Stayed here for 4 nights, last month. We, a couple, were traveling from India and this was our first visit to Singapore. Though, the hotel building looked starkly different from the online photos (on agoda, booking.com), everything else was as expected. Small rooms, no breakfast and kallang mrt station at walking distance (900m away).
Aida (the lady at reception), was kind enough to provide us with early check-in (11.30am). We reached at 10am and went out to grab breakfast while leaving the luggage at hotel (open luggage storage opposite reception). It felt safe; the crowd was a mix of families, couples and kids. The room was fairly clean (with daily room cleaning) and had thin walls (could overhear sounds at times) with a sealed glass window. It had the essential toiletries (even towels), indian electrical sockets (can use phone chargers directly) and open cloth hangers (no almirah). AC was essential provided Singapore’s weather and thankfully, it was working fine. The reception staff was straight forward and responsive.
Later, we came to know that the neighbourhood (geylang) is known to be a red light area, but, honestly we never felt anything unusual (unsafe). Overall, a budget friendly hotel located strategically.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel is clean, it is small but quite comfortable. It’s a perfect location for those attending concerts as the National Stadium is within walking distance, which we loved. I’d like to thank Nur for being so helpful and nice during our stay, thank you Nur! I’d come back to this hotel in future if i am going to attend a concert again.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel 81 Orchid! The room was always spotless thanks to the attentive housekeeping team, who ensured everything was perfect every time they made up the room. A special shoutout to Thura Lynn from the night shift for going above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable. His professionalism and warm demeanor truly made a difference. There’s an antagonist working as a Supervisor in this Hotel. Fabian Ng repugnance and obnoxious insolence is appalling! Any requests by guests is immediately rebutted with an emphatic NO! He doesn’t even try or at least show he’s trying to provide a service. His answers are always sarcastic and illogical. Makes no sense. For example, I ask for a corner room because it’s away from the other noisy rooms and for that; his shrill and condescending rebuttal was: “you cannot stop people from going in and out from their rooms”. He enjoys antagonising the hotel guests! Literally patronising us with his smug and passive aggression! He made it very personal with me by plunging me on the same floor and in the middle of the boisterous Vietnamese tour group. He refused to assist me in anyway and deliberately told me there’s no noises coming from the Vietnamese group only when they have left for dinner! He always carries around the smug attitude and he defies me to write a negative review about him. Fabian Ng seriously has no blinking idea what the hospitality business is all about and is definitely a Liability to any hospitality industry that hires him. He clearly has issues and going back to the drawing board of the hospitality industry is not going to help him; because he has no idea nor interests to what services from the heart is all about!

Friendly/Helpful/Precise & very Professional these staff , Darren, Zai & Leon are all you ever need with your hotel needs. Checked us out in no time plus told us which food centre to go. Had the opportunity to store our luggages after checkout, and went around the places we wanted to go with a piece of mind that our luggages are being looked after. Kudos to these hard working staff.

Even though the room was small it was neat and tidy. The staff were extremely helpful and assisted me with a smile to organise transfers, taxis, Grab Rides, food and any other request for assistance. They made me feel very included and were really lovely and helpful! Excellent service!!!

This hotel deserves 5/5. I stayed here twice and no problems at all with everything. Strong water in the shower helps after long flight from Australia. Staff are great, especially Darren Leon who was really helpful showing me around the areas. Will come back here soon… Cheers.

I was pleasantly surprised at how clean, well organized and friendly the hotel was. The room was big enough for a solo traveler. Don't expect too much, because hotels in Singapore are more expensive than in most South Asian countries. I didn't see much of the "red light district." However, the lively area has interesting shopping opportunities and very good and inexpensive restaurants. The MRT is within easy walking distance, so you can get to all the tourist hotspots quickly. I would come back.

As the hotel doesn't have a minibar or room service, there is no requirement to use a credit card. If the booking has already been paid for prior to check-in your son will not need to present a credit card.
He will need to have identification though - his passport if not a Singapore national.
