This hostel is located right next to the Dignity Square which is the most active area of the protest but we feel very safe here. There are a lot of activities offered by the hostel. They even have a separate section for tours which we booked 3 with them for the 3 days we came back from Patagonia and before we leave to go home. The facility is very clean. There are a lot of toilets and bathrooms all throughout the whole complex and every room has one bathroom. The kitchen is quite small but also very clean. The staff are super friendly and helpful. You are not allowed to bring alcohol into the hostel since they have their own bar. There are eat & meet event every evening in case you are not feeling going out. The WiFi is very strong. We stayed here one night when we arrived to South America and came back to stay another 3 nights after Patagonia. The hostel is very secure. You need to pay a deposite for the key but it’s a tap key which you need to get in and out of the main door. There is a big supermarket about a few blocks walking distance in case you want to cook your own meal. Also, there is a liquor store also selling water right across the street. It’s a chaotic situation in Santiago right now unfortunately for travelers but Hostal Providencia provides us a very secure stay. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to San Tiago.

Great colourful and fun/cozy hostel set around a sunny central terrace. Lots of things to do. They offer each night a different dinner for bargain price. WiFi is excellent.

Free breakfast with limited choice. While we stayed no juice, but very decent hot coffee, eggs (self-making service), bread (although bit old), tea and jam/butter.

The double ensuite room was located in the front building, with high ceilings and rickety wooden floors. Window shades could’ve been better.

There might be quite some noise from either street or terrace (quiet after midnight).

Location in central Santiago is perfect, just as the helpful and always-present staff! Certainly recommended!

I stayed here for a week in a private double with private bathroom. The room was a good size, but quite dark decor, and very hot. It was on the main road so I couldn’t open the window due to the noise, and there was no fan provided. The Hostal is very close to the protests, which wasn’t a problem but something to be aware of, especially on Fridays when the protests are quite active. There is a lovely sunny courtyard to relax in, a bar, daily food prepared (payable), and a laundry, which is very convenient. There is also a travel desk, run by Paolo, who is really friendly and helpful, and got me better prices than other people had secured.

The Hostel Providencia is a great place to stay during your time in Santiago de Chile. It is located in a very safe zone of the city and there are often activities you can join to have a good time.

One of them is of course the Pub Crawl. The hostel does not organize such an event, but they do lend their facilities for the initial gathering and it’s simply amazing. I do remember they also had a “Terremotos” night where you could get such a drink for free, a Swag Party on a Wednesday, and also Perritos at 1000 CLP each.

I had a GREAT time and met so many people there. However, I do feel the hostel needs a little bit of organization. Thing is, I was placed in a dorm and had my name tag attached to my bed so no one else would sleep on it.

I took a shower and went out dancing at night with someone I had met that day, but left my comb on the bed. When I got back and went to my dorm, there was some guy sleeping on my bed with nothing but his boxers on. I talked to the front desk about it and didn’t make a big deal about it as I’m not the type to look for trouble.

I agreed to be placed in a different dorm to spend the night and then was supposed to go back to my original dorm once housekeeping had changed the sheets the next morning.

Day after arrived and I once again left the facilities to go out and explore. When I got back during the afternoon, I went to my dorm and the guy was still there.

I talked to the Front desk and told them I had no problems with changing dorms permanently. They checked to see who was staying in my bed, and it would turn out this guy was supposed to check out the night prior.

After I moved my stuff to a different dorm, I took a shower and got ready for the Pub Crawl, but the comb I had left in the bed which was taken by someone else, had disappeared and was never found.

I know it’s just a comb and it’s basically worthless, but I needed to comb my hair and couldn’t do so because of what had happened. After a day or 2, I was moved from the shared dorm to a private one to sort of compensate having been changed from one dorm to another so many times.

It was of course a better experience and they didn’t charge me for it. In short, I do believe the Hostel cares enough to find solutions, but organization is something they still need to work on.

I absolutely loved this hostel and the time I spent there.

Great place, great location, awesome staff - specially Javier and Lau.

I stayed at a private room / shared bathroom.
At first I was placed in a room that had a bit of a cigar smell at the time, but I spoke to the staff and they were very kind and found me another room.

I loved it how they offer dinner options every night, not only because of the good prices, but also because it's a way to bring people together. I met a lot of cool people and had a lot of fun. Special mention to Pisco Sour night, so cool!

If I go to Santiago again, I'm definitely staying at Hostal Providencia again.

The room smelled terrible. The front door to the hostal doesn't work properly. Upon exiting one morning while trying to open the door, I was yelled at by a staff member very rudely and loudly. It was unacceptable to speak to a guest that way. The housekeepers start very early and are incredibly loud. I would not stay here again.

We, me and my partner, stayed in Hostal Providencia for four nights in a private room with shared bathrooms. Although at the time there were protest relatively close to the hostel, we did find it was a very good location (and safe, if that matters) to explore Santiago. We really liked the staff, always fun and ready to help. They also encourage to have fun, which we greatly appreciated. They also helped us practice Spanish, thank you :).

One could say it is noisy at night, yet we found it within a descent amount of noisiness: it seems like the hostal can combine a bit of partying with a bit of relaxing. Breakfast is awesome for hungry Belgians. A point that could be improved is the organisation of the kitchen, we found it a bit small for the amount of guests.

The hostel is very big with a lot of amenities. I was in a 4 bed dorm. The room was spacious with a desk and chair and locker in the room big enough for my rucksack and day bag. There are not curtains on the bed. The bathrooms near my room were individual with a shower/bath and toilet. They were always clean and big enough to change in etc. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was great, people were friendly and approachable and on Friday (when I arrived) there was a social event starting which was very busy and looked fun. The reception staff spoke English. The location is decent, about an 8 minute walk from the metro and a short taxi to a lot of the tourist areas. The only negative I have to say about this hostel was that the check in took 45 minutes, but that is the only thing! I would recommend.

The staff was awesome the place is huge and there’s a lot of bathrooms and kitchens. Everything is clean and location is cool too in the providencia neighborhood. There’s also several coworking areas. I think there’s only 6 beds in each room because the first night these girls were talking loudly in the night so I asked to move and the staff moved me no problem

Excellent hostel, with lots of place on the ground floor to socialize, meet other travelers, and just chill. Hostel is easy to locate (though at the end of an alley, but not unsafe). The neighbourhood is fantastic, with a very nice park where kids and dogs etc play and enjoy the Santiago weather. It's a 10 min walk from Baquedano station, which gives direct connectivity to 2 of the frequently used metro lines (Line 1 and Line 5). The hostel staff are cheerful, and happy to help. There is a vending machine as well if you want to get a bottle of water etc. The rooms are a bit small and look like they have seen a bit of wear, but nothing that would prevent me from staying here again.
