Tambua Sands Beach Resort is celebrated for its prime location with breathtaking ocean views and a tranquil beachfront that's not overwhelmed by noise. The resort's rooms are acknowledged for their comfort and modern amenities, including air conditioning, which guests enjoy along with the resort's overall cleanliness and well-kept surroundings. While the value proposition receives mixed reactions, with some guests finding prices steep, the service at the hotel is consistently lauded for its warmth and helpfulness.
However, some travelers suggest a stronger local music presence to enhance the island atmosphere. Amenities are satisfactory, though improvements in Wi-Fi and breakfast variety could enhance the guest experience.

What an absolute gem Tambua Sands is. As I lead a very busy life I wanted a place to unwind and totally relax in beautiful surroundings .... Tambua Sands more than met my expectations. I booked a beachfront bure for 6 nights which was super clean with a lovely shower, extremely comfy bed and exceptional view from the deck. My days were spent walking along the beach, lying in one of the many hammocks reading or sleeping, swimming in the pool or relaxing on the restaurant deck with a hot or cold drink. The restaurant food was delicious and beautifully presented (I didn't have lunch in the restaurant so cannot comment on them). The love and care Abdul puts into his food shows. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The staff are exceptional... from the lovely ladies who serviced the bure, to the grounds staff, receptionists, security man Waisake (who is an absolute treasure), restaurant staff including chef Abdul who accommodated my dietary requests without hesitation ... they are all genuine, very attentive, always happy and smiling, and never too busy to stop for a chat. The view to the ocean is stunning, the sunsets spectacular and the sound of the waves lull one to sleep all of which creates a location that is out of this world. I walked to one of the local villages to Baravi Tourist store which was great for purchasing gifts to take home. A ride in a local bus for $1Fiji returned me to Tambua Sands. It took no time at all for me to fall into Fiji time and totally relax. I love that this resort is small and adults only. My next visit will be for longer. I found perfection and thoroughly recommend Tambua Sands to anyone who is wanting total switch off from a busy life.

Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at Tambua Sands for a most perfect family holiday. From the security staff to grounds people and housekeeping as well as front of house staff-we appreciated all that you do and your friendliness and helpfulness during our recent stay. We loved the location-it had a wonderful reef, which we snorkelled in high tide (too low in low tide) and saw a huge array of fish species. The bungalows/ villas perfectly accommodated our family of 3. The beds were super comfortable. The tea/ coffee making supplies in our room were well utilized. We found the location great , as it provided some options for eating out locally at Mui Bay and Baravi Cafe. We did have a pizza at the resort , which was delicious. There were activities at the resort-which we enjoyed a friendly game of volleyball with other guests and staff. The pool was lovely with sunlounges and great views. We really enjoyed that it was adult only (we did take our respectful 17yo with us) so it was quieter than other resorts and more peaceful. The villas closer to the road can be slightly noisier, but usually the noise was drowned out by air-condition and or fan in room. We were honoured to be part of Fiji day celebrations at the resort on 10/10/24 and learn more about Fiji's culture and history-Vinaka. Tambua Sands fit our needs perfectly for a family get away-we were not after 5 star facilities but something quieter and smaller in a great location and not too big. We would definitely love to come back to Tambua Sands and all the gorgeous staff we met. We met a number of locals on the local public bus as well as "Fijian hitch-hiking"-and loved hearing about local life and getting tips on travel from locals. we were sad to leave but will be so happy to return. Vinaka Sota Tale.

We have just returned home from 5 nights at the Tambua Sands Resort. We were really impressed with the beautiful views and gardens from all of the rooms at this resort. The rooms are spacious, have excellent air conditioning along with comfortable beds and pillows. The pool is simply lovely - nice loungers to rest on and shade from the palm trees that surround the area. The staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. We particularly enjoyed chatting with the cook and the lady in the bar - both lovely people. We also really enjoyed our interactions with Tui, the event organiser for the resort. He took the time to chat and personalise our experience, providing fun activities. The guided snorkel tour right in front of this resort was a highlight of our stay. Make sure you pack your reef shoes - snorkeling gear is provided. If you are looking for a place to stay that is small and personal, quiet and relaxing, well away from built up cities, a reasonable price with modest amenities, then this is the one for you.

