Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I had a two week holiday here with friends and it is a little taste of heaven. A short walk to the lagoon which is just beautiful. A short walk to resort for afternoon drinks on lagoon, short walk to breaky and internet. Everything required is here and the hospitality of hosts Terry Lambert and Mama Lambert is just awesome. There knowledge of the area and culture is brilliant, I learnt alot about the island and people from them. I can highly recommend this accommodation to anyone single or a family.

Forget about the resorts, this is the best place for Value, Service, Local knowledge, location and friendliness in Rarotonga. Terry Lambert, Louisa Stace and the team made it such a memorable stay and I would recommend this place to anyone on holiday or in "kick back" mode either on your own or with family and friends. The rooms are very clean, stocked up with your necessities and any requirements for a self-contained unit. Terry and Louisa made me feel so welcomed from the time that I arrived (after 1am with a really cute and personal welcome note on my bungalow door!) to the time I departed. Muri Village is so vibrant and you have the best beach on the island with a less than 30 seconds stroll down the pathway from your bungalow down to Muri beach. If you need a taxi call Louisa Stace and Areiti Taxis for service with a smile who are situated next door! Te Varanui and the Muri Sailing Club is just down the road for your entertainment. They are really cool! Westpac and ANZ money machines, shops and stores are just down the road. I'm looking at returning to Rarotonga next year and booking some bungalows for family members. I travelled alone while attending the Vaea Family Reunion in Muri but I won't be returning alone - that's for sure! Don't delay, book today. Many thanks to Terry Lambert and Family and Louisa Stace.

We ve enjoyed one week in Rarotonga and could not pick a better place to stay. The bungallow is simple, nice, quiet and has everything that you need. Not fancy so if you are looking for a 5 stars hotel you won't get it. However, if you are looking for a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay instead of "wasting" your money in a fancy place then you found the place to stay. The location is very good and Terry is adorable :)
I told all my friends about Rarotonga and specially about these bungallow so better tell the world too.
BTW, Tina (the contact person) was wonderful when we cancelled the first booking due to some family illness. She managed to book a second week for us as well as organised a friendly lady to pick us up at the airport.
I will definitely come back to Rarotonga and Terry's paradise.

My wife and I booked tickets to Rarotonga for our 15th anniversary and had the great pleasure of spending a week at Muri Shell. Terry was incredibly helpful and the bungalows were in a perfect location with easy access to the beach, bus and local restaurants.
The fact that there is free Wifi fed my wife's Facebook addiction (ok, and mine too). We still talk about our time in Raro, and one day will get back there and maybe bring the kids along (or not :))
If you are coming from Australia or NZ, consider bringing food, particularly meat, with you as it is generally imported, anyway, so is very expensive. Get the local fruits and veges, tho - they are fresh and very tasty.

We loved it and will be back for sure. The property is looked after with great care and a personal touch. It is situated very close to the beautiful Muri lagoon and provides everything one needs in Raro.
Terry, the owner, is a legend, he knows so much about history, the island and its people. All his stories and snippets were interesting and we would sometimes listen in amazement.

We stayed at Muri shell bungalow in May 2012 and we absolutely loved it. It is very quiet, very spacious, very clean, with a fully-equipped kitchen, washing machine and clothes lines. Terry, the manager, is adorable and very helpful. The price of the bungalow is the best value ever. You will not get a better bungalow for that price. Muri is the best place to stay in Raro, and this bungalow is a 1 minute walk to the beach/lagoon. What more do you need? :)

My partner and I stayed here for 2 1/2 weeks and wanted to stay much, much longer. If we could have the luxury of landing in Rarotonga and touring the island prior to picking a place to stay - we would have picked this place!!!! It is in the best location and on the best beach in Rarotonga. Terry and Pu were fantastic - so friendly and helpful. We would like to return just to visit them!!! The stay could not have been better. The place is large and fully equipped for cooking, bbq, etc. We will be back!!!

Really can´t say anything other than high praises for Muri Shell. The bungalow is very spacious, bed is extremely comfy and the kitchen is very well stocked (even had a sandwich grill!)… didn´t use the bbq in the front porch but looked amazing also. Location is perfect right in the heart of Muri, maybe a bit close to the road which means you do hear the “traffic” but we did find that in the majority of accommodation anyhow. Tina is a wonderful host, and she and Henry are quick in the email front and ready to help with anything once there… including waking up at 1:30 am after our transport to the airport wasn´t showing up, and making sure they chased them for us.
As a summary, A++++++ from us :)

We spent two weeks at the Muri Shell Bungalow on Rarotonga in Sept 2013. Everything about our stay was excellent. Tina (the owner) arranged our airport transportation. A van was waiting for us as promised. When we arrived at the bungalow, we were met by Terry and his dog Yapsalot. He showed us around the property and gave us a quick overview of the town and island.
Muri Beach is a great place to stay. The beach is a short 3 minute walk from the bungalow. There are better places to snorkel on the island, but I think this is the best place to stay. There are plenty of restaurants that you can walk to in 10 minutes or less. You can rent almost any kind of water equipment on the beach (kayak, stand up paddleboard, kite surfer, sailboat, snorkel equipment, etc...). The beach is clean and uncrowded (compared to what I'm used to). There are several scooter and car rental agencies to choose from.
There is a brewery (Matutu) about 2 miles from Muri Beach. The beer was surprisingly good.
Yapsalot (Terry's dog) was a regular visitor to our porch. She's a happy, playful and affectionate dog. The easiest way to describe her is a cross between a German shepherd and a Vietnamese pot bellied pig.

Hello,The bungalows are/was NZD 110/night for the studio/ loft I think you can fit in there, three up and two down and also there is studio bungalow for 100 NZD/night

"The Mango Bungalow is furtherest away from Te Vara Nui, situated next door, which has night shows - I personally love the sound of Island drums, but it may bug some people. The roosters require chasing sometimes especially early in the morning."
