We chose the hotel because of the restaurant which offered wine pairing. Halfway through dinner we discovered that our wine glasses were smaller than the neighboring table!!! Also, if you take the 3-wine pairing, you pay more (and with a smaller serving) than if you order a la carte! What a rip off!!!

Hotel's Favourite
It is rare to come away with the impression of possibly bumping into Sinatra, while strolling through the corridors of a hotel. And “Deeply touched” is not a description lightly applied to any hotel, especially when one has travelled to multiple states or prefectures within more than 10 countries before the age of 40, and somewhat jaded at times with hotels. In this time of Covid-19, when I needed several days rest from work due to exhaustion but also required an option enabling me to concentrate on a personal goal (desk and bed must be in separate rooms): Capitol Kempinski is a hotel I can definitely see myself in again, once a few changes have been implemented. When I got out of the taxi, I had several seconds of trepidation because there was nobody I could see to help with my suitcase, and I wondered if I was at the correct building. Turns out the staff have a nice discreet waiting corner, so they can spot guests arriving in vehicles. Cassandra (one of the ladies in red) was enthusiastic, patient and friendly with my check-in queries, and she walked me to my room. Interior design of the hotel is definitely one for the ages, which will endure timelessly as snazzily hip yet respectful for the history of its location. Treading on lush carpeting through the corridors towards my room is a wonderfully quiet yet enjoyable experience. I could easily imagine jazz legends comfortably taking their time to meander in the corridors. Combination of colours for carpets and patterned woods is stylishly uplifting, classy, and confident. The special selection of pillows in the pillow menu beyond what is provided for the 45 square-metres Heritage room is enticing. Provided pillows are flexibly snug and great to hug. Wireless charger for the phone, strong Wi-fi, bottles of water discreetly arranged yet within easy reach, and the wardrobe for hanging clothes is great! I strongly value privacy, which is why I chose the street view over any room with views of the Arcade. TV not positioned directly in front of the foot of the bed, mirrors not positioned directly in front of the foot of the bed- Excellent. No TV in the bathroom, only mirrors – Lovely. No objection to mirrors positioned against the wall, above the bed’s headboard. This room utilises space very well, despite being only 45 square metres. Tradition melds with modernisation to create a sexy yet soothing space of respite, regardless of whether one wants to shower, work or rest. The interior design team for this hotel should be lauded. The bathroom is divided into 3 areas, all flowing nicely into each other. Duravit toilet stool with many different functions for the toilet bowl is much appreciated in a restful meditative space, especially the heated toilet bowl seat, which reminds me of Japan. 3 different shower heads for the bathing area, with a solid bench to sit on. The types of shower heads, controls for water flow and temperature, and layout? Great for older folks or kids. Veryveryvery considerate. And the toiletries! Toothbrush too hard for me, but the rest of the amenities are good. Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries are a winner, especially shampoo and shower gel and body lotion. They look good, smell good, and are actually effective. I sadly did not have enough time to use the bathtub, because I was so tired for the first 2 days that I did not trust myself to use the bathtub properly. Only used the bathtub once. Soaking to loosen up and feel pampered was wonderful. And. That. Desk. Sexy workhorse. Helps inspire one to concentrate and get things done. Expansive, powerfully solid and elegant, fusing modernity and tradition- Except for the compartment discreetly housing the hairdryer and mirror, enabling the attractive desk to double up as a dressing table where applicable. The desk is housed in a zen-like minimalist space of high ceilings, with bar amenities enclosed in the same darkly glamorous exterior designs for the wardrobe. Non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary, such as passionfruit juices. TWG teas. I did not try the coffee. The traffic is a pleasant muted hum if any, when seated at the desk. And when the doors connecting the bedroom to the study area are closed, the bedroom is very quiet. Ordered room service 3 times, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Wine selections for in-room dining is excellent allowing me to accurately pair my food choices. Laksa and soy curd are stellar options. May want to try the steak or options for Indian cuisine, next time. I definitely would like to see some changes to the breakfast menu & in-room dining menu, an issue which plagues too many hotels in Singapore. The in-room dining menu should offer a compact yet sufficiently diverse curation of what Capitol Kempinski’s stable of eateries can do. Shakshuka added to in-room dining options would be wonderful (this dish can be eaten for lunch or dinner or breakfast), and it is possible to offer 2 types of shakshuka when it comes to options, plus the hotel can put their own innovative spin on this dish. Singaporean shakshuka would be interesting and most likely delicious, given the quality of food at the hotel’s 15 Stanford by Alvin. I’m sadly not able to access Israeli-type breakfasts in any hotel here any time soon, but Capitol Kempinski provides tasty muesli and granola options. Despite being barely 3 years young, what stands out to me about this hotel (unlike many other hotels I have tried, local or international) is strong cohesion and enthusiasm of different staff across different fields, which tells me higher management across at least 2 different fields at this hotel are thorough and exhibit humbly-inspiring leadership which is being emulated by the staff, and in turn shared with guests. It is most obvious in the breakfast period within the main restaurant, when watching different servers professionally attend to diners. A young chap who wears spectacles is really inspiring to watch, given how he engages adults and children. I may have been solo but I did not feel discriminated against as a solo guest, and was given a nice large corner table with plush curvy ocean-blue banquette seating allowing me to observe everything without being obtrusive. People-watching: So fun. “Sue” for guest services over the phone is exemplary. Kathleen, who gave me a wonderfully restful experience with the Empress Facial at the spa to float back to my room, is a gem. There was another lady in red, whose name I did not catch, who cheerfully lent me a pair of scissors. Towards the end of my stay, I encountered an incident which inspired me to give feedback to the hotel. Duty manager Khai was discreet and on-the-ball, and I appreciate our interaction. Upon checking out, I also met the concierge manager Roszel Marop. I could instantly understand why he is responsible for the front of the house and why Capitol Kempinski is admirably focused on service, and why so many young staff have such a positively admirable attitude toward guests of all ages. This gentleman would not be out of place as a Royal Butler to the Queen in Buckingham Palace, if given the opportunity. Warm, discreet, honest, and gracefully humble, truly deserving of his position as President of Les Clefs d’Or. A national treasure of Singapore, whom I am privileged to meet. I was absolutely exhausted, when checking in. I checked out, feeling beatific. I did not have high expectations for Capitol Kempinski, due to my horrible experience at another hotel nearby City Hall in October 2020. I am very happy to be surprised and impressed by Roszel Marop’s team. I had simply chosen the wrong hotel on Singapore’s mainland in 2020 when looking for service and leadership, which can only be delivered by management and individuals forming a balanced team who understand and exemplify the best values of butlers (along the lines of the British Butler Institute in London’s Castlewood House), while instilling their own unique brand of enthusiasm and allowing individual personalities to shine. Capitol Kempinski is an exciting hotel to discover! If I could choose Singapore’s Heritage Hotels (one in the city and one away from the city), one of them is on Sentosa which I am privileged to call “Home” in my heart, and the other just might be this delightfully new institution. Munching addictively scrumptious homemade dark chocolate sea salt cookies from Bertholds Delicatessen while writing this, I am glad for this experience to recharge my November, because 2022 beckons! I also need to get these cookies as presents for friends. Unfortunately neither of the 2 Bidwell suites at the Capitol Kempinski were available for this stay, because I booked my 3-night holiday through the hotel website in a last-minute manner. And with my written suggestions to hopefully iron out a few minor kinks, I am eager to see the team at Capitol Kempinski achieve heights capable of eventually being comfortable in accommodating a Maharaja or other similar entities in future, which the Heritage Suite of Capitol Kempinski probably has not yet entertained. One never knows what guests may turn up. Best to be well-prepared for such a guest, just in case. My heartfelt thanks to the Capitol Kempinski team, to best usher out 2021 and welcome a new 2022!

