After a long flight from LA, I arrived into Nadi around 5.30am. Grand Pacific Hotel had organised an independent transfer company to pick me up and take me to Suva and Pranil was waiting for me just outside arrivals. He didn't just take me to Grand Pacific but gave me a grand tour along the way! He made two stops for drinks and/or food and clean toilets. I arrived at Grand Pacific around 9.30am. I booked this property for 2nts because of the history and heritage and I specifically wanted a room in the main building.
There is a separate wing of the hotel with more modern rooms overlooking the pool, and ocean and although the view from my Heritage room overlooked a metal roof, I had access via french doors from the room, to the beautiful balcony that surrounded the entire building. From the front, I could see the Government Buildings and Albert Park from the rear I could see the pool and the ocean. A short walk from the hotel is Thurston Gardens and Museum and the Presidential Palace.
Just being in the main building was exactly what I wanted and I wasn't expecting a view. My Heritage room was 'olde worlde' with a wonderfuly comfortable king bed, lovely big bathroom and huge shower. Free Wifi, mini bar, kettle and complimentary tea/coffee.
All staff (too many to name) at the Grand Pacific were wonderful! I felt like Royalty from the moment I stepped foot in the door, I did have a little time to wait for my room but it was suggested that I sit in Levuka Restaurant while they were still serving breakfast. I made myself comfortable on the al fresco terrace while Concierge took care of my luggage.
Breakfast was buffet style with everything from fruit, yoghurt, pastries, fresh made juices, toast and charcuterie. Cooked breakfast, tea & coffee was made to order and served to your table. It is casual dining also for lunch and dinner as well as the pool bar. Don't expect service to be quick, it's called 'Island time'. You are on holiday, what's the hurry?
The Prince Albert restaurant is more fine dining, adults only and only open for dinner after 6pm. Personally, I believe the entire hotel should accommodate only those over the age of 16. There were some young children playing in the pool and running around at breakfast, but the hotel does not really cater for children. If you want a kids club and water slides suggest you stick to a Nadi Resort.
My only one disappointment is that my stay in a Heritage Room entitled me to complimentary drinks and canapes in the Victoria Lounge between 5.30pm-7.00pm nightly however, I was not reminded of this when I checked in, so I missed out. Having booked my accomodation about 6months prior I had completely forgotten about this exclusive bonus.
As I had an early morning flight out of Nadi, I reluctantly had to leave this lovely property to spend a night closer to the airport, but wished I could have stayed longer. Perhaps another time.

This is a lovely hotel to stay at. Going to Fiji was part of my 80th birthday celebrations. We were a family of eight spread over three rooms.
We all had excellent views across the pool/outdoor dining areas towards the harbour. I t was fascinating watching the busy shipping lanes.
All our rooms were excellent ,nice facilities and all nice and clean.
The hotel is iconic , its age its fittings all wrap themselves around you giving you a nice warm feeling.
Food and wine were excellent even though the prices gave me "hicups".
Great staff all round doing their best to ensure you have a great holiday. and we certainly did.

Below standard and expectations

I have been to many countries and countless hotels all over the world but this has to be one of the worst experiences.
6 rooms we had at the hotel
It’s the little things that matter
1) Kids and they were swimming so we ordered food and it took over an hour with still no food only to find our food was given to another group so we had to wait even more.
2) This I understand if hotel doesn’t have microwaves in the room but asking to heat up a baby bottle to kitchen is not allowed just makes no sense and crazy
3) One of the rooms we checked out found charges we didn’t do that we had to prove ourselves and even charges we did do and already paid for the system said we didn’t so we had to show bank account transactions to prove it- what kind of systems do you have
4) Breakfast all rooms came with breakfast including the kids only for the staff to charge us for the kids
A simple checking off the room and how many included would have covered this off but no one ever asked just what rooms we were in
All these things are fixable which is the good news and I don’t think I’m having high expectations that these things shouldn’t have happened

If you need more information feel free to let me know and I can supply details of my stay at the hotel

The Grand Pacific is the most beautiful hotel with the most beautiful staff. Barman Inia and Restaurant Lucy were especially amazing. They were personable, friendly, fun and informative. Inia made excellent cocktails with his personal touch. The reception staff were amazing too and went out of their way to help. It's so nice to still have this luxury as wth many hotels now, reception staff can be processing you like a factory. Not the case in the Grand Pacific. The breakfast buffet was amazing too! They have a juicer where they make your own concoction. You can enjoy the fact that Queen Elizabeth was waving from the balcony of the original building in the 50s and certain celebs have stayed there and you might get a little tour of the rooms in the regal original hotel. The newer rooms are strategically placed, and you can walk through a huge Zen garden with the best air con on your way past the gym and spa (also amazing) The well priced rooms on the side face the beautiful ocean either way and the pool for some of them. The bathrooms are a fabulous size! Very modern. You might have to be careful on the tiles like most hotel bathrooms now when they get a bit of conditioner on them. The pool is a wonderful size to have a decent swim at any time until sunset. The sunset viewing is spectacular too. As you walk into the Grand Pacific, you feel like a Queen/King. Beautiful large flower arrangements surround you. You go back in time....You can view the photos of many historic moments at the Grand. If you have children, there is the huge rugby/football pitches right opposite the hotel that you can take them too and the parks nearby. It is very close to town but feels so spacious. Air con is excellent in the rooms. The staff will find well priced taxi's for you and handle anything that needs handling with genuine care and honesty. Please find time to enjoy some nights in the beautiful Grand Pacific whilst in Fiji.