The grounds are immaculate. Our beach front villa was lovely & spacious The beach is really nice & the snorkelling amazing straight from it. You can actually see fish from the waters edge around low tide. I counted 27 different fish species while snorkelling and there's lots of nice live coral. The downside of this is that it means swimming is rather limited & only around high tide (but the pool is really nice). Kayaking is also limited to couple of hours either side of high tide. The location is somewhat isolated if you haven't got a car & reluctant to try the local buses. It's a 30min walk along the busy road (difficult to get along the shoreline) to next resort one way or handicraft shop /Cafe the other. It's a shame that the service let this place down so badly. The food is OK (apart from the beef in burger one day being off I'm sure & wouldn't risk eating it), but you can wait up to nearly an hour to be served. The breakfast buffet is pretty basic. Cereals being Weetbix, Cornflakes & Coco Pops, plus white bread toast & fruit. This is an adults only resort, so why Coco Pops & not muslei.! (& some yoghurt). Bonus was they did actually provide Soy milk. The bar ran out of Fijian beer & bottle water for a couple days and did nothing about restocking (just waited for next scheduled delivery) It took me 3 days of enquiring at reception before I found out where & how to get a kayak. We requested a room service one day. We were out for 12 hours & it didn't get done.! They seem to have a shortage of beach towels. Couldn't get one until 2nd day & we had to share that until day 4, before could get another. The hot water in our villa went off 3 times. When I double checked on return airport transfer I'd booked, there was no record of it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your stay. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the immaculate grounds, spacious beachfront villa, and the incredible snorkeling experience right off the shore. It’s fantastic that you had the opportunity to see so many different fish species and appreciate the live coral. However, we deeply regret that your experience was affected by several service-related issues. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the delays in food service, the quality concerns with the beef, and the limited breakfast options. We understand how frustrating it must have been to encounter these challenges, and we’re taking immediate steps to address the food quality and service times. Additionally, we are sorry for the inconvenience with the bar supplies, the lack of communication regarding kayaking availability, the issues with room service, and the beach towels. These are all areas where we aim to provide a seamless experience, and your feedback will help us improve our operations going forward. We also apologize for the issue with hot water in your villa and the airport transfer mix-up. Our team is looking into these to ensure they are handled more efficiently in the future. Thank you again for your comments. We value your input as it helps us strive to improve and offer a better experience for all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a more memorable stay next time. Best regards,

What can I say the minute you arrive you feel like your in Fiji, very relaxing and great location for doing not much. Staff are great and very accommodating.
Now the down fall, Management are non existent, the restaurant is not layed out for service so you are constantly having to ask for menus and pricing. also DO NOT book the airport transport from the hotel it costs about 150 FJD and the car is not safe or worth that much.
In the resort there is no activities what so ever there is things just ad hoc and very random not like the other resorts.
it states continental breakfast but its food at least there is not much choice and lacks like most resorts there is no choice just toast cereal two fruits and one juice not a choice just what ever juice is out that day. there is a cooked breakfast but you have to pay and that's not advertised either.
also there is nothing around the nearest grocery store is 1.5 hour walkk not 15 min like reception tells you so catch a cab.
My suggestion, stay there 2 nights to relax then go else where. I stayed 6 days and would not do that again. stay in the room with the lap pool tottaly worth it and the only thing that saved my holiday.

