Located in the picturesque Araucanía region of Chile’s Lake District, homeland of the courageous Mapuche people, is the spectacular 22-hectare (34-acre) estate &Beyond Vira Vira. Dramatic landscapes of breathtaking glacial lakes mirror the snowy tips of nearby volcanoes, while within the rainforests gracing the surrounding national parks, evergreen Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle) trees, some over 1 000 years old, stand tall. This region is both the gateway to Patagonia, and a thrilling adventure haven. Immersed on this forested estate with 822 m (2,696 ft) of river frontage and breathtaking views of the snow-capped Villarica Volcano, this magnificent wooden lodge is themed in beauty. Enormous windows frame exquisite outlooks, while vibrant wall tapestries, hand-woven textiles and other traditional artefacts colour the interior décor. Signature features include a modern working farm, organic farm-to-table vegetable garden, on-site boutique cheese factory and two outdoor hot tubs.

From the time we arrived until our departure, the service provided was great. Our guide, Jorge, was exceptional and we enjoyed a raft trip as well as numerous hikes in the surrounding area with him. The meals were all very good with many farm to table dishes.

Having stayed at an &Beyond previously, Vira Vira took our expectations with the brand to another level. This is an outstanding property with all staff committed to making sure guests receive the best experience possible. Surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens and fronted by a small lake, fringed by a well maintained rural environment, beside a pristine river, this location is peaceful and relaxing the moment you arrive. From the warm welcome through to departure, every aspect of the stay exceeded expectations. Common areas are spacious for relaxation, the location of tables for meals well planned, overall guest amenities excellent. We stayed in a suite in the main building, it had loads of space and had a superbly large and well designed ensuite. Light and airy, with outdoor balcony seating overlooking the property, the room had positive kharma! Of the numerous properties we stayed over 4 weeks in Chile, the chef and the kitchen at Vira Vira was one at the top of the scale. A wonderful menu selection of superbly presented and tasty food. With a terrific range and array of activities on offer, with your personal guide, in an area that offers adventure, leisure, culture and wellness opportunities, no day here is boring - there is something for any interest. The personal touches and 'surprises' just went that level above the norm. If wanting for a top of the range stay, we strongly recommend &Beyond Vira Vira.

Ok so once we had seen the BBC programme 'Behind the lobby' my wife wanted us to stay here. She consequently built an 18 night holiday in Chile all around staying at this fabulous resort for 4 nights. Yes its expensive but when you actually breakdown what you get for your money it actually makes a load of sense. From arriving at the local airport and meeting your driver who has a couple of lunch bags for you to eat on the 2.5Hr journey to the actual arrival itself with staff waiting with cold towels and friendly smiles, the whole experience is delightful! The room we had was smart and spacious with your own balcony overlooking the small lake in which ducks and a lonley swan glide around in. Downstairs is the dining area and bar and you can get a coffee or something stronger pretty much when you want. The meals throughout the day are exceptional and they will always do something to your own taste if you want. Everything is true to the local Mapuche culture with plenty of local products around the resort. When you arrive you sit down with your dedicated private guide to discuss what activities you would like to do during your stay (all included in the cost) We got really lucky as our guide was a delightful fella called Felipe who we took to straight away. For the next 4 doors Felipe treated us to some experiences that overwhelmed our senses. But without doubt if you do go pls request Felipe as your guide as he will make your stay and absolute joy!

our family recently spent 4 wonderful days at vira vira. we stayed in the beautifully decorated 5-bedroom hacienda where we were able to relax together, enjoy delicious and creative meals in the privacy of our own dining room, and partake of the activities in the area of pucon with our two dedicated guides. what really made our visit unforgettable? the extraordinary personal attention and service we experienced. no request was too much. whatever we wanted or needed, the answer was always “yes”. on a rainy afternoon, we wanted to watch a movie in the hacienda. someone came over with cables and set us up. vira vira’s staff always went out of their way for our 3 generation group...highlights included visiting the traditional mapuche cultural ruka where we played a game of palin/chueca (field hockey), enjoying a lavish bbq lunch on the banks of the river, climbing the volcano (the two climbers said it was the hardest thing they have ever done!), horseback riding in the countryside, visiting the nearby hot springs, kayaking on a volcanic lake, and float fishing down a crystal clear river. the most amazing experience was when the general manager appeared at our door with specially prepared cookie dough, cookie cutters, multi-colored icings, and various decorative sprinkles to bake holiday cookies with the two youngest members of our group, ages 5 and 6! there was no way our visit could have been better.

