Stayed in a 1 bedroom ocean view cottage (no. 30) over 3 nights. Location of the property is excellent - walking distance into Burnt Pine township and on one of the main roads leading to the historic Kingston and Arthur Vale World Heritage listed site. We arrived a little earlier than the advertised check in but our cottage was ready and we were kindly offered access to it. Cottage was very spacious, quiet and had amazing ocean views across the Pacific Ocean to Phillip and Nepean islands. It offered handy amenities including free wifi which was reasonably reliable, 2nd TV in bedroom, internal laundry and a full kitchen. Unfortunately the toaster and oven were broken at the time of our stay which made self-catering a bit difficult. The pool was a nice bonus, albeit fairly small in size. I believe the property has a restaurant and bar onsite for guests as well but we didn’t use these facilities. Accessibility to the cottages is very good with a level path and no stairs and parking nearby. Greatest problem with our cottage was the lack of fly screens or screen doors. This led to all sorts of bugs entering the cottage, particularly at night, including cockroaches, flies, moths and mosquitoes. Even found a very large spider at the bottom of my suitcase during our stay which was a very unpleasant surprise. Check out and check in processes were a little disorganised and confusing. The additional charges applied for local telephone calls wasn’t very well explained at check in for instance which led to a little confusion at checkout. Overall a nice property to stay at, but has the potential to be a great property with a bit more investment and attention to maintaining it and streamlining check in and check out processes.

Room Tip: Spend a few more dollars and book an ocean view cottage rather than a hotel room. Well worth it.

We have just been privileged to be able to spend a week at the Seaview complex on Norfolk Island enjoying the wonderful hospitality and friendliness of locals. Seaview is well located a short walk out of town on the road to Kingston and has a range of accommodation styles for any budget. We moved from a King room to a Cottage and this would be a definite for those with a slightly more robust budget. Catherine, Larry and Paul made us feel like part of the family and nothing was too much trouble. Best Coffee in town is at Hilli Restaurant, but plenty of choices. Cyclorama is a must see and the Commandant's Dinner at the Paradise Hotel was a "hoot".

The price and location were may main factors in choosing this property. The location was not only excellent (a comfortable walking distance to town, restaurants, RSL, Bowling Club and supermarket) but the view from a Seaview room looking out towards Philip Island was wonderful to wake up to. The staff, particularly the owner Greg, were excellent, always up for a friendly chat, honest and truthful with recommendations and nothing was an issue (not that I had any!)

Pluses such as free wifi, great views, clean bedding, tea making facilities, tv, guest laundry and even free roaming roosters crowing in the morning can be found in most if not all other hotels on Norfolk Island. What sets the Seaview rooms apart is their location in a building which is in gross disrepair with peeling paints, mouldy walls, and at least one badly chipped wash basin. The contrast is even greater when you look at the recent addition of a cellar with its fresh paint. Apparently one can upgrade to their cottages which are well hidden from the multilevel twin rooms. We paid a package deal for 8 days and several tours and a hire car plus all meals. However if I had known that I was going to holiday in a delapidated and staff-less “hotel” I would have looked for a better deal. Should anyone ask to recommend a place on the Island I can only say definitely NOT the Seaview Norfolk Island. The photographs speak for themselves.

I went to Norfolk Island for a conference and the travel agent booked this hotel. I found the room had a strong mould odour, the small single bed was uncomfortable, and the room overall a bit small. Even though the room was neat and clean, the odour coming from the bathroom was somewhat strong. NB: there was no noticeable mould on the walls of the shower area or anywhere else in the bathroom, however, the mould smell was strong and I presumed this was coming from the drain. I did ask management to change rooms on a number of occasions over the next 2 days however management refused to do this saying that if I didn't like it then I could go elsewhere. I have worked in accommodations and know that a room can be swapped if other guests have not arrived. Also, if there is an extra charge of the different room etc this was not advised nor offered to me. The customer service?/receptionist?/manager? (Simon) was not overly informative nor friendly and was very annoyed that I dared to complain. I was advised that if I left then I would receive a refund via the travel agent however this was a joke as they are not refunding my monies. A pensioner can't afford to lose $$$s!!! DON'T STAY HERE IF YOU CAN HELP IT!

Norfolk Island is easy to walk around, you definitely don't need a car to get to anywhere, but it is nice to be central and on the outskirts of Burnt Pine, where pretty much all opportunities to buy food on Norfolk Island are. So you can quickly grab something before walking to the national park trails, Cocktail Falls, down to Kingston, snorkeling areas like Emily Bay or Bumboras Reserve. Important to note there is nowhere to buy food at Seaview, except chocolate and chips (crisps) from the bottleshop on site.

Seaview Norfolk Island was an excellent place to stay. Very comfortable bed, I mean really comfortable. The shower was excellent (hot water, good amount of water comes out the nozzle and the pressure is good). A lot of space in there too, it's a decent size and it's a standalone shower stall ie it's not in a bath). Quality toilet paper, and I liked the little green shampoo they provided (there's also conditioner, liquid handwash soap, bars of soap and other stuff including insect killer spray - you do get the occasional flying bug attracted by the light enter your room). Seaview is also within the radius that Pinetree, Baunti and other tours pick up from. Has a great view from the common kitchen/dining area (hence the name of the place), has a guest laundromat if Norfolk is part of a longer journey and you need to do washing. It's got a pool on the property with a BBQ area next to it. There's a fridge in your room & TV by the way.

There is the sound of roosters waking you up, but as someone who walked everywhere, feral chickens (since there are no snakes or other predators around on Norfolk), are around every place you might stay at. Sure bathroom taps and tiles (I quite liked the baby chick pattern on the tiles) are old, but they work well. That's all you need. Talking to other people, this is the case everywhere you stay anyway, so if no cracked tiles, freshly painted walls and so forth are a necessity for you, maybe Norfolk Island isn't your destination. there's plenty of power points to charge stuff in the room. Wi-Fi is slow but is free and works.

Excellent location on the edge of the main town, Burnt Pine, but very quiet. We stayed in a large, self contained cottage with wonderful views of the sea and Phillip Island. The cottage was well equipped with a full kitchen, satellite TV and wifi. The owners supply a mobile phone that works on Norfolk Island (most phones don’t). Clean and perfect for self catering. Great value!

We really had a wonderful experience staying at Seaview. The seaview was a pleasure to wake up to each morning.
The cabin we stayed in had everything to make you feel at home.
The management were very helpful in assisting with anything we needed.
Would definitely stay here again.

Just returned with a group of 10, and stayed in the cottages. Excellent choice. Clean and comfortable.
Especially convenient is the property restaurant which made it very easy for breakfasts.
Cars are provided as required and it is an easy walk or drive into town for fantastic shopping. All the tours can also be booked by reception, and the staff are the most obliging and caring people we have ever met.
Cant go wrong with this place!!

Three of us shared a Two Bedroom Ocean View Cottage. It was clean, spacious and had all the mod-cons, including televisions in both bedrooms, and one in the lounge! Views were abundant with endemic Norfolk Island Pines, and verdant hillsides. Phillip Island was clearly visible in the distance. The town centre was nearby and all else easily accessible by hire car provided by Seaview.

Liz McCoy ensured everything ran smoothly for us, as we had chosen their Best Of Norfolk Island package. Liz McCoy was also a qualified historian and direct descendant of Pitcairn Island Mutineers. As Norfolk Island is steeped in history, access to expert knowledge by a local proved invaluable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our seven nights at Seaview!
