We stayed at the Hotel & Apartments Monte Verde for 3 nights and so wished we had booked for more.

The room was spacious, grand, spotless and had the most magnificent view over lake Villarrica.

The staff were so lovely and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

The hotel and gardens were lovingly cared for. All the little extras so made it special; wine glasses and bottle opener in our room, board games down in the sitting room, books to borrow/swap. Beautiful settings and views for hidden outdoor seating areas.

It so exceeded any other accommodation we had in Chile.

Amazing place. We were in Cabaña Rupanco, everything was very clean and with heating in addition to the Bosca stove. We used the heated pool, which is outdoors and is reserved for one hour of use at no additional cost. Well-equipped kitchen and barbecue grill. First level care. 100% recommendable.

Absolutely nice, quiet accommodation! There was absolutely nothing to complain about. Great breakfast, clean and large room, nice hosts. Great! The hotel is just outside the city, of course you have to drive, that's just the price of the tranquility.

My husband and i stayed here for about 7 days total. The place is beautiful, clean and the staff does whatever it can to fulfill your needs. They weren't the friendliest, a bit short and cold, but they got the job done. Anyways i didn't give this place the 4 points it deserves because on our last day they mistreated a dog that had been roaming the property.

2 days after we got there, this medium size black dog came over to us. She was very friendly and lovable. She had a dislocated elbow on her front right paw. We being the animal lovers that we are gave her some food and hence she followed us around the hotel and even slept outside the door of our cabana.

Days went by no one said anything bad about the dog and no one knew where it came from, it had just recently showed up. On the day before checking out, 2 other dogs came into the property and one of them attacked her and bit her. I heard the commotion and went to see what had happened. She was in some pain and bleeding from her rear right leg. So the day went on and she stayed by our cabana still.

On the day we were checking out, i asked the taller receptionist if she knew anything about the 2 dogs that were roaming around the day before. She said no. Then i told her how they attacked "our" dog and that she is now hurt on her back leg also, with a little blood. Her response was "oh she must've gotten bitten" and that's all. So i went on to go and sit by the lobby before leaving to get the last bit of wifi before hitting the road. I thought they would be ok with her being around since they have bowls for cat food outside the reception area and since they hadn't said anything about her for the last week.

As we were sitting there i heard her calling on the radio to one of the male workers to come and kick out the "bleeding dog"....i was in shock! I was so sad! thinking that maybe i shouldn't have mentioned that she got attacked and that she was bleeding.

Anyways i figured i can't do anything about it, they'll shoo her away and that she'll prob come back or maybe they'll take mercy on her when they see her hurt.

WRONG! the guy came with a metal rod and started walking towards her (while she was trying to nap on a sunny area) making noises with the rod on the floor. I yelled at him and told him "at least DONT hit her", next thing i know i hear her crying and whining and running out fast, limping and with her tail between her legs.

I was so heart broken for her and SO angry that they wouldn't take mercy on a dog that was doing NOTHING wrong. All she needed was a sunny area to recover in and a place that was free of dogs that would bully her.

That left such a bad feeling of the place as we left..which we did stormed off after seeing that. I again expressed my self out loud and said that it was quite ugly how they treat animals at this hotel.

I was loving this place so much, up until the last day. If you see her around please don't let them mistreat her again.

We stayed in the new building with a great room and a fantastic view. But without a car the hotel is not very convenient, even with the ViPu Ray bus. The breakfast was a major disappointment; packaged food on a tray. They need to do better. The spa was covered with green algae.

Great views from balcony, yes, but hot tub not available on a Sunday when we were there, outdoor pool uninviting - cool pool water with some leaves making water appear green & unclean, grass surrounding pool all overgrown. Cold shower only in sauna area. No hot water in bedroom, had to ask for it to be switched on next day, no fridge in room (our friends had one), electrical sockets - some not working, no ceiling fan or air con. Appreciated access to tea/coffee/water in dining room area and complimentary 1/2 bottle wine & water in bedroom. Stained bedroom carpet and gap in wooden door leading to balcony. Lodges look a better bet. WiFi temperamental. Staff were friendly though.

We stay at one of the "cabanas" away from the main hotel building (which has about 4 rooms anyway). The cabana was actually a house with 3 bedrooms (the master bedroom is huge!). We had a fully equipped kitchen and a barbecue on the main deck. Each cabana has car access and parking, so being away from the main building wasn't an issue (anyway we were there just for checking in and out). We didn't take the hotel breakfast since we enjoyed much having our own breakfasts on the deck and watching the lake.
The ample rooms, kitchen and wonderful surroundings make it a perfect choice for families.
Take into account that you'll need a car to get to and from the hotel (about 10 minutes drive to the town).

We were in 'Pescador', one of the rooms in the hotel, for 7 nights. It was warm and cosy with a super king sized bed. The bathroom was clean and adequate but the highlight was the stunning view overlooking the lake- what a wonderful way to wake up every morning. The breakfast can only be described as adequate in terms of choice and quality, everything was supermarket processed food and even the fruit was tinned. What a shame that they could not use local, fresh produce and the service at breakfast could have been better. However the dining area was very cosy with the wood burning stove and with a lovely view. The staff at reception could not do enough to help with maps, advice on where to travel etc and were all very friendly. On our last morning we had a very early departure and so we were given a tray the night before with some bread, cheese, ham, fruit and juice which was very welcome. We would go back and would ask for either Pescador or Casador as both have the stunning lake views. There is plenty of free parking on site. Room has small safe, fridge and has its own security alarm.

Four of us stayed in a cabana at Monteverde in October this year. The Cabanas are located about 5kms out of Pucon town, which is an easy drive, and the bus will also stop outside if you ask. The cabanas are situated on a steep hill overlooking the Lago Villarrica, and the view is amazing. Our cabana had three bedrooms (we only used two) with very comfortable, large beds and excellent linen. There were two clean and well appointed bathrooms (one en suite) and the cabana was cleaned (including washing breakfast dishes) daily. The kitchen was small but well equipped with fridge, oven, stove and everything else you needed, and was open plan to the lounge with a great fireplace/stove and dining table. The best part was the deck which overlooked the lake and had a barbecue and table for sunshine-filled evening barbecues. Truly one of the best places we stayed in Chile - there is so much to do in the area, and the accommodation is so comfortable, I would recommend that you book more days than you think you need. We had three, and it was definitely too short.
