This very odd Chinese-developed and -owned hotel seems to be awaiting hoards of Chinese tourists who have yet to come. It is located in the foothills above Nadi, amongst beautiful rural landscapes of cane fields, at the end of a partially paved road 6km from Queen’s Road. There is one single, ambiguously placed, sign along the way, so getting to it can be hard work –beware if you are driving your own car, and watch out for the potholes (Google Maps places the hotel in an erroneous location). Alternatively, there is a helipad, optimistically awaiting helicopter landings. The decor can be described as “post-socialist Chinese nouveau riche,” with no concession whatsoever made to the local context and everything imported from China, down to the light bulbs and toilet paper (apparently the laborers that built the hotel were also imported from the PRC). So the hotel’s contribution to the local economy is virtually nil. I booked into this hotel because of the reports that it is quiet, and I needed quiet to recover from a 30-hour flight and get some work done – but I had not bargained on the loud reggae music blaring from the poolside bar all day long, for no one in particular other than the workers, since there are virtually no guests, even in high season. The satellite TV announced that the website boasts about consists of two local channels. The hotel seems very new, but signs of decay are already obvious. The small gym sports latest-model Chinese fitness equipment, but anything that requires electric power seems to be stopped working a while back. Upon arrival, it took me about 10 minutes to find signs of life in the lobby. I did not try the restaurant, preferring patronizing Nadi Town’s cafés to sitting in a large empty mess hall. But, for the rate that I paid, this is a bargain, particularly if you have sense of humour. The hotel allowed me to check in in the morning, a promise they made ahead of time after numerous attempts to contact them via email (the threat to cancel the reservation finally got me an answer). The large pool is beautiful.

This hotel is set in the interiors of nasau,nadi.

If i had to describe it in one word it would be "peaceful"

Most of the rooms are empty hence the hotel is often very quiet.

The rooms are spacious and fairly reasonable. However the bedsheets could use a litle more washing and the rooms could do with some ventilation.

Some of the doors dont have appropriate knobs but on the overall its okay for people who want to getaway from the buzz of a busy lifestyle.

Theres not much to do but the sunsets and the greenery add to the natural beauty of it.

well, the price was right but that was about it; this place is perfect if U need a cheap overnight stay near(?) to NAN tho' the taxi was average $20 each way Raffles probably would have been a better choice... we stayed 2 nights (mistake) and thus discovered that the restaurant is a real disappointment (and because of the remote location, there are no other options I know of). The room was pleasant enough (tho' very hard bed) & the Wifi was free; morning coffee was instant only; Curry Chicken dinner was good but you have to ask for a napkin and the service was pretty slow & uncoordinated. The hotel is like a movie set for a 4-star property - there's not much behind the facade....

on morning #2 we departed early & had breakfast at our next destination on the Coral Coast..

