Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Club Raro Resort - Adults Only offers a serene oceanfront experience, although the atmosphere can be affected by loud music and some dated facilities. Guests generally commend the resort for its cleanliness, but there are occasional concerns regarding food area hygiene and upkeep. The resort's value receives mixed reviews, with its reasonable rates sometimes overshadowed by unexpected charges and quality issues.
Staff service is often praised for being amicable and accommodating, despite occasional lapses in room servicing and communication. While the rooms are considered clean, they are basic and could benefit from modern updates. Amenities draw appreciation for the picturesque ocean views and live entertainment, though the rocky beach access and certain outdated features have been criticized.

Detailed Reviews

Resort itself is quite small, has one pool in the centre where the swim up bar is, restaurant, rooms and then sun loungers and seating. Portion sizes of food are very filling, happy hour is 11-12 and 4-6pm. Most staff are very friendly, housekeeping will service your room daily if required. There is a free library and board game exchange you can use, on site Laundry facilities for a charge, snorkeling gear and reef shoes. There was a pool table but this was out of order. WiFi is not free. There is a bus stop outside that can take you into town or around the island.
Overall we had a lovely time.

On checkin we were asked to pay a $350 bond which I thought was odd. Food was good, pool was a bit small, especially when everyone is wanting a drink at the pool bar. Also unable to swim in the sea as its really rough - best place to swim is other side of the island. WIFI was crap and not worth the money - best to choose roaming. Also island show was disappointing, very short and they included a audience participation part which was a chicken dance which is not cultural and silly. Music for this night was stereo - no drums or ukuleles. Upon checking out we asked for a late checkout - they wanted to charge $25 an hour. There was a TV in room but this was useless - pretty much 1 local channel - suggest you take your chrome cast.

The staff were very friendly and the resort is situated not far from town and the airport. We stayed in a self catering room, it was quiet and more than sufficient for our needs. Bar snacks were excellent with quick service even when staff were busy. The front office were good with local information e.g. knew which transport to book for guests depending on their needs. The beach is unsuitable for swimming but you can walk amongst the rocks (old bleached coral) and see the sea life in the little rock pools. The resort provides sand shoes. Some guests also snorkeled but most of the guests used the numerous sun lounges or stayed in the pool which had a bar. It was lovely that it was kid free. Servicing of rooms could be improved though, as it took the staff member awhile to do it.

Kia Ora my experience staying here at Club Raro for 14 days and nights The staff were Good friendly Apart from 1 security Guard that we had not seen the whole time until a few nights before we left He was a bit out the gate I tried talking to him to see if it was ok for him to open the gate Did not answer just ignored me. Our experience with the food I'm sorry to say was absolutely disgusting every plate that came out was cold just smothered in sauces my family actually all got very sick and we never ate their again. Breakfast their were flys in the fruits Lipstick on cups that my daughter was just about to drink her coffee out of until I saw it I had asked one of the servers to look she just took the cup and nothing else No acknowledgement to what just happened, I'm like hello yuck but nothing Breakfast was nothing fantastic baked beans burnt told another server to smell it No acknowledgement and she too screwed her face up at the beans being so burnt and still No acknowledgement so I spoke with 1 of the staff I do not believe it was the manager he offered water for all the mishaps and said he would get back to me but nothing We left and checked out today But just terrible they should rehire another chef or upgrade him Hair in the food some food was undercooked my daughter saw raw chicken sitting in a trailer in the hot son maybe that's what we ate that caused us all to get sick But No acknowledgement at all The beach is Rocky the pool needs upgrading actually the place is kinda like a retirement home more than a resort Every other resort we visited was great vibes great food everything looked fresh Club Raro is a bit run down over rated bathrooms a bit old and tired wood is starting to lift in the bathroom No curtains on the bathroom windows if I stood outside I could see you going to the toilet $35 dollars for 5 gigs poached eggs on toast Unbuttered and cold $14 Their $55 Tea variety of meats sea food just tasted like soya sauce
We just wasted alot of food eating in at the restaurant because it really is the worst food I and my family have ever tasted in my entire life I ordered just chips even that was cold I work in the food industry and if they knew what was being served the chef would Probz lose his job was a couple that was eating while we had entertainment from a lovely older man the people who were in front of him 1 of the customers was eating and actually ran to the loo which is in the lobby area and was vomiting from the food we paid nearly 8k for yuck food like that. I will never ever stay their again and have also told friends and family to never check in at Club Raro Sorry but people need to see what they are wasting their money on All up apart from the 7 and a half K we had spent for accommodation I thing we spent easy over 600 dollars on food their What a waste .