Booked a deluxe room under the Lady in Red 12th Anniversary promotion. I was accorded an three tier upgrade to a terrace room upon check-in. Everything in the room exceeded my expectations, the private terrace space, the spacious free-standing bathtub, and the unique seat in the shower. The breakfast at 15 Stamford was outstanding, with an impressive spread and everything i tried tasted delicious. I would also like to give special thanks to Risse and Cassandra, the Lady in Red who helped me with my check-in and check-out, and addressed most of my queries and concerns relating to the stay. They helped to turn my stay from a remarkable stay into a memorable one. I look forward to coming back to Capitol Kempinski soon!

Service was sincere and attentive. This is particularly remarkable, given the current labour shortage, and many demanding requirements from the authority due to the pandemic. Room was impeccably clean and comfortable. We had one of our best rests in recent memory. Cliche as it sounds; but the only complaint we have, is that the stay is way too short. looking forward to our next stay! You are doing a marvelous job. Keep up the great work!

I recently having frequent staycations in Singapore, but I did not bother to write review until I stay at Capitol Kempinski hotel. It all starts during check-in, the reception lady, Ms. Risse, was able to identify that I am a GHA platinum member, which I did not even realize. With that level, she immediately applies the perks to my booking. She was not only professional, but also warmly welcoming, and explained well about hotel facilities and how to get around. The extra mile did not go unnoticed. (Both ParkRoyal Collection Marina Bay and Pickering hotels did not notice I was GHA member, I stayed with them a couple of weeks back). Perhaps it is because I book via OTA. Room = FANTABULOUS. could not ask for better room. The bathroom so spacious!!! One of the most comfortable hotel beds Gym = very small. Pool = max 8 person. it is small, but I find it acceptable, since I had nice bath tub. Lower your expectation on these facilities. Breakfast. I have mix review here. I love the eggs benedict and fresh fruit juices. However, some other reviews recommended Nasi Lemak and Fish Porridge. While the porridge was okay (a bit bland to my liking), the Nasi Lemak.. perhaps it happens I get an over-fried chicken. the chicken skin was dark and hard, difficult to eat. but the portion was right. To summarize, its the service that is outstanding and making me wanting to return. Location wise, perfect.
