First time in Resort style Surroundings and not sure how I would adapt. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly happy & helpful all the staff were throughout the entire complex . We were made to feel like family by the end of our stay. An easy Complex to navigate and little pockets of activities throughout for young & old. Happiness is contagious and that’s what stood out for me - Thankyou so much to all Staff at Outrigger Viti Levu Fiji

Loved the staff here at Outrigger Resort Fiji... we were looked after so well and treated like Royalty shout out to room service which was fantastic thank you Luisa you were amazing and our Talai Butler Vinena nothing was too much trouble... Sundowner Bar and Grill are lucky to have Ani working for them, she went above and beyond to look after us at every stage through our many meals there. She made sure we were well looked after and treated us like family same can be said for Josephine at lunch and the occasional dinner ... where do I stop Vili, Ilaitia, Susana at the adults only bar all made us feel welcome and looked after us with grace and a smile on their faces. We will be back. A huge Vinaka to the Outrigger Resort and their beautiful friendly amazing staff.

Bulla What a wonderful time we shared, staying at the Outrigger Beach Resort in Fiji. The food was amazing and the staff we will never forget. Salome at the Ivy and Johnathon at the Sundowner restaurants were so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were so clean as the house keeping team do an amazing job. Our Talei butler service was wonderful, delivering canapés and champagne every afternoon during our stay. Every day, there is a list of activities of things to do. Whether it be a cultural experience de husking coconuts, touring through a local village or just kicking back in the pool, our time here was 10 out of 10. Thank you to everyone of the staff for making this holiday one of the best we have had along our life’s journey. We have made so many memories thanks to you. Vinaka!!! We will be back very soon.

Three couples family holiday with one young babe in arms - we stayed in the ocean view Bures which were very comfortable - the high teas and nightcaps were a great touch ! Our only minor gripe was the bathrooms could do with extra towel hanging hooks plus as an aside a clothes line running down the side of the Bure would save having to smother the hammock with wet beach towels - but overall the food and ambience was fantastic - would definitely go again 👍

An amazing place with such friendly helpful staff. We stayed here for 12 nights and made some great friendships with the staff during our stay. All the staff walk around smiling with a 'Bula' always ready which really helps relaxing :) We loved the Sundowner restaurant for our meals as the food here was amazing, the service of the staff was also amazing with a great atmosphere as well. I really hope that the Outrigger management read these reviews as the staff of the Sundowner are a credit to the Outrigger brand. One thing that is great here is that there is a good mix of things to do for all age groups without missing out on things. You can choose to do as much our as little as you like. We also received exceptional service from our Talei 'Pojee'. Such a happy staff member, always looking to do his very best and the same as the Sundowner team, a credit to the Outrigger brand. The staff definitely helped define our trip, we had a really nice relaxing time and were really sad to leave.

The staff at Outrigger was outstanding! Rajesh was a manager, Makirina was a server & Rosa was our room attendant. These 3 especially went above & beyond! We loved them! They made our stay so welcoming & enjoyable. Raj was everywhere making sure the service was top notch. He even made a special request happen to have French toast for all of us in the dining/buffet room one morning because my husband loved it so much. He is an incredible asset to Outrigger! Makirina knew all of our names from day 1! Always stopped to talk to us & had a smile & hug for us. We adored her! Rosa was the sweetest & most attentive room attendant we could have asked for! Her service was just amazing! The staff at Ivi was also so welcoming & wonderful! We celebrated our friend’s birthday there on our last evening. The staff sang us a farewell song which was beautiful & so touching. Unfortunately, the things the resort cannot change is the weather & beach. The weather was incredibly windy every single day & the 1st few days overcast. We stayed in a beachside bure. The room was beautiful but we expected the beach to be a smooth white sand swimmable beach & it is not. It’s a bit rocky. The water is beautiful just not much outstanding to see coral or fish wise. The resort was going through some construction, which understandably makes it difficult. The adult only swim up bar would close early because they’d have a wedding in the buffet/dining area during these renovations. Obviously, renovations will be over at some point & no longer an issue. I would say, if we could have taken the Outrigger & their staff to a location that wasn’t windy & had an amazing white sand swimmable beach it would have been better. Again, these are things the resort cannot change & no reflection of the beautiful staff & excellent service.

