Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 2 months this year. Overall our stay was very comfortable, but we did find that we had to keep reporting minor problems, so cannot give the hotel 5 stars. First the good points:
Short walk from Tiong Bahru Food Centre
Bus 123 goes straight to Sentosa
It’s well served by buses, but you need to take a bus to the nearest MRT station (or walk for about 10 minutes)
Because we stay longer than 30 days, we get a free upgrade to a soho suite. So we have a separate living room, complete with sink, so it all feels quite spacious (for anywhere and especially for Singapore).
We have a door straight onto the street. At the end of day, we can get a taxi to drop us off 3m from our room! We don't have to go to hotel reception first, when I'm tired that's a blessing. It took a few days to work out how to direct drivers to our room, but in the end, we managed it over 90% of the time.
There's a laundrette about 60m from our room
Taxis are easy to wave down not far from our room
The bed is really comfortable, with good quality linen
A supermarket is 2 bus stops away, without much walking
Rooms are comfortable, and kept very clean. We had ample space and it was a great place to relax at the end of the day.
The coffee bar next to reception serves excellent Singapore coffee (i.e. not Western coffee), the price is very reasonable for an air-conditioned café.
So what are the problems:
Road noise can be irritating in the sitting room, but the bedroom is extremely quiet.
The room is described as having a kettle and microwave, when we arrived it had neither. It took 2 phone calls to reception before we finally got a kettle. The first person was convinced the kettle was hidden in a cupboard, and even when assured we had checked, did nothing. On the second call, we finally got through to them there really was no kettle, and they did send us a replacement within minutes.
We just gave up on the microwave. It wasn’t worth complaining yet again as we seldom use it.
The phone didn’t work, after we reported it, they sent a replacement, however using it is difficult because there are no instructions.
I do feel they should make an effort to ensure everything in the rooms is working properly before guests arrive, it really makes a difference to how the guests feel.
We paid weekly, and they reset the keycard each time. One week they got the date wrong, leaving us locked out of the room late evening. It’s a 5 minute walk to reception across a busy road (yes there’s a lift and walkway, we couldn’t use it because it needs the keycard to access it).
Then there’s the cleaner who left us lots of water bottles, but didn’t leave us any coffee or sugar.
All these minor problems are not good in a hotel in this price range. But overall we did enjoy our stay, and hope to go back when the current coronavirus disaster is over.

Recently I tried out the Link Hotel along Tiong Bahru Road in Singapore. This is a semi-heritage yet affordable hotel where it was converted from a former housing block which was built in the 1950s. There are many hotels in Singapore which was built from old colonial buildings but this was not from traditional colonial structure but it was from a housing project during Singapore colonial era. So it is worth a try. It is situated just five minutes from possibly one of the most famous “Hawker Centers” a non-air conditioning” local food court that serves great local food. It is the Tiong Bahru Hawker Center. The room is reasonably comfortable and the hotel is ideal for a budget conference venue. The sale manager, Nana Manikam is a very helpful person.

Selected this hotel based on 2 things, Firstly, price secondly location. When checking my usual places to stay in Singapore I noted their prices were all very much on the high side. Being a family stay, and part of a longer trip, price became important.
The price was ok for the nights we needed. Location wise, the Link is 150m from Havelock MRT. Once on the MRT nowhere is far from anywhere.
The hotel is one of the older ones around but was clean, seemed well maintained. The room was small, Ibis hotel type small but was ok for sleeping. Bed was comfy and towels in the bathroom were nice thick and soft.
Staff were helpful.
There's limited offerings for western meals esp breakfast at the hotel, but a very good bakery is close by. There are other places to eat nearby too for other meals.
The hotel was generally quiet, there was some late-night noise from some groups that I took to be tour groups.
All things considered it was a good stay, and I would consider again.

