Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying in this B & B for 1 night. The staff was helpful. The room was good, with big bathroom. The breakfast, served in a former garage, which we did not like very much, was a little bit disappointing. The location in Miraflores is really good and safe, which is very important in Lima! We liked to stay here but I think it is a little bit pricey.

We booked two stays at this hotel, one in August and one in September four months in advance for our honeymoon/anniversary. Two weeks before our trip, the hotel tried to trick us into changing hotels under the guise that they were "upgrading us" and giving us a free breakfast. We didn't like the "upgrade" and told them we'd prefer to stay with our original booking. They then admitted that they had actually double booked our room and had to move us. This was absolutely ridiculous given that we booked the room four months in advance when the hotel had NO reservations, and somehow we were the first they went to move. They did eventually honor a cancellation despite their very strict policy, so at least they did that. Two weeks out our options are very limited and we have to

Dear Doreen, We are truly honored to have travellers so eager to stay with us and thank you for your preference. We understand a honeymoon takes planning time and that it can be very stressful. We can see you are upset and your disappointment saddens us. We apologise once more. We made a mistake, acknowledged it and worked out what we sincerely think is the very best alternative. Please take another minute to review the facts: 1. Yours was a discounted rate for first stay and normal rate for second stay 2. Your first stay did not include breakfast 3. We made a mistake not closing rooms on Booking.com 4. We work with multiple booking channels (DMCs, website, phone, other OTAs) 5. Other reservations were already in place 6. You desired a vegetarian breakfast for your second stay 7. Our hotel partner (3 minute-walk from here) had a room with a higher rate 8. We agreed to pay the rate difference 9. We agreed to include and pay for a complimentary vegetarian breakfast for your first stay (which didn't include breakfast) 10. You decided you did not want the alternative presented (this was 15 days before arrival date) We are committed to continue improving but cannot guarantee an error-free operation. We do guarantee our very best effort. Always. Autor

We stayed here two nights on our way out of Peru. It was out second stay in Lima, and first time at Autor. It was an absolute joy, and genuine Lima hospitality. LIKES -The staff are fantastic. The provided really nice, and far more interesting recommendations than our previous hotel. As other reviewers have pointed out, the service was incredibly personal. -Loved the rooms, loved the decor. The building is a lovely mix of old architecture and more modern furniture and touches. -Loved the large bathroom. -The rooftop is fantastic. A great spot to relax. -Comfortable bed and linens. -Good wifi -Excellent location in Miraflores. It's central, so close to anything you'd want to see. THINGS TO KNOW -This location can be tricky to find, as the property is inside a small

Dear Matt, Thanks for caring. We truly thank you for your feedback and will put aside your amazing words to focus on what must be and has been improved. Bathrooms are duly cleaned but we will do better. They are antique style even though all the mechanism is brand new and water pressure has been bettered too. We wish you could have pointed this out while in house. Back to the positive: thank you for appreciating our team effort. We are proud to have a "no boss" organisation. Team members come from all over Peru. Some are learning English on a scholarship for academic excellency so we thank you for your patience. And yes, Autor is not easy to find. We won't settle on hanging a sign or little country flags. Both temporary residents and Autor team like the tiny white house with front garden facade. But we do provide exact location and simple references. We are certain that if you are curious enough to chose us you'll be able to get here. Cab drivers and the rest of the world do not know us! Once again we appreciate your kindness, your thoughtfulness and your willingness to help us. So much hate on and offline these days, people like you are comforting and inspiring. Best, Autor

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here at the beginning of our Peru vacation, and finished our 17 day trip with 2 additional nights at Hotel Autor. We found the hotel to feel more like a bed and breakfast with a friendly staff to help out with all of our needs. We enjoyed the bottom floor balcony room which had plenty of room to spread out, a mini refrigerator, and safe. We especially liked the privacy of the balcony and found it to be a wonderful reprieve from the busy city. The hotel is located in a small cul de sac with other houses that have been converted into small businesses. It is extremely quiet at night and the location is close to everything in the Miraflores district: the Malecon, parque Kennedy, Choco Museo, numerous restaurants and shops. Personalized service

We stayed for two nights at the Autor hotel in Lima. The room was spacious and beautifully designed. Very comfortable. What was even better was the hospitality of Sheila and Miguel. They were there for us 24 hours. Took care of every need, from printing our boarding pass, to bringing our laundry to the neighboring laundry, recommendations for restaurants, museum and more. We have been in many places but here we the best feeling. Highly recommended! Judith and Dov Barak, Israel

We only managed to stay for 3 hours as our flights were delayed and missed our connecting flight. We reached Lima airport at 2 am and had to leave by 6 am for our bus to paracas! The hotel room is definitely a charm, and I guess this is how a Peruvian home would look like with hotel services. We were disappointed cause we missed out flight, but the warmth of the room cheered us up! If I ever come back to lima i would book the room again! Staff is also concerned with our missed connection and they continued to check on us on how we were doing before we reached! Lovely. Just a side note, may be a good option to book transfer with them as the taxi situation outside Lima airport is real baddd.

Hola Reefyyy, At your service. Quick note to future travelers; our private transfer service is more expensive than regular cabs. We think its worth it. Some have complained about it being pricey though. Nice to know your room cheered you up!

I stayed here for two nights and it's a must if you are in Lima. Not only is the property very charming, but the entire staff is beyond amazing. The owner umberto was very helpful and available for any issues. They were more than accommodating for everything. Highly recommend. Location is also fantastic.

This is an amazing, quirky and unique place to stay, with really friendly staff and centrally located. I like what this hotel stands for - keeping the old period villas from the area preserved and showcasing the history of the region. We had a negative experience, however, with our booking and as such as much as I'd like to give this a 5/5, it's not acceptable to state in the booking.com descriptor of the hotel "a complimentary gourmet breakfast" and then a confirmation email which states "I forgot to inform that your overnight does not included breakfast". I brought this up on arrival that this very misleading as it wasn't clear that the package I booked did not include the complimentary breakfast but it was not rectified. They offered us the breakfast at a USD$2 discount

Dear PonsonbyGirl, Thank you for your kind words! We understand your concern. You carefully read the Booking.com page because you chose precisely the cheapest booking option. The Booking.com page where you clicked the lowest rate clearly states "Basic Non Refundable Rate. No meal is included in this room rate." Our confirmation email just reaffirmed the conditions of your contract with Booking.com Your reply to our email was word for word "I'm sure it said breakfast was included in Booking.com but I guess I may have misread. Either way we can organise when we arrive and we're looking forward to our stay. Regards, Exxxx". Once at Autor you asked for breakfast but were unwilling to pay for it. We thank you once again and agree with you on the necessity of reading carefully and understanding that one only gets what one pays for. That being said, we normally don't answer reviews given that both TripAdvisor and Booking.com (them being partners) charge us fees and commissions and then force us through you (our guests) to use their own platforms as means. We find this awkward to say the least. Next time you are here, breakfast is on us. Always at your service, Autor
