Located at TST, hotel is in a good position close to subway. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Rooms are quite small ( normal in HK) and a bit noisy due to old AC system and nearby road. Cleaning can be improved such as amenities quantity ( just 1 set of shampoo and shower soap for 2 persons, not renewed after the first night). Wifi is working fine.

Compact hotel with a little more space if compares to average in Hong Kong. Basic amenities provided. Daily housekeeping here.
Luggage deposit is fine.

The location is really good! so many restaurants and shops around. K11 just in a minutes. TST and East TST subway station in walking distance, few mins actually. Main attractions amd malls are in walking distance such as HKMOA, avenue of stars, K11musea, and etc.

Overall is good and worth for the pay. Good choice for kowloon TST area.

Let me start this review by telling you what are my expectations of good hotel: Safe, clean bathroom, & clean and comfortable bed. Anything else is welcomed but not essential for me. This hotel meets my criteria and exceeds it in some aspects but also falls behind in a little of things. Let's start with the location; From the MTR station TST it is as close as it gets for the low price range, if you take the K11 mall exit you only have to cross the street and hotel is just around the corner. This is a plus in my book, and also the street where the hotel is is almost full of bars/restaurants which comes very handy if you are in fact looking to have a drink or two and then stumble back to your room. Now this is a double edge sword, because with all these bars comes noise at night and if you are a light sleeper, then ask for a higher floor room or a quiet facing the back of the hotel (a little research goes A LONG WAY) My complaint with noise was in the early morning when the bars get rid of hundreds of beer bottles you can hear the noise for several minutes in what I assume is a recycling truck, very disturbing if you plan to sleep in for the morning. Now a positive point is the free in room internet, very rare in Hong Kong and came in very handy, totally makes up for the morning noise (I had to wake up for work anyways) and if you bring a travel Wifi router you will have yourself a personal office in the middle of Tsim Sha Tsui! another minor annoyance is the lack of complementary water, they have 2 bottles inside your room but they charge 60HKD for each, most hotels will gladly provide you with a small bottle or two of generic water. Again, no big deal as there is a 7 Eleven just down the street. They will provide power adapters free of charge at check in which is also very nice of them as well as an Ethernet cable for your laptop connection (hardwired) and another quick tip if you need to iron your clothes ask for an ironing board in advance as they will provide it to you free of charge, but upon request. Some people may find the beds to be in the stiff side, I did not have a problem with it but please do yourself a favor and not dive into the bed you will thank me for this tip. Other in room amenities, are in room safe (big enough to fit a laptop and a SLR camera) TV (non flat screen) with cable and in room AC/HEATER system. There is a mini fridge with room to spare for your own drinks but I did not use it. Personnel are very attentive and nice, I have no complaints at all, my check in was really fast as well as checking out which is at noon, also very helpful.

3)我讚下大堂果位保安(應該係),he’s polite and welling to help the guest. Great.

差評:1) Front desk check in staff not polite and he’s not willing to help me. I remarked early check in around 11:00am, actually i arrived hotel around 12:30pm, I understood that will subject to availability and due to floor closure issues caused I have to wait the room, but why i told him to call rush room, he seem don’t understand. And when I called to request 2 more bed sheets, he replied me “Miss, you just check in.” What the ridiculous response? Please DOM or FOM please provide well training to your staff. Low OCC but bad services.

2) Room cleaning is awful, carpet stain, water mark and stains on mirror and bathroom glass door, so dusty in the room, if your hotel housekeeping is contract out then it make sense why the room cleaning is not up to standard.

I reside in HK and a friend from the US who wished to visit HK for a period of 14 nights, asked my recommendations for a decently priced room at a decent area, given that he was staying for an extended period.

Looked at a few options and did a bit of research here at Tripadvisor, in addition to my own knowledge.

Shortlisted this property and went for a site visit, intending to have a look at a run of the house room.

Was told by management that it wasn't possible. No explanations given, just a simple "against hotel policy".

Needless to say, this adversely affected my opinion/recommendation of the property.

Why would management refuse such a request? Was I being unreasonable? What is the management afraid of to show?

Booked 2 superior twin rooms. The rooms are clean and simple design. Toilet is a bit bare.

It is in a good location and easily accessed to all the shopping area around TST.

However, the front desk staff at night is horribly rude and useless (there is only 1 desk). Will never stay here again.

Checked in on 14th April. Room smells like the air conditioning has not been serviced for years. Room is dusty. Shower head can't be held in place during shower. Can't watch any TV programs because apparently there is some issue with the antenna. We gave our feedback to the hotel staff on the day of check in, they said will fix it the next day. Come Sunday, they said no one is working and hope that it would be resolved on Monday (today), yet it is still not resolved. Asked when it will be fixed, now they said they have no idea. Front desk staff even told me, free-to-air is not available but paid per view is fine...so is that the reason why the antenna is down??So that guests would have no choice but to pay to watch TV? First and last stay. Never coming back again.

