I really did a lot of research before selecting a hotel and I’m glad to say that it paid off.

The check in was painless However when I got to my room my key didn’t work and I couldn’t get in my room. They even tried a manual key and that didn’t work. Fortunately, the staff was on top of it and quickly switched my room to the one next door after about a 10 to 15 minute wait of them trying to break into the room.

The room itself is very well decorated to kind of match an early century room from old Burma. The bed is comfortable enough and of course there’s great air-conditioning. The bathroom is an interesting set up with an overhead shower but no divider. So don’t take your towels or anything you don’t want to get wet inside the bathroom you shower. The water pressure was great and the temperature was nice and hot otherwise.

A Safe is provided in the room and although it’s a little small, it’s very comfortable overall.

Dining is on the top floor and its not too bad. I only experienced breakfast but I heard dinner is quite good And there is a nightly puppet show. Standard breakfast fare is available and the service is impeccable. Eggs and pancakes to order were great!!

The area around the hotel is fairly safe to walk day or night. I did a night cruise a couple blocks each way around the hotel to explore the area and felt quite safe. Of course everyone has their own level of safety And I would not recommend females going out by themselves alone at night anywhere in Asia

There is a 24 hour clinic approximately two blocks from the hotel as well as a hospital an additional block away just In case you have any health issues while you are there.

There are a couple of drop-off laundry services also available which could save you money versus having the hotel wash your clothes at a significant mark-up

I didnt see any ATM close to the hotel but There are plenty of restaurants and most will accept credit cards

The only disappointment with this hotel was that I cannot get a late check out. Check out is at noon and the latest they would offer was 1230. I wanted to explore Mandalay during the day and then come back and freshen up before going to the airport. Since I would’ve had to come back halfway through my exploration I opted to pack my bags and put them in the car with the driver all day. If I had a late checkout I could at least have come back around two or three and freshened up before going to the airport, however it was clearly not an option.

If you’re planning on exploring the city all day and want to freshen up before you head out to the airport for an evening flight, it appears you’ll just have to spend the cash and book an extra day. It’s not necessarily inappropriate, clearly the checkout time is noon and a standard in most hotels. Sometimes a little leniency and check out Time goes along way in certain circumstances.......Like when somebody wants to freshen up after exploring this wonderful city all day.

The hotel is very well situated in the center of town. It's a well kept building in a block corner with a very pleasant lobby with very friendly staff that helps you in your requests whenever possible. The room is spacious with a very nice bed - although the mattress could be considered hard for some people, for us was perfect - well decorated with enough amenities. The bathroom is large without being huge with a very good shower. We stayed two nights in the 5th floor and the noise from the street was barely audible.
The breakfast is very good with plenty of options and it's very pleasant to enjoy it from the 6th floor with a view over the city. We also had a dinner there and it was really good.

This is a good choice for a short, sightseeing stay in Mandalay as it is near the Royal Palace and everything else. The room was clean and quite large enough for two friends with their cases, though nowhere to actually unpack clothes except a small hanging rail. The bathroom was spotless with a good shower - a little more light would have been appreciated, in the bedroom also. Beds were comfortable, and the service was good.
The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop restaurant where they can slide back the windows to make it more like a roofed terrace. Great cocktails for Happy Hour and the food was nice. Can't say I enjoyed the Puppet Show and Music as it just droned on in the background through the evening although the lady puppeteer was, I am sure, very good - sorry, not my thing!!
Breakfasts were particularly good with loads of choice, both Western and Asian - and the only half decent bread we had in Myanmar! Particular merit was a Myanmar flat pancake, filled with chillies, bean sprouts and all sorts!!
Shame there was no outside area or pool, but it is in the centre of Mandalay.

This hotel is on a corner of two busy streets in Yangon. It’s rather noisy all day long, with traffic. However, I imagine this may be the same issue for many hotels in the centre of the city.

The rooms were a little over furnished for the size, but was fine for our stay. The bathroom was a good size.

Breakfast was served on the roof top with far reaching views of the city. Sadly there was very little choice for vegetarians, and so I did not bother with breakfast on my second day.

I must mention that the hotel serve free cocktails at happy hour on the roof terrace, which was an unexpected surprise. The team were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Aung Ko Ko.

We dined there on our first evening, and watched the puppet show that took place each evening.

What made this hotel was the team (my reason for 5 stars),who were incredibly helpful and attentive. This was from the welcome desk and reception team, to the restaurant and bar staff.

The reception desk also helped us to find a camera shop and a very reasonable tuk tuk to take us around the “must see” sites for the afternoon. We very much appreciated their help and service with a smile.

My friends and I have been stayed here for three nights. The location is pretty convenient, although the room we stay facing main road is with noise (motorbike noise) in the evening.

Hotel room is in a comfortable size with very lovely design.

Hotel staff is pretty friendly and warm. Our driver today Thwin is extremely good, in particular he brought us to local place which we enjoyed so much. He also told us quite a lot history and story for the places which I have been today.

Also highly speaking of a lady staff at reception on the morning of 30 Dec who really made our trip plan for two day in the city.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff which I will surely recommend

First impression is hospitality of staff. Helpful and always answer my question with smile.

Location is also good. Cafes, restaurants and convenient store nearby. There are also Tuktuk and taxi drivers waiting nearby at almost all times.

Room has good amenities but insufficient lighting. I stayed here in 2 different rooms. Despite them being of same room type, they have different layout with one having significantly better layout and amenities e.g proper bedside tables, bathtub, soap holder within reachable height. With that being said, I would not recommend a corner room.

The biggest issue I had during my stay is that the room is NOT soundproof at all. I could hear when the room next door was opening the doors. Someone in the room above walking or moving chairs. But the worst is the street noise. Cars honking starts before 6am and that woke me up before dawn. I didn’t get good sleep during my stays at the hotel.

This a very nice hotel, no doubt, but we especially enjoyed the rooftop restaurant for breakfast and dinner. They also have an incredible happy hour in terms of bargains on drinks and wine and a complimentary traditional puppet show with music and singing during dinner. What more could you ask for?

A really nice płace to stay in Mandalay. Great location, close to the Royal Pałace grounds. A few good restaurants walking distance. Rooms nicely furnished with a boutique/antique touch. The best asset is the spotless service. Everything is arranged super efficiently. Nice buffet breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. The hotel arranged the car with driver to visit the 4 towns around Mandalay on very short notice. Clean, modern minivan just for two of us. A very, very knowledgeable and courteous driver (unfortunately cannot remember his name, but thank you once again!!!). I would definitely stay here again and use all their services

We stayed at the bagan King hotel for two nights during our recent trip around Myanmar. We enjoyed the cooked breakfast in the rooftop restaurant, and the lovely outlook at sunset for the happy hour cocktails, my favourite being the Gin cocktails - delicious. Bagan King was a great base for us to explore around Mandalay, we had a driver each day so didn’t spend too much time in the hotel. Our room was clean and we had a hot shower each night before settling in with the air condition on.

No. You have to pay them. It's actually more economical if you get a rental at the airport. Around 25,000 I think.