If you are looking for beautiful on a budget this place is for you. This resort is ALL about the location with its postcard perfect beach front. Yes it is true you can’t swim due to the rocks and coral but you can certainly wade in and paddle around & cool off. I was usually the only person on the beach which is such a nice change from overcrowded Sydney beaches. After reading many mixed reviews prior to coming, I was pleasantly satisfied with most aspects of my stay from the food & hospitality to the Bure Accomodation bang smack on the beachfront. A special shout out to the staff there for making my solo stay memorable: Luisa, Marika, Salma, Ummila, Tui, Wise, Napoleon and every other friendly staff member in the resort, Vinaka! From Melanie

Tambua sands is in a lovely setting and the staff are very friendly. Services are somewhat mixed. We arrived to no hot water, one facecloth and hand-towel and no bath towel for two of us. Partially rectified quite quickly. I think critism of breakfast in other reviews is unjustified, with choice of cereals, fruit and toast toppings it is adequate. What could be improved is the speed in which items on the buffet table are replenished - one day we had to wait for five things to be renewed.
DON'T buy bottled water there - 1 litre $10. Supermarket 6 x 2L for < $8 !
Dinner is quite expensive, variable quality and often requires up to an hour wait for it. There is a nice cafe with souvenir shop 5 minutes up the road which serves lovely pizzas and iced coffee, smoothies etc.
If you are a group booking, request that your bures are situated together otherwise you might find yourselves far apart and with different facilities.
A hire car is useful but if you get it delivered to the resort expect $50 each delivery and pick up. Taxis, buses and hitch hiking are options. Be sure to go to the Crab Shack for dinner.
See other reviews for comments on Wi-Fi.
Despite the negatives, I would still be happy to return there.

If you are after a quiet friendly small place to stay this is the resort for you. We had one of the plunge pool ocean bures. They are really beautiful. Ours had a shower an outdoor private shower plus a bath. They were spotlessly clean. There are no TV's in the room although they told me they are looking into putting them in.We are happy without tv. The WiFi only works in the reception area. They also say they are looking into putting it in the rooms. But you don't go there to sit on your devices or watch TV. Meals are getting more variety every time we go. They make mean mudslides. Plenty of choices now. Breakfast is still complimentary basic continental but there is an option to order hot breakfast ( paid). There are some cultural activities offered by the wonderfulTui. They have a tour desk to book tours, car hire, taxi and transfers. It was so relaxing. The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. You arrive as guests but leave as family. If you are looking for all the bells and whistles and constant activities this is not the place for you. If you want an authentic Fijian holiday it's worth trying. I have been coming here for nearly 40 years. It gets better every time. It gets harder and harder to say goodbye. Til next time. Soon I hope.

My wife and I just sent 9 days at Tamboua Sands. We stayed in a deluxe beach front bure. The room had a king bed and 2 singles. The room was clean and a good size. The bathroom was also a good size and appeared to have been recently upgraded. The bure was only 20 mertes from the beach. The coral just off the beach was amazing, and the fish life was fantastic. The staff at the resort from reception to the housekeeping were fantastic and couldn't do enough to assist with any need or question. The best way to get around is via taxi. The resort staff would contact the local village for a taxi. The taxi was a flat rate, $25 return to the Maui supermarket, $20 return to the Berapi market, and $60 return to Sigatoka. The driver was prepared to wait at no extra cost. We enjoyed the majority of our meals at the resort. There was a great selection of food from Fijian to Western. The seafood was a great surprise, caught and prepared daily from the village fisherman. Highly recommend this resort for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Words cannot explain how beautiful this resort is and how personal, accommodating and welcoming the staff are here!
From the minute we arrived which was around 10pm we instantly felt appreciated as the kitchen had stayed open knowing we were scheduled to arrive.
The kitchen has a great menu full of cultural dishes, snack food and restaurant food. In complement to that is the bar which we chose to have cocktails most days before/after a massage.
The villas we stayed in were exceptionally clean and had recently been renovated. With the friendly team accomodating us with having our rooms next to each other.
We participated in a hosted Kava session to learn about Kava and Fiji history, which again was something we will remember for a long time.
On our last day today it felt like leaving family. The staff all knew us by name and put in there 150% to make our experience as great as it was.
We will definitely be back at some point soon as I have stayed in places multiple other high end resorts before, this is the first one that I will remember for a life time.
Bula Vinaka Thank you
