i would say this property is old but it maintained so well. talking about rooms i was initially booked for one bedroom apartment but upon my check-in i was upgraded to penthouse which was 400 level. Man the view from my room i can see the sea from my room. inside the room i had my bedroom and then it had kitchen plus loft on top. wow it was so big room. all cutleries were new. as we checked in we filled out the form for our cutleries and i was amazed it was all new cutleries. all in all my experience in Tanoa apartment was wonderful and services provided by 2 housekeeping ladies and manager was kind and humble

We had already spent 5 days relaixing in a resort and our time in Nadi was to be for getting out and seeing the sights so we just needed a base to come home to to sleep that was close to the airport for our early flight out. We arrived about 3 hours earlier than we said so the room was still being cleaned, but after only a 15 minute wait spent exploring the pool and surrounding grounds, we were checked in. It was a cheap booking on Wotif and we weren't expecting much, but we found a large and clean apartment. The 2 extra beds in the loft provide sleeping for 4 people, however the only toilet has to be accessed through the master bedroom, so is perhaps more suited to families rather than a group travelling.
The supermarket across the road was adequate, but expensive and for the price of meals in Fiji I don't know if I would bother cooking for ourselves again, although it was nice to make some more familiar food after eating resort food all week. The cooking supplies are limited so you need to keep it simple. We were surprised that no washing up supplies were left in the room, but when we asked about it the staff immediately gave us some, only to find on returning to our room at the end of the day that housekeeping had done them already!
Yes, there were a few very small cockroaches running about, but it is the tropics and so long as your food isn't left out and you don't have allergys to them they are actually not the grotty little creatures we make them out to be. Besides I had my "Bula Belly" well before we arrived here! I did put a stip of the surface spray I brought with me along the back of the bench as a deterent.
We didn't use the pool, but it looked quite nice and there was plenty of room for kids to run around. Hardly anyone was around so you probably would've have it to yourself. There was a spa but nothing happened when I pushed the buttons and while the water was clean, it looked like it needed a few leaves cleaned out and the coating on the base was starting to bubble and peel.
There wasn't anywhere we really felt comfortable walking to and the main street was a fair way away, so we had to catch a taxi everywhere. This turned out to be good as we had a really friendly cabbie who we proceeded to use for the rest of our time there as after a call or text he would pick us up from wherever we were. Outside of Denarau I didn't see many accomodation options that looked respectable and were located any more conveniently to shopping (maybe only the Mecure).
My main concern was getting to the airport on time and while we thought we had requested the bus pick up, it never arrived at the set time. There was no way to contact the International Hotel next door and staff didn't start until half an hour later but they immediately got onto it when they arrived and we still got there in plenty of time. We always had our taxi driver as a back up plan anyway!
I wouldn't have wanted to be there for my whole holiday, but it suited us well for what we wanted to do without having to pay Denarau resort prices.

Stayed at Tanoa Apartments, post cyclone Evan, for 6 nights in a deluxe room. The accommodation is basic and needs a bit of renovation but the property is located in a wonderful location. It is situated on a small hill which overlooks farms, fields has great mountain views. We were greeted by wonderful sunrise from our bedroom windows. It is very quiet and serene and you will not get a chance to experience this by staying at other hotels in Nadi. The supermarket is a short stroll away from the property which is very handy (7 min walk). There are some other shops about 15 mins walk on the main street. The staff at Tanoa Apartments were amazingly helpful which made are stay very pleasant. They can organise taxi for you when required. There is a free shuttle service for airport pick up and drop off. The staff can also organise a free shuttle to Tanoa International if need be. We tried this once, we had to wait for half an hour for the shuttle to arrive as the same shuttle is used for airport pick ups. On the way back from Tanoa International to Tanoa Apartments, we had issues with the reception at Tanoa International as they were quite rude in arranging our shuttle back to Tanoa Apartments. The only drawbacks are no internet access at the apartments, lack of any restaurants or cafe at the apartments and beware of cockroaches in the apartment !

Room was OK but floor was dirty and had a sticky substance on it. Couldn't really have bare feet to walk on it.
TV didn't work so advised reception who tried to fix the problem even changing TV over for another one. Still didn't work so they advised they would have to get a technician from there other hotel to look at it.. No one ever came.. Luckily I managed to get a picture albeit not very good and we could watch the Australian Netball team that night.
Shuttle arranged with reception for 6am to take us to the airport It didn't come, luckily the night security guard who was just knocking off for the night took us Thankfully. We waited until 6.10 for it and could wait no longer

Staff the only redeeming factor in this place.
In desperate need of a facelift.
Old and stained furniture. Beds unsteady. Roaches for additional company.
Better value elsewhere.
Fairly close to eating places and grocery stores.
About a ten dollar ride to town.

