Alternate breakfast in and out, there are plenty of cafés around.
You stay for the view, the swimming pool and the location, they do take serious measures regarding sanitization which is good.
The furniture is old and not well taken care of...
I give points to the bedrooms cleaning ladies, who are adorable, make a great job, every day in your room and you can tell they miss the old good days of this mythical hotel. Sad.
Not impressed with breakfast as it is the same food daily and hardly any vegetarian options such as rice / vegetables. No unsweetened yogurt( asked for it but was flatly refused).
Decor of hotel in the main lobby and restaurant very 1920s. Feel of nostalgia. Have to pay extra for swim caps in swimming pool which is fine to prevent clogging of filters. At least the pool is warm and clean.
- The good: excellent cleanliness, very friendly and attentive staff. Very good and very varied breakfast. Unbeatable location.
- The bad: there are very few lounge chairs and generally they are all occupied or “reserved” with towels (when this is not allowed according to hotel rules). The staff comments that guests can remove belongings from those lounge chairs that have not been used for hours, which can lead to a bad time, as it was in my case. On the other hand, by FAR the worst, is the noise until so late. The activities are carried out in front of the rooms, they pass by shouting with a microphone and with loud music.
- In conclusion, it is a modern hotel with good services, especially for families with children. However, the price is absolutely exaggerated for the low quality of rest you get there.
Finally when we arrived at the Hotel Pucon told the woman who was at the reception about our accident and that we were really sorry that we had to cancel 3 nights due to this unexpected event (and that in our Honeymoon :( ) it was stressing. As we were talking to this woman she didn't almost look at us, just at her computer and when she did, she looked at us with a face like: I don't care at all about your accident and didn't said any word like: Oh sorry to hear that!. She had no empathy. She just ask us with a sharper tone in no friendly way: So, do you want to reserved?. And we said: Yes, we would like that (cause we already had 1 night left) and would like to stay 2 nights more.
As we were finally going the way to the room, we thought that we never experienced such bad client service and then we opened the door and it was a really old bedroom.. I was shocked. I thought she could at least give us a nice bedroom for our honeymoon (and it wasn't at all worth the price!)
Everything was old in that bedroom, from the curtains (in a dark depressing color), the walls, the mattress (not comfortable at all), the decoration of the bedroom was just depressing in general. Absolutely not what you would like in your Honeymoon. You cant excused her behavior thinking that she was stressed, because it was during the off season and it where just few tourists at the Hotel. We are absolutely not the type of persons that complains at all, but this was too much and I wanted to write this feedback for the next "clients".
The only 2 good things were: the location with the beautiful views and the abundant delicious breakfast.
The toilet is poorly done when they do it.
The restaurant was disgusting, poor quality food, they say they have a chef, but it seems he has zero experience. The pool without maintenance, bare at the bottom.
For emergencies they have no way to cover them.
This hotel is a shame, its quality is not recommended.
The climate control
of the pool is a bad joke.
Poor breakfast.. has no natural orange juice and nothing that stands out
Too bad the location is so perfect and the staff of the Hotel poorly trained . we came to help many foreign tourists, since no one speaks English at the reception at the time we were there was a convention with people from 53 different countries.. Enjoy the network... I could do something else
The Gran Hotel is lovely historical hotel on the beach with unfortunately incredibly bad customer service. Dismissive. Basically no one particularly cared, not particularly thrilled you chose their hotel and bordered on just plain rude.
But.. that said this was just my experience and had three notable exceptions.
the cleaning personnel, breakfast was nice, and had a room with a view.
All appreciated but moved due to attitude and unhelpfulness.
After two days moved to a much friendlier hostal and enjoyed the rest of my time
in Pucon,
Thank you

When we checked in we felt like we were being treated as potential thieves. It seemed odd that we were issued a TV remote control that we needed to return it to the desk on departure. Also the odd requirement that we wear a permanent plastic wrist band just to tell the dining room we had paid for breakfast seemed quite tacky.
We were first assigned to a room on the third floor directly across from rooms that were undergoing remodeling. Workers were still working at 6 p.m. and dust was everywhere. We asked for another room and they gave us a nice room on the second floor – but we had to wait while they made a key for the room. We moved our own luggage because although we requested a bellman he never appeared – although the hotel was far from busy.
In the room it seemed odd that there was no manual way to operate the lock from the inside of the room. Once you are in the room you have to use your key to lock and unlock the deadbolt lock. Two days later we found how much of a problem this is. We were in our room when someone knocked on the door. When we responded they went away without answering. They had however used the key in the lock. We then found ourselves locked in our room. Our key would not open the door from the inside. When the desk clerk arrived we found that the master key, while it would open the door from the outside, would not work on the inside.
Beyond our room problems the Gran Hotel Pucon is far from grand. It appears to be understaffed and the building and grounds are in need of long deferred maintenance. The pier on the lake is completely broken down and looks like it has been that way for at least a year. The small Hotel Huincahue across the park does not have a view but looked like a better option.
