Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you don't mind filthy bathrooms, zoned out staff who ignore you, a tiny pool, this hostel-like accommodation is for you. We were kept awake one Saturday night by the worst performing band ever, belting out songs at top volume outside, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Honestly, the male singer was so bad. This place is cheap for a reason. I have been scarred for life from ever returning to Fiji. There are much nicer hotels near Smugglers, including the Ramada next door and the newly-opened Crowne Plaza.

Hotel's Favourite
Smugglers Cove was my home base as I traveled among many Island Nations with each flight originating in Fiji. My experience was over 9 short stays. Smugglers became my restorative place where I could recoup after each island adventure. Ana and Joanna and the rest of the team at Smugglers were so welcoming each and every time. My favorite room (recently renovated and lovely) was always there for me. The driver for the airport shuttle was there to pick me up or drop me off, the restaurant staff equally attentive. For the visits that were slightly longer, they arranged a driver so that I could see the best of Fiji. I was the elderly granny traveling solo among Smugglers' many young backpackers and more traditional tourists and yet they always made me feel like their most important guest. Being able to take long walks on that beach or read lounging by the pool or beach - Smugglers was a great destination! Many thanks to the whole team at Smugglers.

SMUGGLERS COVE BEACH RESORT ⛱️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND this accommodation for couples, singles and large groups as they have backpacker rooms as well -  The exterior can be a little misleading but comfort is definitely guaranteed  🤗 We can't believe thier star rating isn't at least a 4! We received a fabulous upgrade when we arrived. Very friendly reception staff and helpful with luggage as no lifts..Very convenient laundry room & shop for basic supplies.Great Air con in very comfortable rooms with brilliant space for 2 x suitcases along with excellent coffee making facilities and very nice bathrooms. Refreshing pool and great wee bar. Fabulous Sunday night dance show. Good music. Good location from the airport and shops. A really sensible choice for before and after Island Hopping. They also have a fantastic counter at reception for booking everything you need to do in Fiji and the islands called EPIC TRANSFERS & TOURS FIJI 🇫🇯 Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay with this place being one of our highlights 😀 Only one suggested improvement would be to not have the pepper and salt in cruets, as most unhygienic. But everything else has been wonderful. Vinaka vaka levu for having us.. we can't wait to come back ❤️

Great place to see. The Beach is right there infront of the hotel plus the staff are so friendly. Have to tip them all the time cause they did a great job. I walked everywhere. Walked to the supermarket, to the other hotels which all have a different food to tingle your taste buds.

Stayed two nights in this hotel as it was booked by our travel agency. Average hotel that needs updating and hot water in the showers. The only reason I gave this review 4 stars and not 2 was down to the restaurant/ bar. There was a great variation on the menu and the food was good. The main reason however was down to Praneel working there. He honestly made our weekend, referring to us by name and speaking to us in ‘as gaeilge’ - our native language. He is a breath of fresh air and couldn’t do more for us both evenings we ate in the bar. He is excellent at his job and a credit to the hotel. Go raibh maith agat Praneel for making us laugh and being so welcoming.

Bula gemma, We're sorry to hear that your room hot water shower was intermittent during your stay. Had this been raised with our team, we would have rectified it right away as sometimes its a simple matter of turning the tap in the right direction. As all our rooms have been updated lately, please detail areas which in your opinion need to be upgraded. Thank you fr the shoutout to Praneel! We will be sure to pass on your comments. Vinaka from team Smugglers Cove Resort Fiji!

Arrived at 7.30 and didn’t get meal until 9.30pm -chicken was over-cooked -bangers and mash was “Worst he’s ever had-beef burger Pattie was dry -wings were edible for those living in India -drinks were okay -meal was warm including the salad. Garlic bread as starters was nice but after an hour we’re pretty hungry.. kitchen under-staffed and waiter tried his best -would not recommend!

Avoid this place like the plauge... Seriously I got robbed having to pay $430 Australian for the worst hotel room I've ever stayed in. Room was horribly outdated, wet and hot on arrival because the AC only works when you insert your room card. The smell in there if some chemical I can't describe and cokroaches running around the floor. Website mentions Shuttle bus ( Let's call it a filthy old van nothing like other shuttles I saw) is $15.... No mention of it costing anything until you're checking in... Then I get told it's not available for my flight time in the morning but not offered any refund. Bar service was sooooo slow and the food Luke warm and dry. The garden view room was a filthy alley??? All up just a horrible experience where you're taken advantage of because you have a delayed flight. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid and stay anywhere but here. It was a very bad experience. This is NOT a 3 star hotel and should be 2 or 1 star. The one positive was the staff were lovely and doing their best and helped us get to our bus transfer in the morning. They booked our dinner as we arrived late. Negatives were the room smelt very odd. Opened the curtains to the window and windows were blacked out as the room overlooked a courtyard. Windows did not open. Old bathroom which just needs to be upgraded. Requested to move and was not accommodated. AC only worked with key card in the wall so when you left it turned off. AC remote was broken and took very long to figure out how to get it working. Beds were so soft we almost rolled off. Single bed for my child was too hard to sleep on. I booked a "premium" room and paid $450 AUD - utter rip off. Stayed at Toka Toka which was half the price and same star rating and by comparison the room was clean and rooms upgraded . There is no excuse to rate a hotel 3 star with such bad standard of accommodation.
