I think for some from the US it could be a bit intimidating having to choose from a lot of local hotels not representing the chain brands where used to. Rest assured that this hotel is at least as good, if not better than in some ways, as any Hilton, Marriott, Windham, or Holiday Inn.

Getting here from the airport was more expensive than it could have been. Had we contacted the hotel directly, we likely may have gotten the ride for 25k instead of the 40k our illegitimate "taxi charged us. The front desk was very helpful in arranging this for us when we checked out and headed to our next hotel. In general, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with advice, almost always in fluent English, anytime we needed it. They provided local recommendations and even warnings about places to avoid when going out, especially at night. One staff member even called out to me as I walked out the door to let me know I'd forgotten my phone was in my back pocket. Further, he recommended places to go to get drinks in the area because those at the hotel were so expensive.

Our room was perfectly positioned with a view of the National Library and the adjacent Santa Lucia Hill, both of which we easily reached from the hotel by walking. The room was clean and comfortable and included outlets that fit US style 110 volt plugs. There was a main light switch on the wall near the beds - I like this feature in hotels and it's becoming more common these days. Things were generally clean, although nothing like the beautiful photos that make the property appear brand new and spotless. For the price, this was ultimately a wonderful stay.

Only a young girl staff at the reception. Cannot see her initially as the desk was too low. Strictly allowed to check in only at 3pm despite not many guests. Does not reply emails despite reminders. Supervisor acknowledged that someone read them but ignored. McDonald is just round the corner. Seedy outside, new inside the hotel. Uber has to be ordered discreetly especially at the airport. The pick up location at the airport for international arrival is right outside, opposite the Starbucks outlet, where the ticketing or payment machines are (need to cross one tiny lane). Hotel room rate is very reasonable.

I quite liked the hotel on the whole. Unlike some of the other reviews, I didn't think the area was so bad, yes it's a little grungy, especially after dark but it's a very central location and perfect for exploring Santiago. The rooms are decent, and a good size. The breakfast was generally fine apart from the scrambled eggs which are not pleasant and need to be improved. The outside space and pool are pretty nice but the music being played is always way too loud. This makes it impossible to sit and read or even listen to a podcast. In a city hotel, doesn't it make more sense for the outside space to be a quiet, tranquil place away from the heat and noise of the city? So, it's a fairly good hotel, but for me there's some improvements to be made.

I’ve stayed at Mercure branded hotels before and was expecting a good quality hotel. However, this hotel is far from what we expected.
Firstly, The area this hotel is in, is the most run down depressed and dangerous feeling part of Santiago there is. There are steel doors on every shop window and door nearby. The front door to the hotel is locked every night at dusk and you have to wait for the staff to let you in. I never felt safe in this area and on the day we left one of the reception staff was attacked in the hotel.
Secondly, this hotel advertises the fact it has a swimming pool (part of the reason why I picked this hotel). When we checked in we were told that the pool was closed and won’t be open again until their summer season starts in November! Yet the hotel is still advertised with a pool and are misleading their customers. The room we had was overlooking the pool which just added to the hurt we felt.
The rooms are average but they don’t have USB chargers, a very powerful shower which had issues with cold water making it scoldingly hot!
The room cleaner, everyday, failed to leave clean towels in the room. We had to call down and ask for towels every evening.
The breakfast is an average continental breakfast but with scrambled eggs. There was no daily variety, just the same thing everyday.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to people. They have misleading adverts and don’t inform you until check in that the swimming pool is closed. Also, the area the hotel is just horrible.
Santiago is beautiful city and well worth a visit, just select a better hotel than this one.

The staff at this hotel were entirely unhelpful and unfriendly.
Firstly, we organised an airport transfer which never arrived and when we spoke to the lady at reception about this she just said a taxi is cheaper anyway and to not worry about it. This is not the point at all, arriving to a foreign country and having confirmation of a transfer to your hotel you expect to have this service provided. This lady then tried to redeem herself by stating her and the other receptionist will be willing to help us with any other taxis or transfers we need. This is NOT the case. I had an early morning flight two days after arrival and as the receptionist had said she would be able to assist with a taxi back to the airport I assumed this would be an easy process. 2 hours prior to my flight I went to the receptionist who was on her phone who stated no they do not have this service at this time and I would have to try and organise a Uber myself. When asking the lady why this was the case, she informed me taxi’s to the airport had to be organised 24 hours prior to departure, however this information was never passed on at check in. This is extremely disappointing as Uber was also not responding to pick ups at this time and the lady did not offer any other options, rather just ignored me and played on her phone. As a non-Spanish speaking traveller the process of getting to and from the airport was made more difficult due to the staff at the Mercure. I would avoid staying here at all costs.

Furthermore, staff in the restaurant were plain rude. The food was also overpriced, dry and flavourless. Another good reason to avoid this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights while visiting Santiago de Chile, and my experience was pretty good. Check-in process was smooth with no complaints other than the lack of staff to escort the luggage.

We got a room in the middle of the building and the room was spacious and comfortable with working heater plus air conditioner for warning up from the chilly Santiago weather. Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the breakfast due to the constraints of our tour but overall we had a very nice stay and would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good accomodation in the centre of Santiago.

Although the hotel is not located in the safest area of Santiago, we didn't have problems regarding our safety. The building is close to Cerro Santa Lucía, Palacio de la Moneda and there is a metro station right next to the hotel. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast had good options of fruits and breads and you can also find grab-and-go options at the lobby (in case you have an early tour, for example). And whenever we needed help from the staff, they were available.

Thank you to the staff at Hotel Mercure. We recently stayed at the hotel for the Pan-American Games. The hotel is located very close to the metro which we took everyday to different sporting venues. The staff were outstanding! From the front desk to the staff at the restaurant all were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you for making our first trip to Santiago a memory we won’t soon forget.

Hotel, food and pool were decent for the price, neighborhood was a bit sketchy at night. The location was great during the day though. Overall was moderate pleased with the stay, would maybe look at staying somewhere a bit more upmarket in a safer location in future.

Rooms are clean, adequate, and comfortable. They forgot to give us towels, but that was quickly remedied. We were very grateful to be able to check in early after a red-eye flight. Pool is cute (if cold!), and pool bar is delightful. Location is great, in the center of things and right on top of a subway station.

We took a taxi. Get a pre-paid ticket for a taxi inside the airport. Do not take a taxi from the street. The hotel is used to having international passengers arriving at all times and will accommodate if a room is available. There is storage for luggage.