This was our 4th visit to Club Raro, though our last stay was pre-covid. The number of times we have visited over the years will tell you how happy we have always been staying here. Since our last visit there have been refurbishments and we were pleased to find the slippery tiling around the pool had been replaced by safer tiles. I can only repeat the positive comments written in other reviews regarding the staff and the food. We have always stayed in the ocean front rooms with the view of the reef and the quieter atmosphere - (as mentioned, it can be noisy near the pool area). Club Raro is in a great location, close to town, bus stop outside, and while it does not have a sandy beach, the lagoon is accessible using reef shoes (which are supplied).
A big shout out to all the staff, with a special mention to Mere and Matai...beautiful people who looked after us so well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Club Raro. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bed and pillows very comfortable.
Daily servicing of our room was completed with efficiency and we really enjoyed the tropical breakfast and the opportunity to supplement that from the breakfast menu when we needed to.
The swim up bar at the pool was really enjoyable and while the pool area itself doesn't offer a lot of shade, we most often used loungers in the shade on the whale watching deck under one of the table/umbrella set ups. And we saw whales almost every single day, what a treat!

As resorts go in Rarotonga, Club Raro is better than average in terms of accommodation and facilities but could not be categorised as "luxury", mainly due to the absence of a good swimming beach. There is no sand, or if there is, it is under a thick layer of broken coral debris which if you walk on with bare feet will cut your feet severely. It is so bad that the resort provides a bin of reef shoes of various sizes for guests to wear as soon as you step on the beach. Compensating for the poor beach, the resort has a wide concrete promenade fronting the beach with many sunlounges and tables and chairs as well as shaded areas under palm trees. It is a nice environment on a sunny calm day but when the prevailing SE wind blows, the resort, which is on the northern side of the island, is not as sheltered from the wind as are resorts on the western side of the island. Their swimming pool (with island bar) is well maintained and sheltered from the wind. It is relatively small for a resort this size though and any more than 6 guests swimming it is crowded.
Generally, service was good but you have to be prepared to be let down: our airport transfer included in our room rate out of the resort was a no-show and we had to pay for a taxi ourselves to rectify the situation. It pays in the Cook Islands to double-check any arrangements just before they are due to ensure they actually occur as scheduled.

Nice place, bit far away from everything i would stay closer to muri beach next time as taxis are expemsive and buses only every hour. (Not the hotels fault obviously)
Room wise it was a bit average there were only 2 hooks in the bathroom and there were 2 of us with beach towels and normal towels and wet clothes so we had to hang them over the chairs outside where everyone walks past. Shower was also tiny and very short i would hate to be a tall person washing their hair, after a shower the water goes everywhere. Single bed mattress was terrible but the king was good.
Cocktails at the pool bar were terrible the mojito with oranges was strange and just tasted like rind, others just tasted like juice and alcohol. Also its on a beach with rocks not sand but they have reef shoes u can grab if you need.
Both nights we stayed there was buffet dinners so we didnt get to eat here because we are vegan although they said on other nights they could make us something.
Also annoying they dont give free bottles of water u have to give them your bottle and they fill it at the bar, in a country where you cant drink the tap water i think you should get free water in the room.
Overall it was ok but wouldnt stay here again

We stayed at Club Raro for the first 3 nights of our holiday, the staff left such an impact on us that we came back to spend the last night of our 2 week holiday there as we had confirmed accomodation elsewhere (we were resort hopping)
We stayed in one of the pool view rooms and it was fantastic. The room was very clean, aircon was great, the free breakfast was an assortment of fruits, pastries and cereal which I loved because it wasn’t too heavy and more than enough to kickstart your day. I had dinner at the restaurant and the food was fantastic. However, the real stars on the show were the staff.
I can’t praise and thank the staff enough for their hospitality, kindness and simply just existing. I had read great reviews about the Club Raro team prior to booking but to experience it was another thing. Donna and Emori at the pool bar, Charles at reception Nane at the restaurant and everyone else we had the pleasure of meeting, thank you!!
I watched Donna address every guest by name with the biggest welcoming smile I’d ever seen including myself. Emori I watched assisting guests with the reef shoes and even running to the back of the bar to grab binoculars so a guest could sit under the hut and whale watch at happy hours (yes happy hourS is 2hours every day). I also loved the fact that the resort was adults only.
Your team is your biggest asset. Meitaki ma’ata for making our trip home an unforgettable one.

Club Raro is located in a great spot on the island.
The basic rooms are basic and really need updating new bathrooms as they have mold and the mirrors are terrible and for the cost it shouldn't be that bad.
The people in the hotel are lovely but things need updating. NO WI FI is Crazy.
Also when you check in be prepared coming from Australia it's a long way and there is no Wi Fi and the cost is very expensive.
Disappointing to have to chase WI FI which is a basic requirement for people to be in contacting with home.