As you would expect , Old world charm with typical Fijian hospitality and friendliness. All done in the relaxing "Fiji Time". Modern interior within the accommodation wings and views across the harbor enhance its location.
Breakfast on the veranda is recommended. Whilst some distance from the Airport i would recommend pre booking transfers to/from the hotel

Comfiest beds ever.
Super clean
Great ocean & pool view
Enjoyed the air-conditioned gym & Spa

Buffet breakfast was great

The beautiful pool area is deserted during the day. Recommend umbrellas over the tables at the pool area & sail cloth over the pool so that guests may use the area during the day - Otherwise it becomes too hot to enjoy.

Maybe allow longer pool hours during the hot season. The pool closes just as it becomes cool enough to swim.

Beautiful sunset views from the pool area.
My girlfriends and family enjoyed our stay.
We'll definitely return.

It is such a shame with such a great location that service and food is so compromised .It took 40 minutes to get our first drink on Sat evening and it was not even busy . We had a meal and both meals were cold which just should not happen ! The outside dining area was dirty , it didnt look like it have been swept or mopped in days and the glass balustrades around the pool area covered in Suva mould . The F&B manager needs to wake up and fix these simple things to uphold what they portray .

We chose this hotel, as apposed to a resort hotel, for its history and grandeur. We like colonial hotels. It was an excellent choice.
We had a club seaview room with balcony. This entitled us to complimentary breakfast and cocktails and canapes in the afternoon.
The room was huge. immaculately clean. The bathroom was large with a shower, there was always plenty of hot water.
The staff really deliver a 5star service. Nothing is too much trouble. We were greeted everywhere by all staff by our names.
Over the week we had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel. Everything we ate was excellent. Breakfast is a buffet. There is loads of choice and something for everyone. They switch to all day dining at 10.30am. It is a good extensive menu. My husband discovered Tandoori chicken pizza! He doesn't normally eat pizza but he loved this one!
We went up to the Club lounge each day. Over the space of a week the canapes were not repeated. They were excellent. As we were the only people there, that week, we were invited to have private dining on the balcony, such a treat.
There is plenty of parking at the hotel. It's an easy walk to the market, the town and other restaurants. We often walked across the football ground in front of the hotel to the Paradiso Bar for lunch which was also excellent.
This is a great hotel to immerse yourself into Fiji.

Went twice in March to attend conferences and was expecting a better service/food than what I received. The set=up of the function room was perfect except the refill during the breaks. The sound system was great and worked perfectly all through (must be outsource supplier). The arrival was good but again different cups on the buffet line. As everywhere else not enough tea/coffee spoons. One of my conference was a breakfast and no food labels to be found!! (personally do not bother me but for a gluten free person or vegetarian person it could be a big concern) The refill was very slow and it was already cold!! The selection of the items was fine. For lunch it was the opposite the selection was very poor and not tasty at all. Same concern regarding the refill (hot cabinet near to the buffet line will be great instead of having to run to the kitchen to get the refill). The morning and afternoon tea were ok with nothing special to eat (average). The Grand Pacific hotel is suppose to be the best of the best in Suva. Is it? No or not yet.

Bula Dear Paul H, Many thanks for taking the time to pass on your thoughts via TripAdvisor on our meeting facilities. We are pleased to read the set up for the event was perfect, along with the audio visual and the arrival experience; thank you. However, we were concerned to read that you found the buffet has different coffee cups and not enough teaspoons and on one day there was no labels at breakfast on the food selection for gluten free patrons and we note the slow replenishment and your thoughts on the food selection. Please note your feedback is appreciated and we’d welcome an opportunity to discuss the event in more detail, as your review is anonymous and we do have your details, please do reach out to Nancy Chute, Hotel Services Manager at the hotel to understand which event this was and for our follow up. The team here hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Please accept our sincere apologies for your disappointment. This hotel is not like the coral coast or Denarau Island resorts. It is a nice relaxing place for visitors and business people. There is no child minding or kids club however the hotel would comfortably accommodate a 2 year old.