I have a list soooo long of things wrong with this hotel! And I never post reviews (this is my first ever) & I'm pretty easy to please after many nights in backpacker accommodation. But this is a special case, I only hope the owners care enough to read these.
We arrived at the hotel after a weird taxi ride down a gravel back road, not sure if the taxi was taking us to the hotel or kidnapping us. Google maps says it takes 8mins to get there from Nadi, but by 8 they actually mean 18 (not exaggerating in the slightest). The hotel is beautiful, very Chinese but beautiful, as long as you're not expecting anything Fijian. Absolutely everything is Chinese. This makes finding the right button on the air-con remote a little difficult, but you get there eventually. The lobby is so lovely it has you thinking you got a real bargain (along with the relief of not actually being kidnapped by the taxi driver, we were stoked).
So the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farms, which is really exciting for 10 minutes. This could be awesome if they provided some sort of entertainment or activities; trips to local villages/mountains/beaches, more tv channels, anything really. But you feel stuck there, not even wanting to go to Nadi because the taxi's cost $20 one way, or $30 to Denarau Island. This made me really annoyed, because the hotel calls a taxi for you, & it just so happens they're the taxi's without meters, the ones you should avoid. If you call a metered taxi yourself (we met a nice taxi driver in town & took his number), & they start the meter at $1.50 like they're supposed to, you can actually get to Denarau Island for $18, not $30. The hotel should really be helping guests out with this & not helping the taxis rip you off, and for this reason alone I will never go back there. I've never had this problem anywhere else in Fiji. Other hotels will call a good honest taxi for you (or have their own shuttle) & advise you about making sure you ask taxis to use the meters, that the meters should start at $1.50, & the approximate cost of getting places. Manhoa Hotel staff are either working with the taxis to rip off guests, or they just don't care. Absolutely appalling.
We got to our room which was really nice at first glance, but wow, it was SO dirty! They surely hadn't swept in there for months, there were dead bugs, dirt & dust all along the edges of the room. The shower was filthy. There was a half alive worm in our bathroom which they still didn't remove even after doing our housekeeping the next morning (the term "housekeeping" is used very loosely, but we got new towels & they made our bed at least). For a new hotel it was all pretty disgusting. The bed was like concrete. The chairs were dirty & stained. There were fingerprints on the walls & the roof. The smoke alarm was gone. There was no compendium, and when you're stuck in an odd hotel in the middle of nowhere with everything written in Chinese, a compendium would come in really handy. There's no wifi. You get only 2 tv channels. We asked if there was a DVD player we could borrow, but there wasn't one. No mini bar. No teaspoons to stir the coffee (I'm surprised we even had sachets of coffee in our room actually). Fridge was really warm.
We ordered cocktails when we first arrived, & these were really nice, & so was the local guy working at the bar. Then we wanted beer. There were 3 or 4 different beers on the menu, but they only had one type in stock. And by in stock, I mean they were sitting in the fridge but they were warm. Not sure if the fridge wasn't turned on or they just like warm fridges (like the one in our room), because they also only had warm water.
We went for a swim in the pool (which is really nice, I'll give them that) & went over to the pool bar... nobody came & served us, they just watched us from afar, & the fridge there was also empty. Wanting a cold beer on a hot day should not be that difficult. And I thought pool bars were for drinking at, but this one's just for decoration/somewhere to sit when swimming gets too tiring.
Oh & they also have pool towels so you don't have to use your shower towel, but you only get one if you go & ask for one. A compendium could have helped with this.
They serve only Chinese food. No dessert. No breakfast menu. Just Chinese food. There is a continental breakfast buffet which is a joke. You want toast? Ok but you can only have raspberry jam on it, no other options. You want cereal? Ok but only cornflakes. You want coffee? No sorry, only water or orange juice. Or warm beer. You can order Chinese off the menu for dinner, or they have a buffet. But first you wander around like an idiot wondering if you should just grab a plate & go for it, or if there is actually a menu with a few more options, because nobody actually explains that to you. Again, a compendium could have helped with this.
The Fijian staff are lovely (like all Fijians) but the Chinese owners are the most unfriendly hospitality staff I've ever ever come across. Can't even get a smile out of them. They just sit at the bar & watch you wait to be served, & then do nothing when you're not served. Well ok, thought you'd want an extra $50 out of us for a round of drinks but obviously not.
Apart from one other couple, we were the only people at the hotel (3 of us). It was really weird for such a big place. It's like the owners are literally just sitting there waiting for it to go out of business.
Honestly, I will never even consider going back here (I am an expat living in Fiji so it would have been very likely if the hotel wasn't so insanely weird & annoying, as I stay at hotels in Nadi or Denarau Island every month or 2). This hotel has so much potential! But the owners just have no clue, or no desire to make it great, & to make sure their guests are happy.

Being in the hotel industry for 24 years in 5 Star luxury brand hotels I found this hotel online and thought I would give it a try. A little bit out of the way but that's not a problem as had a car anyway. Arrived at hotel and said to myself this looks nice. Checked in was ok but was a little put off by the man who took us to our room. Seemed very negative. Room was nice and view was lovely except the bed as this was too hard. Typical Chinese bed that only suits Chinese people. The bed was like a rock. We at in restaurant or what you can call a restaurant. Noticed no smoking sign but the Chinese guest seemed to ignore it as they all lit up their cigarettes without a thought to knowing its illegal to smoke in public places especially restaurants. So typical arrogance and the staff did nothing about it. Food came out and did taste ok so credit for that. Did take long time though. Had a walk around and noticed sliding opening door shutters have been broken and no maintenance to fix it. Looks very visible to the eye and it should be fixed. Went back to room to have the worse nights sleep in history on the hard bed. It may suit Chinese but remember other guest also unless you only want Chinese guest. Next morning checked out that took a long time as no receptionist. Waited a while before she showed up. GM not around as could not see him or her. Honestly if they want a successful hotel for which this hotel could be then manage it properly and put a couple of restaurants in ie Chinese and Western. Certainly a pretty hotel with lovely grounds. Utilise what you have because if you professionally run it this hotel could be one of the nicest in Nadi. Good Luck

This hotel hosted my nephew's wedding recently and they were very accommodating, the management did a lot to ensure it was a success. In Nadi there aren't too many options for a wedding or a large function, this was an excellent choice and highly recommended. For a fee, we were allowed to use their kitchen for some of our dishes which was great - the kitchen staff was so helpful. Our room was upstairs, we didn't hear the noise from the party and it was good except no face towels. We found the staff friendly without being too familiar. Yes it was in the middle of nowhere but it is different and has its own charm.

