We have been coming to Fridays Boracay for many years. We like the ethnic-Filipino look of the resort , the location and their hospitality. The GM Arlene did everything to meet our expectations. We were super well treated and enjoy very much our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The privacy, the beach, the atmosphere this is the real Boracay that we love. Intimate and Filipino

We stayed at Fridays Boracay in August, 2004 and discovered that the best time to go to Boracay is during low season. There are very few tourists (both foreign and Filipinos) because it is the rainy season. So, you get the best treatment. You also get very good deals. The trick is not to plan it until a few days before so that you can be sure what the weather will be like over the next 3 or 4 days. Since it is low season, you'll always find a good airfare and accommodation deal. Consider this, for 3D/2N for 4 people, it only cost us $348.19 in a Premium room.

The Premium room is decorated in native Filipino which I love. Each room has a verandah with a hammock. The floor is nice hardwood and the bathroom is simple and clean. I also like the native mats which covered the walls. I stay every week in big-chain hotels all over the world (such as the Marriott chain, Starwood chain, etc) and the amenities at Fridays Boracay for the Premium rooms are comparable to the big-name hotel chains' Concierge and Executive level rooms that I'm used to staying. That is, slippers, bathrobes, homemade chocolate truffles at night, turn-down service, fruits, etc. The entire resort is covered with the talcum-powder white sand and at each doorstep, there is a vat full of cool water to clean your sand-covered feet. The staff is very courteous and helpful. And the food at the restaurant is great. I especially love the "tapa" - so good!

Fridays is located at the northernmost tip of the famous White Beach. The very well publicized talcum-powder (really - almost like very fine rice-flour) white-sand of Boracay starts from Fridays Resort and continues down southward on to 5 other resorts - Seawind, Pearl of the Pacific, Waling-Waling and Cocamongas. After these chain of resorts, the sand becomes coarser and the beach is more littered with shells. Also, the beach southward is busier because it is closer to the commercial/business areas of Boracay. Although during low season (June to Nov), the western side, which is where entire stretch of White Beach is, is a bit choppy due to the "Habagat" (Western) winds (during high peak - Nov to May, the west side is the quiet side because the winds are coming from the East), it is easy enough to hike off or take a tricycle ride to the "backside" (East) where the water is calmer. But even with the "Habagat" winds, the water is still warm and the waves quite mild - compared to the waves in Maui or the Carribbean.

I definitely would recommend this resort for the SAND, ambience, staff friendliness, price, food, drinks, the crystal clear water right in front of the resort and the beachfront!

I am visting Boracay since 1996 and I enjoyed the island each time.
This time we stayed at Friday's (for the first time) for 2 nights in a Premium and 1 night in a Deluxe Room. We can honestly not understand how they can charge such high rates for such standards!
If you have been in Thailand this kind of standard you get for a high end backpacking place (around 40$/night but not at 150$-200$ per night!).
The rooms are big, but not very clean, you can hear the neighbours (and the TV), the bed sheets smell, the mosquito net has holes, the toilet and shower is so small, that when hanging a towel it is directly above the toilet (see pictures). We could not even close the windows properly, so mosquitos and other crawling things just kept coming in. The place is just not maintained and they just keep milking the tourists. For 40$ a night I would stay, but not one penny more. You're better off at another place.
It might look nice from the outside, but ....
The food is also overpriced, you can get the same quality and food nearly for the half price in other places.
The staff is very friendly and honest (that is true for nearly all Philippinos), except for the reception staff, which lied to us about the noise and availability.

Also, currently (and I suspect for another year) there is a construction site just besides Friday, so when you are staying at Friday's during the day at "their" beach you MUST love the grinding and hammering of metal, because that what you will hear. And get up at 8am, then when it starts...

Regarding the beach:
Boracay has a great beach and you can enjoy it and have a great time there. However, remember that you have no coconuts or any trees where you can stay in the shade. All shade provided (and this is especially true from Friday's to boastation 1) is private, it belongs to a resort and you have to pay to stay there one way or another. Most resorts have cut most coconuts trees and replaced it with some sort of beach umbrellas or cabanas (petty).
The beach however is public and everybody can enjoy it no matter where you stay (but it will get hot). Between boatstation 1 and 3 there is still a thin strip of coconuts left(around 10-15m), of course taken over by restaurants and resorts, but if you order a drink you can stay there the whole day enjoying the beach and the shade (without paying Friday's ripoff rates).

I was interested to read the very poor review of Fridays and particular about the route into town. Having stayed there 3 years in a row for New Year and about to return this year, I have never taken that route into town as you simply walk along the beach front until you reach all the restuarants and bars and it is perfectly safe.

Back to the resort, yes I agree the rooms are not the equivalent of 4 start hotels elsewhere but they are clean and comfortable enough for a beach resort. What makes Fridays special is the service and the welcome from the local Philippino staff. Jo Jo will keep you plied with water on the best sunbeds on white beach and ensure you have clean towels whenever you need them. Bong and Rex will mix the best cocktails on the island and the bar is buzzing at happy hour. There are many excellent restaurants on the island, however Fridays can boast one of the best. If you do happen to be there for New Year then they have the best party on the island with a gourmet dinner, dancing to live bank and fabulous fireworks display on the beach. Coming from Scotland the home of Hogmany (New Year) , I can honestly say the people of boracay do it better.

