I ended up staying 5 nights at this nice hotel because of a tropical cyclone delayed one of my flights. Staff were really good and accommodating with my change of travel plans. Overall, I enjoyed Five Princes Hotel and I would recommend people stay here. The accommodation had a cluster of shops in walking distance and it felt like a safe part of Suva. The gardens of the hotel had beautiful flowers everywhere and I enjoyed the swimming pool. Nice paintings around the hotel. The room was spacious and had a comfortable bed. The shower gel, soap and shampoo had a nice pineapple / coconut smell. Coffee and tea making facilities available in the room. Wi-fi was good. I stayed during a tropical cyclone and the building was very strong and sturdy. Breakfast was OK with cereals, yoghurt, bread, fruit and drinks. When I first arrived there was no one at the reception desk at night. If you arrive and no one is at reception, just walk around into the dining area to get a staff member's attention. There was a couple of minor lack of attention to detail things (such as not replenishing coffee sachets or toiletries). Overall I would give this place 4 stars out of 5.

I stayed here for four weeks recently, almost the entire month of December. I was in Suva for a temporary work contract and needed a place in that location, and also having a fridge and microwave was an added benefit. I stayed in one of the bures (cottages). I absolutely loved it! It was cute, kinda upscale rustic, very comfortable, had a little side office nook with a desk, and there were windows on all four sides of the bure, so lots of daylight (except on the tropical cyclone weekend when the windows were boarded up). It was very nice to have a pool onsite, I swam whenever it wasn't raining. The staff at Five Princes were very helpful and kind (Mosese, Ecka, Cathy, and Esetha). And a special plug to Auntie Bo Bo in the restaurant. She is amazing! Every dish that came out of her kitchen was stupendous. Especially loved the grilled fish and the pasta. Thank you all! If I ever return to Suva, you can be sure I will stay at 5 Princes again.

Lovely old house, peaceful for Suva and clean, pleasant pool and lovely garden with a big verandah. We stayed in one of the bures and this was fine for our little family, there is a feeling of cosiness that helps overlook some of the flaws due to a lack of maintenance.
Lovely staff.
Breakfast could be improved.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights for a business meeting. The hotel is small, friendly, well appointed, historically interesting, and in a good location. I ate breakfasts and a dinner at the hotel, and all of the meals were excellent. The only shortcoming was lack of vouchers of reasonable denomination for internet access. These were promised to be arriving 'within an hour' throughout my stay, but never came. This might have derailed the productivity of my trip, except that I was able to obtain internet access from a kind colleague.

the individual bungalow i stayed in was quite large. the kitchenette was well stocked and equipped. microwave, toaster and even a coffee plunger complete with ground coffee! fluffy towels changed everyday and great water pressure in the shower. hot and cold water available. flat screen tv with sky pacific decoder, so you control what channels you watch and you ALL the channels, not a select few like what some hotels provide. plenty of furniture and both AC and a fan! the windows have fly screens so you can open them during cooler nights and not worry about bugs getting in.

a great feature of this little property is its deceivingly quiet location. its right next to a busy highway intersection and yet the rooms are totally peaceful. another great feature was the housekeeping service. we left our room for an hour and returned to it being already cleaned. i would have thought they would come knocking on our door in the morning to clean the room, but they waited for us to leave and then stealthily did their job and left. perfect!

friendly staff, always ready to greet you with a smile.

I live off Taveuni and needed to come to Suva - my husband had been here for a dinner a few months prior so I booked 2 nights!
It is just lovely; the gorgeous old colonial building with a warm and friendly staff. The room is clean, well laid out with decor in keeping with the era, and offers a lovely view from the small balcony.
The staff and owner are warm and friendly which made my stay even better.
Taxi to the CBD was only FJ$4 so a perfect place if you are here on business, or for a few days R&R to experience the 'old colonial way'.
Thanks for a great stay!

Recently spent one night at this charming boutique hotel. I arrived into Suva from Nadi at around 9:30pm having just flew in from Auckland and was pretty tired from the travelling. Check in was a breeze with the lovely and helpful receptionist. I was showered and settled into my room in no time. The room is thoughtfully decorated, comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean and air-conditioned, which is a must for Suva during this time of the year.

Having not had the chance to grab a meal, the receptionist offered their evening special. I had the best vegetable dahl soup and delicious fish curry ready by the time I arrived to the dining room.

If you looking for a quiet and relaxing place in Suva for the end of a busy day, with friendly and attentive service, this is the place.

On the way to Fiji's neighboring country, we had to stop by and spend 2 nights in Suva for some administration work, we didn't plan it so choosing this hotel was short of a quick decision with very limited research.
I didn't know what to expect so when we arrived i was taken a bit back by how tiny and dimly lit the reception area was (we arrived in the evening)..
however soon i start liking how private and different this hotel is..the staff was very friendly and kindly explaining about ordering dinner (if we dont order they wont cook) , breakfast time, etc.
The room was unique too, it has stairs right after you enter the room and the colonial, private feeling continues til the room as well.
Bed was comfy, however..I am not sure if it was becoz of the long flight we just had, but both my husband and I had a scary dream on the first night here..the second night was better and we had decent rest..
However on the second night we realized we forgot to buy water and when we called up the reception, there were no answer at all. My husband went out to reception area and found that no one was there and main door was closed. we had to boil water and cool it down to drink.
the next morning the reception told us that they only stay until around 11, after that there will be one security and the cook who live in the hotel, and that we can take water by ourselves in their kitchen!
all in all, this is a different type of hotel and if you are looking for some hidden, secluded, private time in Suva then this place is lovely. It surely can feel like home after sometime.
I didn't get the chance to taste the food but i like the dining area overlooking a well-maintained garden..
Also they have pool tho we also didn't try, but i had a look and i think it was a simply clean pool.

We chose this place after some hesitations because of its slightly excentric location, but it turned out it was a good choice as you definitely can walk downtown in 20 minutes or easily pick up a cab for a few dollars, so this was not an issue. The hotel is in a charming and beautiful old private colonial house, with wooden floors all around, and with only a few rooms you feel almost like at home. The room was simple but comfortable and service was quick and efficient. Above all you have a nice view on the harbor and stay away of the (relatively) heavy traffic from the capital. This is certainly a good address and the price was ok. Breakfast was simple with nothing particular. There is an apparently nice swimming poll that we had no time to try.

How far a walk to town and shops, including grocery stores?
Los Angeles, California70 contributions13 helpful votes
There are two supermarkets 'up' the road - about 10+ minute walk. CBD is about 25minute+ 'down' the road; a bit of a climb coming back. Taxi cost is around FJ$5 to CBD