This hotel is a real supprise. The location is amazing with wonderful mountain and farmland views, getting there is an experience, along Nadi Back Road you turn off onto a very rough dirt road passing farms;and seeing a very different Fiji to the usual tourist areas. The hotel suddenly appears big and white among the fields. Unbelievable. Our taxi driver asked "why do you want to stay there?" We came because it was recommended by a friend as something different. It is impressive. We pulled into the portico to be greeted and escorted up wide stairs into the huge foyer to reception by a very courteous young man, checked in and were taken to our king size room. Lifts are being installed so some building mess was around. We had a pool view room with amazing views. The room looked good at first glance the furnishings were of good quality. The view from the balcony over the huge pool and surrounding countryside amazing. It was early evening when we arrived and we thought we would have a shower and freshen up before dinner. First problem - while the room looked clean the shower room was not, with extensive mould along the tiles at floor level and in the tracks of the shower screen and in patches in the adjacent toilet area. The vanity is screened from the bedroom by a huge plate glass screen (would hate to get out of bed and walk into that in the dark) with a door from this into the toilet and shower room. The vanity to could have been cleaner and there was more mould around the taps. This was not a good start. We went in search of the dining area on the lower level. We came down the stairs to the bar beyond which was the dining room. At the bar was an Indian family several adults and a small child eating dinner , we don't know if they were staff or guests but sitting at the bar eating dinner wasn't a good look. We would normally have a pre dinner drink at the bar but felt uncomfortable doing so. We were the only people in the dining area and chose an outside table. A courteous , friendly Fijian waiter explained that only Chinese food was available and we said that was OK. Our meal was ok and our water glasses were kept filled by a young waitress. We noticed through the glass into the inside dining area that some of the young female staff lounging around at the tables talking on their mobile phone, not very professional. As we left the Indian people at the bar insisted we try their food cooked by them, very generous but really not appropriate, I declined. The whole atmosphere was unprofessional.. While they were very nice and friendly it was off putting. We just wanted a quiet meal as we were very tired.
We finally got to bed. The bed was the hardest thing I have ever laid on. It was like they forgot to put padding on top of the springs and every time we turned over we hit metal with elbows and hips, we ended up laying the doona on top of the mattress and re made the bed this helped a bit but not much. We awoke after a restless night feeling anything but relaxed with aching backs. Breakfast was included, continental. While there was sufficient food we had to keep asking for another glass only one was available and plates too, not enough laid out. We had a mid afternoon flight home so left late morning. We only were aware of one other room being occupied. What a strange experience. Think they need to address quite a few issues if they want to attract guests. Could be an amazing property we would certainly have considered it again but for the issues we experienced. We gave the reception a card from the taxi driver who brought us out, yes as another reviewer you do get a bit edgy wondering if you are being kidnapped, he had told us he would come just to have the hotel call but he was not the taxi driver we got, he had a nice new taxi and the one we got was dirty and cramped and from his conversation he regularly did that trip with guests. We paid F$30 from Denarau and F$20 to the airport which was what we thought it would be. For the distance thought it fair enough.
They will have to lift their standards before we would go back. Shame it could be so successful.

The location doesn't matter in Nadi unless you need nearby facilities so we thought this was such a good price for the rating and it was an overnighter. The actual setting is lovely overlooking the hills but honestly it's such a random hotel. The restaurant has Chinese food which we love however it didn't taste great. The rooms are dirty, the AC didn't work, phone, neither did most things to be honest. The staff make you forgive the issues you have.

The hotel was a fantastic place to stay, hidden away from the local town this hotel was an excellent stay on our 1st trip to Fiji. The staff were polite, kind & very helpful to all our needs. The pool was massive!! A beautiful place to stay. Vinaka vaka levu to all the staff..

This was the worst day of our lives when we checked into this chineese hotel conned by their services and pictures online...believe me its nothing like that its a total horror. Initially we had booked for three rooms as we were three couples looking to spend a night in this hotel which is in the interiors of Nadi, when we arrived there we got a shock that our rooms were given to some other guests which we had booked for and that the price had increased to another 20bucks extra for all three rooms. This was just the beginning of our tragic holiday, tired and exhausted we took all our luggage by the long walk by ourselves as the only staff you'll ever see is the rude receptionist. There is no workable lift access, the place is littered with rubbish its like the place had been closed down for years. At first the first veiw of the rooms was welcoming like any other hotel. Anyways we changed quickly to enjoy the pool, pool was over crowded, dirty, griming with algae coloured water and smelling like one its like the had never been cleaned or serviced since the hotel was built, there was a stack of tile piled up near the edge made me wonder whats that for, only when i was inside the pool i found out the bottom tiles were comming off, i hurt myself on the sharp edge of one of those tiles went up asking for a band aid the receptionist directed me to the bar only to find out theres no one at the bar. I wonder how the OHS Dept had cleared this hotel for service. Everything was like breaking off at some certain point, as we went back to our rooms just to found there was no power, toilets were not flushing, tvs not usable, no phone connection, even the AC in one of the rooms were not working, the fridge wasn't cooling either, there was no iron and beds were terrible, bed sheets stained, the cheap Chinese furniture was showing its true worth, there was hardly any usable amenities available. Frustrated we walked the long isle to receptionist to relay the experience, she came with us checked all the faults and went back and thats where the fun began. No one was picking up the phone, the Manager even the assistant manager were at home. Trying for nearly an hour finally the Manager named Jone picked up his phone and message was relayed to him, we asked for a refund so that we could go spend our night at some other hotel as there were no technicians to fix the problems and no other rooms were available. Finally the Manager agreed to refund us only half the amount as we had used the pool. We accepted the offer as just wanted to leave the horror as quickly as possible and found another hotel vowing never to recommend this hotel to anyone else......