So dont come and expect luxury accomodation, but if you want to experience some local hospitality try Fridays. Added bonus is the range of restaurants and bars on the island at very reasonable prices.

Friday's hasn't met our expectations. First of all, the hotel is supposed to be 4 star level. I would like to know how this rating was achieved. The bathroom has cracks in the walls and the shower curtain is mouldy. The state of the room is unsatisfactory. However, the biggest problem is leaving the hotel at night. To access the main road to go into the centre, you must walk through a dark, vacant lot. Not at all safe, due to the uneven ground and lack of light. In order to access the main road, we had to walk to Waling Waling Resort, which had direct access to main road.
Another thing, I don't recommend visiting Boracay in October/November due to the Typhoon.

In a recent trip to Boracay, myself and my family trialed 3 hotels - Fridays, Seawind and Waling Waling. All 3 are located on the best part of Boracay's famous white beach (boat station 1). After strolling down white beach and looking at other hotels such as the Regency and Seraph we were glad we made the choices we did. If you go to Boracay we strongly suggest picking a hotel as far up the North end as possible - it is much nicer there and you get less hassle from vendors knocking off their dodgy goods. If you want the nightlife in the evenings, the main bars are only a 10 minute walk along the beach which is a nice walk anyway. Our top recommendations would be Fridays followed by Waling Waling. Fridays is located at the end of White Beach and comes with one of the better restaurants. Waling Waling however has excellent cabinas which are great for downing a few bottles of wine while having a meal and watching the sunset in the evening. Seawind was the last hotel we visited and to be honest was a great disappointment compared to the other 2 mentioned above.

Yes, it is costlier than most hotels in the island, but you do get the basic hotel amenities with airconditioning, cable tv, room service and a swimming pool. While a bit secluded, this exclusivity provided peace and security compared to the hotels around boat station 1 and 2, but is near enough to reach that area if you'd like.

I have stayed here a few times in the last 3 years. It is more up to international standards than waling-waling, which we tried once and decided to go back to friday's. I have 2 small kids and they enjoy the large, clean beach front. I do not have to worry about them bumping into anything, or me being bothered by hawkers.

There are a couple of higher-end accomodations in the island, but doubt if these provide the value same or as good a location.

I would have given excellent were it not for the rooms needing renovation. However, the renovation is ongoing! This is great news! The staff/service are wonderful; it is on THE BEST part of White Beach--the widest, whitest, and finest (in terms of grain); and the food is very good. For accommodations at this level, it is more private than most of the other places on White Beach, and is much more convenient than staying one cove over (at Nami)--a short 10-minute stroll ALONG the beach (much better than the back road, I never would consider going this route) will get you to the more social part (restaurants, cafes, bars, shops) of the beach.

Words can not describe how wonderful this place was. My boyfriend and I loved it! The restaurant is one of the best on the island. The rooms were amazingly authentic and I loved the fresh fruit we were greeted by and the welcome drinks with necklance ON the beach as we got off the boat. Everyone was always very friendly and ready to offer the best of service. This resort isn't so busy beachfront because you are located a little farther from where all of the action is. However it is well worth the walk on the beach to get to these places. Fridays is also located very near the golf course. How amazing it was for me to learn play golf for the first time and have an ocean view with it! It made me feel a lot better looking at the ocean when it took 10 strokes for me to hit the dumb ball in!

While youre at fridays I recommend a few things:

1.Get a massage: they are so cheap and so well worth the relaxation after your "long, hard day" on the beach

2. Go horse back ridding: Horses can be a little jumpy when traveling on the road but still very kind for the most part. Wear pants not matter how hot! I wore shorts and it was closer to the evening and I have bug bites all over my legs. It was horrible but my own fault. The view from the top of the mountain they take you up is beyond description!

3.Play at least a round of golf: I'm not a big fan either but the golf course it's self is amazing especially the back part. While we were there it rained for about 30 mins. All these little frogs were out all over the place after. They were so cute!

4. Go to pier 1 or cocamongas or both and dance the night away: No matter how old you still have the right to have fun. Its a great time to get up with the locals and get your groove on. I am 21 and I loved pier one. I didn't get to go to cocamongas =( ....Guess that means I have to go again!

5. Splurge and get the best meal ever at fridays restaurant! The food speaks for itself!

And lastly, walk out into the water until you can't see the bottom....you will be walking forever! ;)

Can anyone reccomend the best way to get to the hotel from Kalibo airport.
Answer from Fridays Boracay
Boracay, Philippines1 contribution
Hi Jane D, If flight is coming from Kalibo Airport, please be advised that guests arriving at the Kalibo airport will have to take an approx. 2-hour drive by bus or van going to Caticlan Jetty Port. From the port, you will have to take a boat ride to Boracay Island which is approximately 20 minutes and once your reach the port in Boracay Island, you have to take a van/tricycle/e-trikes going to Fridays Resort which is approximately 30-minute drive. For your kind information, there is an Environmental Fee of Php 75.00 per person and Terminal Fee of Php 100.00 per person per way which will be collected from the tourists who will be coming to Boracay as imposed by the City Governance of Malay, Aklan. Kindly contact our Reservations Officer should you wish us to arrange for your transfers. Thank you.