On 17/7/14 my cousin and i travelled to Fiji from australia. We booked a deluxe room at tanoa apartments primarily because it was at a quiet location and close to the airport. There is no security during the day, no cameras except at reception and no safe lockers. On 19/7/2014 between 1pm and 5pm, an ipad, iphone, Samsung galaxy phone, 2 bottles of alcohol cigarettes, passport and some cloths were missing. We always double check the room before leaving so we were sure that it was not left open and there were no signs of break in, which only means that someone entered the room using a key. We reported the matter to the hotel and they investigated, and then the police was called in. Police searched the suspects houses on monday, obviously they would have sold and hidden it. They also investigated and found nothing. The hotel did not accept any responsibility and management were very unhelpful. We had to travel to suva and get an emergency password which costed $368. Tourism Fiji could not do anything and the hotel refused to compensate for any of our loses. We requested to me moved to tanoa international because of lack of security at the apartments. So we got moved from a one bedroom deluxe self contained room to a studio apartment. Basically our holidays were spoilt; all we did was running around to the police, hotel management, tourism Fiji, and passport office, not forgetting wasting all our money.
Nothing was done, no actions were taken and we felt helpless.

found this to be a good place for my last night in Fiji its only 3 minutes from the airport and there's a supermarket down the road. the rooms are clean and comfy, with aircon and fans there's a kitchen, and out side your got a pool and spar, there is security on site and i found it to be quiet. perfect to wind down and relax after your holiday. And as I spend most of my time here on the Coral Coast, coming here for my last night means, not getting up at 04:00 in the morning. sleep in your only 3 minutes from the airport.

We arrived at some awful hour past midnight to catch a taxi but were happily greeted and offered transfer in the courtesy bus without booking so that was a relief with 4 tired kids. We booked 2 rooms thinking they'd be small but they rooms were great clean and spacious. Nothing too flash but your in fiji and it's all about the experience. One room so big we could've all stayed in there but oh well... This was only a 2 day stay on our way to pacific harbor but we loved it. Read reviews about the horrible huge hill to get to the hotel but really it's not that bad. Hubby and I walked, 5 mins probably across the road to the local supermarket which was handy to stock up on water and munchies. It's very warm so walking around in the sun can be a pain but your on an island so ENJOY! We literally spent all day in the lovely big pool. Water was perfect from when we woke till it started getting dark we enjoyed the water and the beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet and didn't see many others but we liked it. Had pool to ourselves kids ran a muck in the gardens playing it was like being at home, we would definitely stay again, could get a little boring if you were to spend majority of your holiday here as it's not near beach or anything but for short stays it certainly is a pleasant little hide away with great views.

We only stayed 12 hours (!) in transit from one island to another, so arrived with tired children and looking to crash. Reception were friendly and helpful, we were "upgraded" from the deluxe room we'd booked to the "Penthouse" with a kitchen, lounge, good size main bedroom & bathroom and a mezzanine bedroom upstairs. All was good although you wouldn't want to put more than a child on the fold out sofa lounge (even the 10 year old found it uncomfortable) and the stairs up to the mezzanine were steep (for middle of night toilet trips for littlies). The kitchen equipment was very limited (even the plugs for sinks nicked!) so might be an issue if you were planning a big cook up. Reception kindly ordered a pizza for us (FJ$ 26 delivered).
We picked up this for a bargain on wotif (A$40!) a real bargain!
Negatives:
Up a long drive up a hill (nice views) so not night time (or daytime) strolling distance.
We also had problems getting there from Denarau, the South Seas cruises transfer bus refused to drop us there and dropped us at the Tanoa international, down the road, which meant another wait for them to ring for a transfer to take us to the Apartments (after the stuffing around disorganisation from the Port this made nearly a 2 hour trip from Port to Apartments - next time we'd take a taxi!)
Also we needed to be at the airport at 6am and had arranged a transfer with Tanoa the night before. Don't rely on this (reception didn't open til 7am). No transfer came, were left waiting, so had to run down to the road to flag down a taxi.
Otherwise a great place to transit!

We cam back again after a couple of years for a 2 day stay before we headed further out.
As a family of 6 we had originally booked 2 rooms but there was a little mix up on arrival and we were put in the 2 bedroom room with a king bed and 2 queen there was plenty of room and the beds were all comfy. We love the relaxed laid back feel here where you do as you please. For such a popular spot you never really see anyone else. The pool is lovely and being up on a hill there's a view from the nicely kept grounds. The kitchen utensils are odd bits here n there but did us fine. IGA supermarket directly across the road which is handy and the ladies at reception are always wonderful.
If your passing through I definitely recommend Tanoa Apartments for a few days.

We had a party of 5, stayed in 2 apartments. One of the apartments had 2 in 1 room and one of the others slept on a bed setup in the lounge. Check with Tanoa apartments themselves would be my suggestion
