This is a basic and functional hotel in good location with Jordan metro station nearby. Quite a choice of shops and restaurants. The cleanliness of room inside is acceptable with all things required. Not cramped. No views. Staff just ok. Price is great and so no complaints at all.

I booked a Superior (double) room which was relatively spacious (for a HK hotel) and clean. I was actually quite impressed by the fluency in English and friendliness of the reception staff who helped me check in (and check out).
Pros:
Modern furnishings. Relatively spacious enough. Comfortable bed. Carpeted flooring. Clean. Complimentary mineral water (2 bottles per day). Usual amenities - in room safe, TV, mini-fridge, work desk. Adjustable air-con.
Breakfast provided (by an unaffiliated restaurant in same hotel building). When I was there, the menu consisted of 5 simple breakfast sets to choose from, ranging from American styled breakfast (sausage and eggs etc.) to HK styled (noodles and macaroni with different meats). A simple side buffet spread of breads, ham, fried rice / noodles, coffee, tea and juice was also provided.
Walking distance (~3 min) to Jordan MTR Exit B1.
If you are taking Bus A21 from the airport, get off at the "Nathan Hotel" bus stop, which is just few steps away from the side road (Saigon Street) that leads to Hotel Rainbow.
For the A21 return bus ride back to airport, either cross the traffic light near Jordan MTR, or if you can manage the weight of your luggage, use the underpass at Saigon Street that leads to the opposite side - the A21 bus stop towards the airport is very near the underpass.
Cons:
Limited toiletries (if this is important for you) - shower caps, toothbrushes and shower foam only.
"Wardrobe" space may be quite limited for 2 people - 2 designated (open) areas with 4 hangars near door (see photo).
While shower water pressure is nice and strong, the toilet flushing pressure can be improved - will need to hold the flush down for a while (but this issue could just be for my room).
Overall speaking, I really wouldn't mind staying at this hotel again.
For those interested in getting some HK pastries:
Wing Wah shop along Nathan Road located diagonally opposite Mongkok Station Exit C1.
Hang Heung shop at 579 Nathan Road: come out from Yau Ma Tei Exit A1 and walk towards Mongkok direction.

Formally the Rainbow Hotel it is located in Saigon street opposite the Novotel entrance. From the airport we caught the airport bus A21. Get off a stop 10 which is Cnr of Saigon Rd and Nathan Road. With luggage it's about a 1 min walk only. Other apt transfer bus companies did not list it as a stop but listed the the Novotel but it wasn't till we got there that we realised they actually parked in front of the Travelodge to drop off the Novotel guests. It was only about HKD 33 to get the A21 bus so a lot cheaper.
Check in was easy and staff spoke English. The standard rooms are quite small. Bathroom looked recently renovated with walk in shower but the beds were very hard by Western standards. The small safe in the room was not even bolted down and could easily be just lifted up and carried out. Due to air conditioner problems in the first room our room was changed with a supposed upgrade. Although the room was only marginally larger the facilities were still the same. Safe still not bolted down. Only 2 tea bags supplied. One green tea and one black. No milk, sugar or spoon was supplied. Jug is supplied. There is a mini bar in the room a a 7-11 is just 2 doors down for supplies. The restaurant is not owned by the hotel and is accessed from the lift into a filthy hallway before you go into the understaffed restaurant. A limited set menu for breakfast with 5 hot options. Cereal is also available along with toast. The restaurant is also available for dinner and has a far better compliment of staff and a decent menu at a reasonable price. Pizza is cooked in a pizza oven.
Request for a 1 HR late check out was declined and they also advised they have no luggage minding facilities. From the 2 rooms we were in I can't see that there would be any decent view from any room location, looking over dirty apartments to the rear, a school to the side or the Novotel to the front, but the hotel is very close to the Temple Street markets and walking distance to Jordan station. There was no tourist information available at the hotel but taxis wait across the road at the Novotel. Photos of the apartment block view from our first room attached.

Unsure if its the first time in so long that i lived in a budget hotel or what, this one feels like hourly hotel chains in Singapore used for rendezvous, but with worst quality.
As seen on photo, bed in such condition, luckily just headrest headboard. The mattress was combined by two singles, so you cannot sleep in middle even if you are alone? Luckily bedding was clean.
There is this issue with the air ventilation, if you do your poo poo business, you really have to either shut the toilet doors hoping it dissipates ( which it will not), or you open your main door for 20mins to air the room.
Claimed that very full gave me 6th Flr. I thnk highest is 14th, at least 2 more floors higher would have been appreciated, window faces a girl school and you cannot walk around even half clothed on you room. I never had the curtain draw away until 2nd last day then i see a hill scenery ( a shame).
I know the cleaners try doing their job hard, but the slams starts as early at 8 plus in the morning. You can hardly get good sleep, and i have chinese neighbors screaming shouting slamming doors even in the middle of night when they are back.
Also hallway was dirty, constantly for two days and that dirt you see was drag into my room, even as i leave and checkout it was still like that. They were stingy, refuse to give you water. You must ask downstairs and allocated quota is 2 bottles a day so its ok i buy my own bonaaqua and evian.
The last thing that make me very annoyed was wifi. It is impossible to even load finish updates from whatsapp web message. I had to use my 5G from cmhk for 2hrs, ended up having more problems because i used up 6.3gb in 2 hrs thanks to the hotel "wonderful wifi". I eventually have to pay another 80hkd for wifi, thank god i moved hotel.
Dont go if you have been used to the likes of at least ibis or holiday inn express, this is not your thing.