We previously stayed at the Outrigger a mere week adrift from this most recent holiday in the middle of November. Despite the weather risks (more on that later), we purposely selected this period due to the notice on our last stay of the renovations that were planned to be finalised this year in approximately September. We arrived into the Outrigger and it was readily apparent that my concerns from monitoring the social media feeds leading up to our stay was that the renovations were far from complete. The entry foyer, was still very much a construction zone which resulted in a less than ideal and underwhelming arrival walking through construction tunnels and having to utilise the lift to gain the reception location. Because of the separated locations of the entry and reception this resulted in an down up down lift sequence to check in, go back up to advise on luggage, then go back down to our room levels. It just felt overly clunky, and at around 10/11pm at night, with kids didn't make for the most seamless arrival. None of this was disastrous, it just lost the tropical ambience and previous smooth process of a year ago. The other downside was with the main foyer under renovations, it resulted in the viewing deck and stairs being off limits to traverse the main resort building. Now some may go who cares about the stairs... but for my family we use to enjoy wandering the levels looking out to the views... not staring at silver lift doors to get anywhere, let alone the viewing deck (albeit the weather was not our friend to watch the famous sunsets this time round). Fortunately the rooms had been updated (theres still one wing being renovated) and the new fitout is a lovely refresh and I have to say it has certainly lifted the interiors to a tropical modern space, albeit the standard rooms loosing the bath was a bit of shame. But overall a great update and the nice but "tired" feel is certainly gone in our opinion, which was a complaint we had read and would have agreed of the rooms a year ago. However to the elephant or should that be big Bure in the room issue, was the closure of Vale Ni Kana, the main dining and night venue Bure. The resort had gone to lengths to ensure and reassure that the closure of the Bure as a venue would not impact the experience, unfortunately that proved to be significantly unachievable. They have made an honourable effort in shifting dining to the formerly adults only bar and bure area at but at what I would guess is only a third the size, the flow on effect to the other restaurants and throughput capacity of the venue is just not up to the task. This was compounded with a wedding one evening that required the adults only bure resulting in the dinner buffet being shifted to a small break out area in the main resort building that was grossly inadequate to handle the load of guests attempting to go for dinner. This had ripple effects again to the remaining restaurants with many all bar one at capacity until later evening sittings. Again not an issue if you are adults, but when trying to get children fed and to bed, being presented with next likely sitting or booking being 8pm, is not good enough. It really limited flexibility and somewhat spontaneity of dining that we had previously experienced and enjoyed. The other factor is the flooring in the adults only bure is a tile surface and the food service areas we found at breakfast and dinner for some reason were dangerously slippery every time we used it and really needs to be looked at. The simple fact is there are currently too many guests for the dining capacity. Which was not the issue when you had the main dining bure open which arguably took 60-75% of the guest load at any given meal time in the past. These are all short term issues and I am certain once complete the new venues will be fantastic and the Outrigger will be back to its best. However right now, it is false to be saying that the experience will not be impacted. It most certainly is. These issues aside the hospitality of the staff is typical of the Fijian way and could not be faulted. We also were there during very adverse weather that unfortunately impacted many of the normal activities, but the resort created multiple alternatives and did an admirable job in keeping the experiences at a high level. The new waterslide was an absolute hoot and my daughter could not get enough and a great addition to the main pool.... and who cares about rain when you are already wet swimming and its 28 degrees! The spa and massages were amazing as always and cannot come recommended enough. The last point I would raise was we were there for the hit of Tropical Cyclone Mal, a Cat 3 system when it rolled past the island early on Wednesday morning. The manner of updates and intergration of transfer information between the Rosie holiday desk and the immediate resort staff was fantastic. The preparation of the resort for the event was efficient, coordinated and limited in impact to the guest experience, and frnakly you would have barely realised a Cat 3 TC was baring down on the island mere hours before it hit, let alone the reactivation of the resort the next morning. So a huge well done to the Outrigger team. Overall the stay was a good one, it just wasn't a great one on reflection of our previous experience. All of the issues I feel are short term and really in a couple of months (I am dubious on the supposed completion timeline offered [mid Dec]), the resort will be refreshed and back to being the great family holiday and worthy of the reputation. So we will happily return.... but if you are headed there soon, it might be worth doing some planning around when and where you plan on eating on a given night early on or before you go especially if you have young ones.

We LOVED outriggers!! This place is definitely for every type of traveller weather it’s kids, a couple, or an elderly couple! The staff are so incredibly friendly and they treat you like family. They will treat your kids like one of their own! They are so passionate about their culture and will make you feel at home. The restaurants at the resort are catered for everyone! There is a late night adults only bar, an adults only pool - but also a big main pool for the kids with a waterslide. They have a great app that allows you to locate all the activity’s, maps, shopping, and restaurant menus all from the app which makes everything SO convenient!! They have a lot of cultural activities that you pay extra for which are well worth it as I believe you truely get to experience the Fijian culture that way! They also have a lot of free activities aswell such as water-aerobics, snorking, kayaking, treasure hunts, tidying kids activities and more! They had snorkeling just at the beach and they also do some coral planting which makes you see all the Live coral, and all the hard work the Fijians are putting into saving their reefs. With our room we had the tailored Buttler service which including in a afternoon snack and beverage everyday, plus a rundown of the following day - it was a nice personal touch that the resort offers which I love. The resort also had ‘ village ladies ‘ which are 100% Fijian owned handmade gifts which I loved as I’d prefer to support them compared to a souvenir chain.