We have stayed at several &Beyond properties in Africa. We chose to come to Chile because of &Beyond Vira Vira. We were not disappointed. Once again, &Beyond exceeds our expectations.

We stayed in Villa #12. It was beautiful. We had a sitting area to enjoy the view. The bathroom was large with a tub and beautiful shower. Everything was situated so that you can appreciate the view, even the desk. There was plenty of space for our luggage, clothing and hiking equipment. We brought our own sticks even though they were provided. There is a nespresso machine as well as a tea kettle in the room. Housekeeping secretly comes in 2-3 times a day to stock the bar and tidy up.

The restaurant was exceptional. Presentations are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Food - excellent. Special shout out to Ricardo, our mixologist, while we were there. Makes the best drinks ever.

Our guide was Nicolas and I cannot say enough good things about him. He was always prepared with our activity as well as being able to answer all questions from politics to nature. We did the following: kayaking, 1/2 day hike, full day hike, 1/2 mountain biking, white water rafting, cheese tour, and for an additional charge - helicopter tour of the volcano.

Because the lodge was not at capacity, we had Nicolas as our personal guide the entire time we were there (4 nights). Front desk staff was pleasant and always ready to help. We cannot recommend Vira Vira enough.

We were planning trip to Chile with Abercrombie & Kent mainly to visit Easter Island and they recommended andBeyond Vira Vira as a way to experience an outstanding property in another part of the country. We were familiar with the andBeyond brand from their properties in Africa but never stayed at one of their lodges. We saw this property had outstanding reviews and they clearly lived up to them. The lodge is on an exquisite property and designed to fit in the environment. It has outstanding design and is well maintained. We had an all-inclusive package that included all your food and drinks and a wide range of activities with excellent guides.

We stayed in a villa which is separate from the main building which is and large and very nicely furnished and equipped. Our room was set by a small river and we enjoyed the sounds of flowing water and birds when we left the door open. It would get cool at night, and we had a nice fireplace in the villa and they would come in and set up a fire while we were at dinner.

The food and drinks were outstanding. Each meal had new choices and the quality and quantity of the food were exceptional. I am not sure how they got their provisions in this remote location, but the meat and fish were wonderful, and the vegetables locally grown. The food was prepared and plated to the highest standards. There was also a nice selection of excellent Chilian wines on the included wine list and they were glad to give you bottles to take back you your room. The bartenders were craftspeople had interesting different specialty drinks.

The people were delightful, and the staff made you feel welcomed and well cared for from reception to wait staff and housekeeping. Best of all were the guides and the included activities. We stayed for three nights and got to experience a raft float down the river by the hotel, two hikes in the local national parks, kayaking in a lake in another park and a village tour.

andBeyond Vira Vira is truly an outstanding resort and wonderful experience.

Just returned from a 7 night stay with my family of 4 – Wife and 2 kids (11 & 12). We travel 4 times a year all over the world and this was one of our best trips ever. Traveling to Chile is challenging right now due to the Covid measures in place for visiting so it was by far one of the most stressful trips I have ever planned. But everything went perfectly and I need to give a shoutout to Cleo at andBeyond who answered all my questions and kept me calm and informed.

The Lodge – Flawless. Extremely well maintained, luxurious and comfortable. Not a single issue and spotless. Beautiful location right on the river.

Food – I’m not a foodie. Have never really cared much about food as long as I eat. This place had, by far, the best food I have ever had. Even breakfast was gourmet. Veggies tasted different and I actually ate more in a day than I have in years at home they were that good. Best steak and veal I have ever eaten by a wide margin. Deserts were creative and amazing.