In case jetlag doesn’t affect you, lucky you ! As for me, it does when arriving from Europe to Asia, and it does even pretty badly ! So, on that night, after an afternoon arrival in Hong-Kong and early diner with customers, I found myself miraculously ready for a good night sleep whereas it usually takes me a good week to overcome it . What a delicious sensation… It was around 10:30pm.
Zzzzzz… I had wonderfully fallen into a good restorative sleep, despite of the time difference…
And then, at 11:20pm : BEEEP ! BEEEP ! BEEEP ! I just couldn’t believe it, while groping around in the dark for the handset.
The voice : “Did you asked for a wake up call at 7 O’clock ?”
Me: “Euhm, Sorry… what ?”
The voice again, simply repeating : “Did you asked for a wake up call at 7 O’clock ?”
Never mind any basic “good evening sir, this is the reception calling” or “Sorry to disturb you but…” Nope, at 11:20pm, a mere “Did you asked for a wake up call at 7 O’clock ?”
I managed to reply “No, I didn’t but you ACTUALLY just woke me up “ for I had not asked for anything such, not even remotedly.
The voice : “OK !”… and that was it !
How about that ? Never mind any “We are sorry about it, sir” or “That was a mistake”. Nope, just “OK”, and they hang up !
Needless to say, impossible to get back into sleep afterwards. Days later, I was still fighting with the effects of jetlag.
What kind of hotel is this ? How do they hire their staff ?

I sometimes wonder what reviewers expect from hotels at the prices they pay, and then moan a bucketful. This hotel is simply very functional. The rooms were clean, the staff pleasant and helpful and the ease of getting to and from the hotel easy. The A21 bus from the airport drops you at the end of the street and then a 100 metre walk to the hotel. The room views are well, other tower blocks, thats Hong Kong. The breakfast is more than adequate. It's not 3* michelin nor does it even to pretend to be. Again the staff very helpful. The room prices were very competeive, I got a good deal so look out for them. Most of the guests were chinese but that wasn't unexpected. Easy access to shops, transport centres or just even walk. The only problem with that are the touts, politely tell them NO with authority.
I enjoyed my stay. It's a price per room and I was on my own in a nice twin bedded room. Cleaned everday with regular linen changes.
I you go with an open mind it's a nice place to stay, if you expect the Ppenisnsula then go there. The price per night there being more than it cost me for 6 nights at the Rainbow.

Rainbow Hotel is very new and it is located in Jordan, Kowloon side of HK. It is well suited for practical travelers who's staying in Hong Kong for a short visit. Although there's not much amenities and recreational facilities offered, our short stay was comfortable and relaxing. Rooms with 1-Queen bed is limited compared to rooms with 2 twin-beds, so make sure you note this in your advance reservation. There is only one restaurant inside the hotel but there are a lot of small restaurants around the area so dining wont be a problem. There are only a few small shopping centers in the vicinity. The front desk staffs are helpful and can communicate well in English. Except for the early 11:00am check out time and the very very poor wi-fi connection, we had a good stay in Hotel Rainbow.

Based on the many reviews we read, we selected the Rainbow Hotel and don't regret it a bit! Hotel is very conveniently located, 5 minutes from Jordan MTR and/or 5 minutes from stop free Airport Express shuttle bus (Austin road stop). Hotel is clean, rooms have a very good sie for the city of HK, bathroom is good size and all was spotless clean. Tea in-room options, fridge and hair blower present. A/c worked perfect and is adjustable to low/high in cooling. We turned it off at night otherwise we can't sleep. Rooms were quiet, street is quiet (st the end of the street opposite Novotel), no major traffic with horns in the street.
Serving small buffet with coffee/tea, fried rice, bread, cereals, noodles, juice, cold/hot milk and some meat. On top of this you can choose out of 5 dishes, served on the table (3 fried egg variants, noodles or macaroni).
2 elevators present, night guard, 24/7 reception service. 4 minutes walk from Temple night market and 1 minute from Nathan Road, major shopping street. Total walk to Avenue of the Stars is ~ 2,3 km, a steady 30 minutes!
For a HK hotel in this price category a very, very good option to review and I highly recommend this hotel.

Booked for 10-14 Jan. Actually leaving 1 day earlier. Staff canNOT speak proper English and are unable to advise where to go or what to do in HK. HK is big and unfriendly enough as it is, and this hotel does NOT contribute to a good experience in this horrible city. Wifi is pathetic and patchy. If you are looking for good internet, this is not the hotel to choose. Please stay somewhere else or rather do not even think of making HK your holiday destination. Worst choice ever to go on holiday to HK. The view from my window is shockingly awful and horrible. Could rather have stayed at home and saved thousands.
