So first off a special shout out to the owner Rodrigo who is a hero among men!!!! Actually drove us to our bus and recomened us a restaurant and then actually popped in to see how we were getting on. BEST value for money ever, we paid 20 000 a night and would have paid 30. Amazing atmosphere with constant wood burning fire in the common area. They takegreat pride in there service and are truly go the extra mile people. Probably the best ´place we´ve stayed in six weeks of backpacking. Couldn´t recomend more, you´ll love it!

in September 2013 I had the opportunity to go to the pucon with my family and I stayed at this cozy place. Clean, organized, safe, close to a large supermarket and nearby road. Humane care. Rodrigo is the owner a friend and can be sure that he will do everything he can to be the best stay possible. I'll be back soon to try to climb the Villa Rica again.

Our upstairs room was comfortable, warm and had lots of natural light. The breakfasts were generous and included eggs and fresh bread. The location was walking distance to bus stations, many restaurants and supermarkets.

I'm so happy that we found this home away from home. We arrived at 7:30 am and found the door open and the wood stove burning. We were provided with a welcome breakfast, early check-in and help renting a car for our stay. I met some nice people at breakfast both days and even watched a RedSox game last night! Easy access to town but quiet on a back street neighborhood. super clean, comfortable space and friendly people.

We stayed at El Nogal for 5 nights. The Hostal is 10/15mins from the centre of Pucon but we didn't find this to be a problem, it was generally quiet at night.
The accommodation is log cabin style, there is a large communal kitchen/dining/living area with wood burners.
The rooms are small but cosy and have heating. We had an ensuite with a warm shower. Beds and bedding were good.
Breakfast was included, you could make your own eggs but otherwise it was the usual unhealthy affair of white bread and fake juice. Some fruit would have been nice.
The owner Rodrigo is very helpful and always around to offer assistance. He gave us lifts to and from the bus station, organised a car rental and helped us with maps and what to do. You can also use the common area if waiting for a bus after you have checked out.
A couple of small issues that we noted- there is no door between the corridor to the rooms and the communal area plus the room walls are quite thin so you can really hear other people talking, I guess it depends on the other guests- one night we were woken up by some loud people cooking and then talking until 2am. This makes it feel more like a hostel than a B&B. Perhaps a sign asking people to be quiet after a certain time would do the trick.
Another niggle was that if you wanted your room cleaned you had to move your stuff into the corridor. We didn't like doing this and leaving our valuables unlocked. General cleanliness was good.
A good stay for a reasonable price.

We arrived in Pucon around 7am on a cold and drizzly morning. El Nogal is only a few minutes walk away from the bus terminal but Rodrigio had come to pick us up! On arrival we were offered breakfast which we appreciated and our room was ready. We had one of the outside rooms with a bathroom which was warm and cosy. Hot water in the shower - just dont have one at the same time as another room!
Rodrigio was so helpful, even though he spoke little English and we spoke even less Spanish we still managed to communicate fine and appreciated his tips on bike rentals, tour agencies and car rental. On our last day we had an overnight bus but he kindly let us use the showers and common area after rafting until we needed to leave. There is a good kitchen to cook in and breakfast differs from eggs to fruit salad but always with bread and yoghurt. Location was just a short walk to the centre of Pucon, 2 mins to bus terminal and supermarket. Wifi worked fine throughout.
Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a homely place to stay and appreciates good hospitality. Not a party hostel but suited us fine.
Thank you again Rodrigio.

Everything in this hostal is excellent. It is the second time that I stayed there
(and probably not the last one). This hostal makes you feel like home, you can anticipate the check-in (if the room is available). Rodrigo (the owner) make you feel comfortable, always helping you in everything. The installation is excellent, the rooms, the heater, the shower, ... Everything. I definitely recommend this Hostal.

The hosts are wonderful and good people. We spent six days in Hostel El Nogal during our around the world travel. Rodrigo gave us family atmosphere, delicious breakfast, comfortable room and a lot of help. Hostel is located around 10 minutes walk from city center, 4 minutes walk from Tur Bus station, big supermarket and couple of great Fruit/Vegetalbe local shops. There is also nice view of the Villarica volcano. We totally recommend it. We felt there like at home.

+1
Read the reviews, what everyone says is true!! The hostel has everything one could need, including Rodrigo, the world's best host (as well as his adorable pup, Nita)! Although we communicated through Spanglish, Rodrigo was SOOO helpful, setting up activities for us, looking into an airport transfer, and went above and beyond to assure that our stay was ideal.
We stayed in the detached "apartment". There were 2 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, and a shared kitchen space. We stayed in the larger room, that had both a double bed and a twin bed (which was great for laying out all of our things). The kitchen space was fabulous! We really felt like we had our own space, and breakfast was delivered every morning. Free Wifi is always a plus as well!
We appreciated that the hostel was a bit off the beaten path. 2 blocks from the grocery and Tur-Bus station, and about an 8 minute walk into town. The area was quiet at night and had a lovely neighborhood feel. The price cannot be beat for what you get at Hostal el Nogal. I plan to recommend this hostel to anyone I know visiting Pucon!
PS- If you come from another country, bring Rodrigo a flag! Rodrigo- your US flag will be in the mail shortly!