Service – Hard to believe that in today’s challenging hospitality environment when most are struggling to deliver even basic level service they excelled. Our rooms were made up at least 3 times a day and I never saw them. Service at the restaurants was the most attentive and friendly I have ever experienced. A few mentions: Julian, Leylah and Claudio, our waiters, were so patient and friendly. Ricardo and Diego, bartenders, made amazing drinks for our entire family. Greg, the Manager, was friendly and professional and checked in on us frequently.

Activities – We had our own private guide, Patricio, for the entire week and he was excellent. Knowledgeable, patient, friendly and funny. The list of activities is long. Here is what we did: Glacier Hike (not to be missed), 2x White Water Rafting, 2x Fishing, 2x Horseback riding, Canyoning down a 200+ foot waterfall, River Floating, Cheese Factory and Garden tour. We were busy the entire week.

Overall, excellent value for the money. This was our 3rd stay and andBeyond properties and definitely not the last.

Improvement Opportunities: Can’t think of one.

There is a reason why andBeyond Vira Vira has a 5 star rating…you cannot go wrong here! My husband and I stayed for 6 nights and were very sad to leave. Lodge Manager Gregory Franc is doing a fantastic job and his entire team are genuinely happy to assist in making your stay comfortable, enjoyable and memorable. Jessica at the Front Desk was awesome and always super helpful and Nicolas our Guide was the BEST. Nicolas is so knowledgeable which made him an awesome guide. We are already making plans to return next year.

We stayed for 6 nights/7 days and did not get bored once. If you don't feel like doing any activities offsite one can walk around the beautiful grounds, get a spa treatment, soak in the hot tub, visit their own cheese factory, etc.

Meals: Gourmet 3-course Lunch & Dinners / Breakfast Buffet
Staff: Super friendly, attentive & helpful
Activities: They have something for all levels — They have Half Day and Full Day activities. Full Day activities typically start at 9A or earlier depending on what Full Day activity you choose. And if you choose a half day activity in the morning, you will be back in time for Lunch. If you choose a half day activity in the afternoon, it will typically start after lunch. And Full Day activities include a picnic lunch which the Guide happily carries in his pack.
Villa: Very spacious and comfortable w/ awesome views; The Bathroom had a double vanity, soaking tub overlooking the river, walk-in shower and separate room for toilet

Seriously, THE place to go!

Kudos to the Vira Vira team for our very private stay in late August. We visited during a quiet time at the lodge and enjoyed a very personal and intimate experience. The food is a highlight — Chef Damian is a maestro, preparing delicious, beautifully presented dishes - lots of freshly caught seafood, local vegetables, and cheeses from their local farm. Juan provided engaging table service, and we looked forward to every meal overlooking the scenic lagoon, forest and mountain landscape. We were lucky to have Antonio as a private guide, as we were the only guests on excursions during our visit. It was a worthwhile trek to see the mountain lakes and waterfalls. We booked a lovely suite overlooking the lagoon, located in the main building where dining and excursions depart. But, we stayed in a villa and appreciated the larger seating area when we stayed in due to rain. Villas require an outdoor walk to the dining room and overlook the river. The grounds are bucolic with grazing sheep and cows. There’s a small gym and two hot tubs - and we enjoyed the bath salts in our large in-villa tub. Villas also have a spacious outdoor tub, not usable during the winter months.

This was our first visit to Chile and third stay with andBeyond, and we will continue to stay with andBeyond around the world. The level of hospitality, quality of lodging and amenities, and excellence of meals are outstanding and well worth it.

What a wonderful stay in the Lakes District. Rooms: we had villa #10. Well appointed, comfortable and good shower. Beautiful view of the river.
Activities: we did a river float, hiked in both national parks and helicopter sightseeing. Guides were kind and knowledgeable. We had Eddie and Nicholas for our activities.
Food: you won’t be hungry. Good menus with 3 courses for lunch and dinner with two options for each course. Snacks sent on activities. Full bar (premium liquors and wines have up charge) and wine for dinner we’re very good. Bartender Diego can make some lovely cocktails.
Overall a wonderful stay. This is our second andBeyond experience and both are exceptional.
