We were warned about safety for our stay in Santiago but never once did we feel at risk and some of that has to do with the location of the Novotel, perfect location and a real ease to get around the city from there with lots of local restaurants and shopping just nearby as well as the Metro that was also easy to navigate.

The check in process was faultless and fast and we were upgraded to a nice suite, even though it was on the lowest floor for rooms in the building it was well proportioned and the bedroom and bathroom were top quality for a 4 star hotel.

On the whole the staff were welcoming and accommodating but we found some of the front desk staff to be quite rude on several occasions over our 8 night stay here,

The breakfast was okay, not brilliant by any standards but good enough to set us up for the day.

We booked transport through the hotel for our return to the airport and had it confirmed the day before at a price that was perfect and so we duly waited in reception for the car to arrive after checking our and confirming the car with the staff at the reception desk but once we got to 10 minutes after the allocated time that the car might not be coming. We approached reception who said the car was on its way and then after another 10 minutes no car had arrived and when approached again a manger came out to say that here was a mistake and no car had been booked but one was now on the way and it would cost more than we were quoted. He was rude and abrasive in his manner and said that a car had not been booked by us, intimating it was our fault that a car was not there.

This unfortunately soured our stay here because u- to this point we had enjoyed our time here…I understand the English is not a main language for many people and so if staff cannot understand they should feel free to say that and get someone who can converse and sort things out.

This hotel is relatively new. Our room was well-appointed and comfortable. Housekeeping was very good. The buffet breakfast was good and has made to order omelets – but that is not obvious at first because they are made in the kitchen, not in the seating area. Once you figure it out (you put your ingredients into a bowl and hand it to a server who amazingly finds you no matter where you sit) it is very good.
We stayed here on 12/28-30, 2019, 1/2 and 1/6/2020. It appeared that the hotel had a staff shortage between Christmas and New Year’s that had some effect upon service. This was not the case during the January dates. The location is good with a number of nice restaurants within a couple of blocks of the property along with a large mall with a very interesting food court.

Location.
The Novotel is located in Providencia, a vibrant, upmarket area of Santiago in Chile. The hotel is close to lots of nice cafes, bars and restaurants and just a safe 5 minute walk to the metro.

Check In.
The hotel was completely full during our stay, but reception were still able to check us in early. The process was friendly and efficient and the reception team were always pleasant and helpful if we ever had a query.

The Room.
Our room was a standard room on the 13th floor. The bed was very comfortable and the room contained all the usual facilities including a safe and a kettle for tea and coffee. On a trip around South America, this was the only hotel, that we stayed in with tea and coffee making facilities. The room was clean and in very good condition. Everything worked in the bathroom and shower pressure was strong.
We didn't test out the pool as we were only in Santiago for 5 days and wanted to cram in the tourist sights, but had a quick look and it looked nice and clean.

Breakfast
There was a good spread for breakfast each morning, although it was slightly repetitive, but that's pretty normal. The hot plates were very well cooked and presented. The coffee machine in the breakfast area was fantastic. Fresh fruit was plentiful and the cakes and pastries were delicious.

Staff
Of course as English speakers, we had a huge language barrier to get across, so we didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they were always very polite and friendly.

Check Out
Checkout was fast and smooth.

Value for Money
Some companies quote this hotel as a 3 star and some as a 4. We felt it rated a decent 4 stars and as such, it's great value for money, because of it's location and the condition of the hotel.

Final Summary
The best compliment we can give the Novotel Providencia, is to say that if we went back to Santiago, we wouldn't even bother looking Gor another hotel. This one was perfect.

I stayed at this hotel in March. At this point most restaurants/cafes etc were closed. I was depending upon the hotel restaurant for my 1 meal per day as I did not wish to risk my health on street food that had been sitting in the sun for who knows how long.
I went for dinner one night and despite a couple sitting in the restaurant eating, I was advised that the restaurant was closed as instructed by the government. I had no issue with this. My issue is that a request with assistance to order a pizza or something from a takeaway restaurant was rejected by the staff in the restaurant and the staff at reception. There was nothing open around the hotel so I had no option but to not eat anything. I found this really poor service from the staff as the quite obviously were no busy doing anything else at the time and they were not dealing with any other guests.

The rooms were nice. Service was appalling.

The hotel is new. I don’t like the breakfast at all - tasteless food. The service of the front desk is slow and not effective. If you want to order room service, more than half of the options of the menu are not available. I feel like the team of this hotel needs more training. The girls that clean the rooms make so much noise speaking loud in the aisles of the hotels.

We stayed in the Novotel Providencia upon our arrival in Santiago which meant we had to be quarantined in our room for 24 hours due to the government requirements at the time (early March 2022). It was a lovely place to be "stuck"! The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, and the bathroom, and room amenities were very nice. There was even a nice view from the room we got. The first day we needed to order room service and it was very quick and the food was good. After we were released from quarantine we were able to explore the area and found many nice restaurants and shops. We also ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was good.

We used the Novotel as our base entering and exiting Chile and it was a great decision. The hotel's prices are quite reasonable compared to other budget options in the area and has everything you need. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well furnished. The hotel is in a nice area of town with plenty of services nearby. It is a little far from tourist attractions, but a cheap Uber can easily get you to the area of town that has the museum or attraction you would like to visit. The hotel has a very large breakfast and affordable room service (the pizza was good). The employees are friendly, helpful, and most speak English. After spending a long time in Patagonia at budget cabins and inns, this was such a comfortable and reliable hotel to return to. I highly recommend the Novotel as an excellent value that has everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Hotel was ideal for a 4 day visit to Santiago. As mentioned by others the location is safe to access during the evening. The hotel is only a short walk to line 1 of the Santiago metro if you feel comfortable using to get around (easy to use for non Spanish speaker).

All the facilities and room were above standard compared to Novotel properties in Australia and Europe. Alison at the front desk was always happy to assist and arrange transport and answer questions. All front desk staff spoke English.

Would stay again.

After a shaky start things got a whole lot better. I had requested a high floor room but we were given a low floor one overlooking a construction site. My Accor status wasn’t recognized and I had to ask for our welcome drinks. We were then moved to the 17th floor with beautiful city views. The rest of the reception team we dealt with were very helpful. They arranged our transfers to Valparaíso and facilitated a late check out which was much appreciated. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast especially the omelettes made to order. This is a very modern bright and airy hotel in a very good location in Provendencia. We found lots of nice restaurants and bars in the nearby area.

Excellent stay at this hotel recently. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean with good showers. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice of food. The restaurant and bar were very good and the staff there very helpful.
A special mention to our waiter Eduardo Palma, who was able to welcome, and chat with us in English, and enjoyed speaking in several languages to many of the guests .... a real asset to the hotel.
Highly recommended

[1] Yes. [2] I think so, but it's much cheaper to take the Metro to Los Héroes station and transfer there to an airport bus. It's probably also cheaper to take a taxi the whole way between the hotel and th airport.
