My wife and I stayed at El Galleon and did a 4 day open water dive course which I would thoroughly recommend for beginners. El Galleon is one of the best locations and resorts in subang. Great food great staff and great location. I would thoroughly recommend El Galleon if you are looking to stay in Sabang any time. Thanks again for Elly for being a great instructor.

Had a great time with the crew at El Galleon. Really friendly staff in the resort and the Dive Crew were great. Verde Island was a top dive spot...from 20 metres and up...unbeatable. The food was good (local and more American/Asian), plentiful and good value. The Barrel Bar is a good spot to hang out as well. Happy to go back here!

Excellent choice for rooms and diving! Resort staff are professional and make you feel welcome. Dive staff are top shelf, crews and divemasters experienced, knowledgable, and fun! Big plus: El Galleon has it's own dock for boat boarding and storage of dive gear. It's the only spot on Sabang with this facility and it's super!

Thanks so much Tom. We really appreciate this and very happy you enjoyed your stay with us. We're very lucky to have our own private pier and it does make it very comfortable for our guests to use it for diving.

I have stayed here many times and keep coming back as do many of their guests. I kid you not that every staff member will call you by name and will remember you no matter how long you stay away. A lot of interesting characters about so there never seems to be a dull moment. You can relax in the restaurant when not diving and in the evenings at the point bar or on the water at the barrel. The point bar and now the barrel are great for sunsets and tipping back a few cold ones. Both are popular with local expats and guests from other resorts so El Galleon guests do not have to venture very far. There are many diving operations along the beach but none with setup they have. The spacious dive locker room and platform make diving here more comfortable and pleasurable. A very friendly and professional diving crew from the instructors to the boatmen and tankboys. About the food, I stayed for almost 10 days this time and the food was great throughout. I did not have everything on the menu but I tried something different each time and was not disappointed ever. The quality and value of food here is hard to beat but I do recommend venturing out to try food elsewhere as it is nice to get a change of scenery. Just ask any of the staff or you fellow divers and I sure they will give you some advice.

We bought a summer discount package for 2 people via PADI Travel at El Galleon end July/early August for 6 nights, inc. breakfasts, 10 dives each with all dive equipment, including dive computers. Had an amazing time and are planning to return. Off-season may not be everyone's favourite time but we thought it was excellent: The hotel and restaurant were quiet, service was superb (food very good too - baby clams pasta and mango juice were irresistible...) - thanks to the chef and friendly waiting staff; and the diving groups were small and personalised. Weather held up well too! Thanks to all at Asia Divers for excellent dives. Pete gave us our refresher in the hotel pool (we were v rusty AOW divers...) and a first dive (Sabang Bay) - he was a terrific dive guide - just the right mix of professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Thanks for everything, Pete! Thanks too to Ellie and Maria for some very memorable dives (at least 2 in the company of world experts on nudibranchs). We'd recommend our room - a Sea View one - 77 steps to reach it - totally worth the climb for that view of Sabang bay - and kept us fit. Our room (17) was functional and spacious - we really liked the balcony (needed repellent for the mosquitoes though...). El Galleon is a fab location for divers - Asia Divers is excellent (PADI 5 Star) and a 2 min walk along the front from El Galleon's restaurant (also on the front - it's wonderful for people-watching as well as for sea views with a welcome breeze). Just far enough from town to be away from the nightclub noise, but close enough for a 5-10 minute stroll along the front to local restaurants and grocery stores. We were glad to have included breakfasts in our package but not lunches or dinners, as we enjoyed a number of local eateries during our week. We also booked El Galleon's private transfers to and from Manila airport - not cheap but for a 2 hour drive plus 1 hour boat ride they seemed reasonable value for money and we would probably book again. Finally it's worth saying that Puerto Galera as a diving location is simply fantastic for corals, macro (those nudibranchs are exquisite...) and drift dives. We had wonderfully varied dive sites - all within a 15 minute speedboat ride from El Galleon (and a couple are only 3 mins away).

Hi Sarah, We're very happy that you had such a great time with us. We always try our best to please everyone from all areas of the resort. Sometimes folks think that July and August can be bad weather, but to be honest it can be some of the most amazing weather of the year and no crowds around so you get lots of personal attention. It's also good to hear that this was a successful booking though PADI Travel and we look forward to having more of their guests here. Thanks so much for writitng this review and I'll be sure to let the Pete, Maria and Elly guides know how much you appreciated them.