This was my 2nd visit at the hotel - from the previous year - and as much as the location is ideal; near MTR, train, ferry as well as having many taxi's available, the horrible service - or rather "no service" will stop me from returning to The Minden.

It is a indeed a very cute boutique styled 3 star hotel and could be great... if not for the "robot-like" front desk staff... where a smile is too much and even any additional information seems to be too much.

However what totally spoiled our 3 nights stay was our last night at The Minden, where we were rudely awoken by some trying to open our room door at 3:45am - luckily we placed the ledge on, but still couldn't get back to sleep.... and had requested a 5:30am wake up call the same morning due to our early flight... and we never received the call!!!

Luckily we sat our own alarm, as we would have surely missed our flight. Having brought these problems/incidents to the managements attention, would have expected a clear response + apology, but the only correspondence received back was a "generic answer"...

These experiences have left a very sour taste and unfortunately would not return + neither recommend this hotel... there are much better places around in HK!

We had a wonderful stay at the Xi Hotel. It is conveniently located near Nathan Road. A surprise was the included breakfast, which was described as “continental”, but which turned out to be far better. Hard boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, juice, lovely pastries (sweet and savoury), fresh fruit and yoghurt was included. The rooms have been recently updated and were very comfortable. Lovely bathroom. By far the best thing was the wonderful staff. Big call out to Man who (unasked) helped with our luggage. Mandy on the front desk was the most affable and helpful hotel employee I have come across. She couldn’t do enough to help us and had a great sense of humour. I hope Xi Hotel appreciates what a gem of an employee they have in Mandy. Highly recommended.

First, very important. How to get there.
1. Take the Airport Express train to Kowloon Station. Sit on the left side if you want a good view along the ride.
2. When you reach Kowloon Station, take the elevator up to the next level. Look for Shuttle Bus K3. There were some bus personnel to guide us when we were there. (The buses are numbered according the different route.) For Xi Hotel, take K3 to Holiday Inn Golden Mile. It's the first stop.
3. Coming out of Holiday Inn, turn right. Then right again at the first corner. Go across and turn left into Minden Avenue. (Check Google Maps Street View at home. That's what I did and so the street was familiar to me even before I stepped into HK).
4. Take note that when you go back, the K3 bus will stop at 6 other hotels before going to Kowloon Station. So set aside time for that.

Ok. I'll admit my impression of the hotel was not that good. They had no reception counter. All they had was a table!! This is a first for me. If they have a table for reception, what more for the room?

ROOM. Actually, the room was very good in terms of size and cost. It was big enough compared to the small one I stayed previously where there was hardly any room to move when the luggage is in. Toilet was nice. Really the room's value for the money you pay. But the air con we had looked like it was in need of rest - it was quite old. But it worked ok.

BREAKFAST. Although it was just bread, pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruits and beverages, it was good enough for me. My wife and I enjoyed their breakfast even though it was the same each day. Oh - there's hard boiled egg everyday. And the staff was very particular about arranging the food nicely every now and then.

FREE USE OF HANDPHONE. Now this is what stands Xi Hotel out of the others. There's a free smart phone for your use. Free WiFi and 3G. So you're connected throughout your stay. And free calls to certain countries. I'm from SG - tried out the free call and it worked. You just have to wait a while. The phone connects to another line before connecting to the number you dialed.

WIFI. The wifi was good and worked well at the 12th floor where we stayed, the 5th for breakfast and the lobby.

LOCATION. As many have pointed out, the location of Xi Hotel is indeed very good. It's right smack in the middle of town. It links conveniently to two stations. You just have to walk around to realise it's really a great location.

So I'll end off by thanking the staff of Xi Hotel. They were courteous and helpful and that made our stay more pleasant. They gave us a room on the 12th floor. The noise from the road works was minimal. And I must say that Xi Hotel has standard - they had a notice on their website that there were road works around the hotel. So you could choose whether to book their hotel or not.

All in all, I would highly recommend Xi Hotel and I will stay there again should I visit HK next.

It's a very short walk from the Holiday Inn... Walk up Mody Road, turn right at the first corner then turn left on the next street and you'll see a smallish sign after about a minute of walking.

The Holiday Inn Golden Mile is only a 4-5 min walk to the hotel. This is where the K3 Airport Express Shuttle Service makes its first stop. The N1 MTR entrance is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Simply turn left when you exit, turn left again at the end of Minden Ave, cross Mody Road and you're there.
