Response from Daniel V, Gerente at Hotel Windsor Suite
Responded 24 Jul 2018
Estimado Charliedon. Atentamente, Gerente.

This hotel is located on a fairly quiet path facing a park. The decor is very dated, but it is clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff was helpful with directions, but do not speak English. The breakfast buffet had ham, cheese, toast, fruit, yogurt, juice and very good coffee, and was served in a pleasant dining room. OK for a short stay.

This hotel is really well located for the visitor who wants to explore Santiago by foot rather than taxi. The staff were extremely helpful as well. The rooms are dated but huge offering two double beds and a separate sitting area. They are very clean. The water is hot and the wifi strong. What more could you ask for? The downside is that it is located beside an expressway so there is traffic noise early in the morning. Ask for a quiet room on a high floor and wear ear plugs if the noise bothers you. It was extremely reasonably priced, so a little noise was no bother.

In some sense, this hotel is in a great location: it's located between between the Barrio Lastarria district and Cerro Santa Lucia park and viewpoint and just a couple of minutes walk from the cafés of Bella Artes. It's also a couple of minutes walk from a metro stop on the red line.
Unfortunately, the hotel is also situated right beside the entrance to a busy road tunnel running beside the park and under Avenue O'Higgins. With the singly glazed windows and glass-bricked exterior walls in your room you won't sleep well at this hotel. Though our room had a very nice 40" LED TV, we couldn't watch anything due to the noise from the road combined with the room's heater: those glass-bricked walls don't keep in much heat and all you have to heat the room is a small electric heater which takes nearly 10 minutes to start emitting warm air.
Speaking of warming up, you'll need to run the hot tap at maximum to get a small flow of warm water from the shower. We never bothered with the cold tap and still the water was only slightly hot. We had a warmer, stronger shower at a lodge in the Peruvian rainforest.
All this in florescent-lit rooms, reception and breakfast room badly in need of renovation for an update to the 21st century. Hotel rooms are in short supply in Santiago: book early and avoid an icy stay at this hotel.

Windsor Suites did not respect my reservation, made through booking.com. Instead of apologizing for their overbooking, they first claimed not to have been notified, then even insulted me saying that my credit card had been refused. Fortunately I found another hotel nearby, but if you are not prepared to spend a night in the cold and dangerous streets of Santiago Centro, don´t EVER make a reservation at this hotel.

The hotel definitely needs renovation. The beds are large, but the furniture needs renewal. The restaurant of the hotel is oldie, but not goldie, although the breakfast is pretty ok. The place is quite clean, no need to worry about any living, crawling creatures :). Despite all these, the scenery is beautiful, the hotel being located just across the Santa Lucia Hill. The neighbourhood is very quiet and as you go out of the hotel just make right and the take the first street on the right, Padre Luis de Valdivia Street. There is the best Peruvian Cuisine Restaurant, named Costa Verde. The hotel is located in Barrio Lastarria. It is the perfect location, the subway station is 5 minutes away (by foot). The price per night is ok, 100 USD for a room with two king-size beds. The staff is friendly and quickly responsive. I will definitely return because of the location.

We had one night only in Santiago and just needed a basic hotel to enable us to explore easily and get the most of our time. This little hotel was great for this. It was quite dated and the rooms were not spotless, but it was good value and a great location.

Went here recently for business with a group of different people and we were treated really bad. Despise we have booked and paid for our reservations, staff were extremely rude! We demanded to talk to the manager and the staff said they didn't care and denied calling him. Some people of the group were different culture people (Brazilian and Peruvian Rainforest). Treated extremely rude and very discriminated. There are several better places round the area where to book and for similar prices you could get a much better and nicer place to stay. Avoid this as first option! Staff rude!

The furniture needs replacement, breakfast is simple, but enough to a fast trip and the beds are comfortable.
The best thing is a location, near lastarria, cerro santa lucia, downtown and metro.
It's safer and it's possible to do a lot of things by foot.
