The room was spacious, grand, spotless and had the most magnificent view over lake Villarrica.
The staff were so lovely and the breakfast buffet was excellent.
The hotel and gardens were lovingly cared for. All the little extras so made it special; wine glasses and bottle opener in our room, board games down in the sitting room, books to borrow/swap. Beautiful settings and views for hidden outdoor seating areas.
It so exceeded any other accommodation we had in Chile.
Rooms were very neat and clean
service was very prompt
breakfast choices were good
facility was on the highway. you need to follow gps to get correct directions
the mountain view was excellent
2 days after we got there, this medium size black dog came over to us. She was very friendly and lovable. She had a dislocated elbow on her front right paw. We being the animal lovers that we are gave her some food and hence she followed us around the hotel and even slept outside the door of our cabana.
Days went by no one said anything bad about the dog and no one knew where it came from, it had just recently showed up. On the day before checking out, 2 other dogs came into the property and one of them attacked her and bit her. I heard the commotion and went to see what had happened. She was in some pain and bleeding from her rear right leg. So the day went on and she stayed by our cabana still.
On the day we were checking out, i asked the taller receptionist if she knew anything about the 2 dogs that were roaming around the day before. She said no. Then i told her how they attacked "our" dog and that she is now hurt on her back leg also, with a little blood. Her response was "oh she must've gotten bitten" and that's all. So i went on to go and sit by the lobby before leaving to get the last bit of wifi before hitting the road. I thought they would be ok with her being around since they have bowls for cat food outside the reception area and since they hadn't said anything about her for the last week.
As we were sitting there i heard her calling on the radio to one of the male workers to come and kick out the "bleeding dog"....i was in shock! I was so sad! thinking that maybe i shouldn't have mentioned that she got attacked and that she was bleeding.
Anyways i figured i can't do anything about it, they'll shoo her away and that she'll prob come back or maybe they'll take mercy on her when they see her hurt.
WRONG! the guy came with a metal rod and started walking towards her (while she was trying to nap on a sunny area) making noises with the rod on the floor. I yelled at him and told him "at least DONT hit her", next thing i know i hear her crying and whining and running out fast, limping and with her tail between her legs.
I was so heart broken for her and SO angry that they wouldn't take mercy on a dog that was doing NOTHING wrong. All she needed was a sunny area to recover in and a place that was free of dogs that would bully her.
That left such a bad feeling of the place as we left..which we did stormed off after seeing that. I again expressed my self out loud and said that it was quite ugly how they treat animals at this hotel.
I was loving this place so much, up until the last day. If you see her around please don't let them mistreat her again.
The ample rooms, kitchen and wonderful surroundings make it a perfect choice for families.
Take into account that you'll need a car to get to and from the hotel (about 10 minutes drive to the town).
"I recommend to bring jackets because it can be cold at night. A good place to eat is La Maga and Casis. Good stay 😃"Read full review
"We stayed in the Choshuenco room, which was an apartment in a lodge. Lots of space, and a great patio overlooking the lake."Read full review