I have stayed at Link Hotel for 2 weeks and overall it has been a really great experience.
First of all the room is very clean and tidy, comes with tea-preparing facilities and all the necessary amenities that are expected at every hotel. The linen is fresh too.
However, I think the amenities such as wifi and air conditioner certainly need to be upgraded. I had a hard time connecting to the wifi in the room and got disconnected quite frequently. Majority of the staff are very attentive to my request, but certainly some need to be more professional when communicating with the customers.
I believe that this shouldn’t undermine the good part during the stay, I would like to thank(I think) Mr. Melvin or Mr. 瑞彩祥云for the prompt response to my request such as replenishment for coffee sticks all the time and I receive very efficient service after my request! He was also very polite too.
Besides. I would also like to thank Ms. Nana, she offered to bring me a fan while waiting for the aircond to resume operation and offered me a room change for cause apparently,it is going to take longer than expected.
I would also like to thank all the staff who is in charge of delivering food to the door every day and not forgetting to remind the guest by pressing the doorbell, the staff who escorted the guest to a various location, I think that they deserve the credit too!
It was a memorable stay indeed and thank you! Stay safe.

It is a great place to stay in SG as the rooms are cleaned everyday and with free coffee and condiments and room slippers. Appliances like electric water heater, hair dryer, and refrigerator are available in the room, which you can use when needed. Also, the hotel has a nearby hawker center, 7-Eleven store, mall, art gallery, and bus and train stations. I just wish they had different sets of breakfast menus for the guests.

The room was absolutely positively amazing. With almost all the necessities you could ever dream of! The bed was so soft and in Singapore’s hot weather, the cool temperature of the room was very comforting. The food places such as the Lin Bar and the nearby hawker centre had delicious food as well!

I am not quite sure where to start. But I guess being I was here on a business trip and being in singapore I would have thought internet would be a given but no. This hotel does not have a stable internet connection and when I enquired with reception I received a “no one else has reported a problem so I should keep trying” however I had a colleague staying in another room that had reported the very same issue. Rooms are clean enough but my chair in room is faulty and you can hear everything from neighbouring rooms with seemingly paper thin walls. Some lightbulbs were missing or faulty. No desk in room to work from I was offered to upgrade my room for 80sgt a night to have one but still without internet. I would not recommend this hotel and stay here if you want a disappointment. Won’t be returning as I know there are many other better hotels in Singapore for less than the princely sum asked for this 3star facility.

During a recent business visit to Link Hotel Singapore, my experience was notably disappointing. Upon arrival, the receptionist was markedly unfriendly and did not offer even a basic smile—a stark contrast to the welcoming atmosphere expected in such settings.
The lack of hospitality did not end there; throughout our visit, it was apparent that the staff lacked essential hospitality skills, which made our interaction both uncomfortable and inefficient. Moreover, the hotel’s lobby did not have a seating area, which significantly inconvenienced us as we had nowhere to sit while waiting for our appointments.
The condition of the hotel further detracted from our experience. It was run-down, emitted an unpleasant odor, and clearly suffered from low maintenance. Overall, the poor service and the hotel’s state reflected a lack of attention to guest and business visitor needs.
I hope the management will address these issues promptly to improve the experience for future visitors.

Dear Wasana, the nearest MRT is Outram Park (North-East / East West line) or Tiong Bahru (East West line).
From Outram Park MRT, you may walk 10 mins to Link Hotel.
From Tiong Bahru MRT, you may take bus 16, 33, 123, 195, 851. Alight after one bus stop and walk towards Link Hotel.
If you have a Singapore Airlines Stopover and choose this hotel, the transfer to the hotel and back to the airport is included.
If you are not on a Singapore Airlines Stopover, and If you don't have a lot of luggage, the cheapest would be to take the MRT from the airport to Outram Park MRT station, and walk about 800m.
Singapore has a Tourist Pass which offers unlimited travel for 1,2 or 3 days on the public transport system.
Put "Singapore Tourist Pass" in your browser for full details.
Full details are available on the Singapore Airlines web pages.
If your travel agent is any good, she'll already know all about Singapore Stopovers.
I would stay at the airport transfer hotel or do the free tours. We found the link hotel very small and it was not that quiet if you want to sleep. We did get free transfers though.
