It’s the first time that staying in this hotel and it seems really impressive. The staff was gentle and it was rarely to find the polite employees within this room rate nowadays. The room was not bad and in-room amenities were quite enough. However, the double bed was not a real queen bed, just like twin bed put together as one big bed and the middle side was uneven. btw, the cost-effective price can make the imperfect things become more reasonable. We still suggest others to choose this hotel. A 24H supermarket located nearby, and I trust you will find it comfortable and convenient when you feel hungry at midnight.

It was a good hotel for the price. I needed a place to stay overnight to get back to the mainland and it didn't disappoint. Whilst this may have been a 4 star hotel in the past, it has obviously aged overtime. The room was comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast was based on a set menu and I was offered juice, coffee and three options. It was tasty, if a little on the small side - but again, considering the price, the breakfast was a welcome addition. Lobby staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel after renovation, room with white walls, tiles on the floor instead of dusty carpet. Comfortable bed, high quality white linens and towels. Clean bathroom with good lighting. Good water pressure and toiletries replenished daily. Large wardrobe, safe and slippers. Cons: No bathrobes or suitcase holder. Breakfast is quite varied, but sometimes it was difficult to find a free place.

Rate is good for a monthly stay, good location and weekly cleaning is acceptable. However, the hotel has the WORST WIFI of any hotel I have ever stayed - the listing says high speed internet, I can assure you it is NOT. So if you stay here, I would suggest you purchase a SIM card and hotspot to your phone or you can forget about watching Netflix, or even any emails with an attachment larger than 1 mb …

If you are looking for a monthly rental hotel, please do not stay in this hotel. It is really disappointing. There are only two rolls of toilet paper, 1 opened tissue box, 2 bottles of water, and 4 clothes hangers (there are a few more after complaints), etc... None of them will be provided, and there are only one set towel each. If the hotel thinks that the price can be raised, and has never stayed in a hotel that abused the long-term tenant like this, and does not want to keep customers, if this time is not a major wrong choice of the company, I will leave immediately. All employees have no training in attitude , The operator, the housekeeping, the front desk manager (except Maggie at the front desk) After
staying for 28 days, I will not live in this group hotel anymore. If you have a choice, please consider it!!

We stayed for 4 nights, the only great thing about this hotel is its location, close to everything. The rooms are very small, not as clean as it should be or as I would want it to be, that bothered me quite a lot, way overpriced. Service was average, bartender didn't understand a word English. Swimming pool still closed for maintenance.

Stayed at the Empire Hotel Kowloon for 9 days in March, 2005. Never heard of this hotel before but the rates and facilities attracted my attention.

Saw pictures of the rooms but in real life they are actually smaller than what they show in the photos. 2 persons is a maximum fit. If you have an extra kid, you may want to look elsewhere. The standard twin bed rooms are best for those who spend little time in the hotel and only use it for showers and some shut eyes. The carpets in the room needs a deep cleaning as they look pretty soiled. High speed internet is pricey and works only on TV. While on that subject, my room is not equipped with an LCD TV as shown in the "official" photos.

However, once you factored in it's location, you tend to view it differently. The Empire Kowloon is located at the intersection of Kimberley and Observatory road. The former connects to Nathan road - all the subway and buses, the latter leads you to TST East by foot. Total convenience and every major hot spot like Mongkok, Central, Wanchai, Causeway Bay is only 2 to 3 stops from the hotel by subway. Plus there is a 7-11 store on BOTH streets, and laundry shops can be found aplenty with great rates in a small lane just behind the hotel.

One more gripe - the pool is unheated. Even in March, the water is bone chilling cold.

All in all, I still recommend this hotel if your intention is to shop till you drop in Hong Kong and a hotel that isn't too far away from where all the action is.

This was my first and last stay at this hotel. From start to finish it was poor. When we checked in the receptionist didn't even bother to greet us properly and engaged in a telephone call whilst checking us in resulting in us misunderstanding what charges were monies were required from us. They then put us in a double instead of twin room despite us confirming this several times. Not once at this time was a sorry said. The first room we were given was very small (livable though) but was in a very poor state, eg The bathroom cups were stained dirty, there was no lock on the bathroom door, the basin did not drain correctly. Further when we used a tea cup it was changed at all but just left in our room. On the 3rd day the shower become blocked and unusable without flooding. The WiFi was also incredibly unreliable. This was when we complained. This resulted in a free upgrade which was good and all our issues were dealt with professionally by the duty manager. However, even in the upgraded (empire plus) room the toilet didn't flush correctly resulting in blockage and the bed sheet was stained.

Never before have we stayed in a hotel, that charged this much, but disappointed at every turn. Avoid it, save your precious time (complaining or trying to fix broken things or dealing with bad service) there are better options in HK in the same location and for more or the less the same price!

I was hesitant about booking the Empire Kowloon after reading some reviews but decided on this hotel anyways because of the great location. I was not dissappointed. While in Hong Kong- it seems that you aren't in your room much anyways because the hotel is surrounded with shops and great places to eat at any time of the day.

The room was quite small. My husband and I requested a non-smoking room with a single queen bed. You literally have enough room for your luggage and 2 people- but that really wasn't the problem. The room felt more cozy than cramped. The room also had a very nice modern spacious bathroom and the bedroom had built in furniture that conserved space but also gave you everything you could possibly need! The people who designed the room are pure genious using every nook and cranny for a purpose. The rooms are very modern with clean lines and the beds are quite comfortable. This is coming from a person who has trouble sleeping in hotels. The Concierge in the hotel was just wonderful- he recommended places for us to visit, told us about the best shopping areas, retaurants and MTR stops to go to and confirmed our flights for us. Days later he still remembered who we were and reminded us of the car service appointment he had made for us to the airport.

We did not eat in the hotel- but we did try the breakfast buffet one morning. It was an average buffet with western breakfast foods but if it isn't included in your room price- it probably isn't worth it since they charge an equivalent to $14US. One block away from the hotel there are various restaurants that serve both chinese and western breakfast foods for a third of the price. The MTR station is about 4 blocks away from the hotel (depending on which direction you walk) and you are very close to the park, museums and major attractions of Kowloon which are also all in walking distance.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It's hard to find a place that focuses on customer service and is clean and comfortable. I will make it a must on my next trip to Hong Kong.

We stayed at the Empire Kowloon for three nights in early May, 2005. Previously we had stayed at the Kowloon Hotel. The Empire is not nearly as nice. While the design of the Empire had its attractions (lobby, bathrooms) overall we were disappointed. The room was small and dark. The bathroom, while beautifully designed, showed rust and failing caulking. The complicated wiring failed. We came back to our room after a nice evening out to find that we had no lights in our room. We had to prop the door open to let in light from the hall until someone arrived to fix the lights. Cable TV selections were limited except overpriced pay movies. There was no wireless Internet and they charged for in-room Internet access. Staff were quite helpful but not especially attentive. The buffet breakfast was pretty good but don't consider it unless it's included in with your room as it's vastly overpriced. If you want basic acommodations and can get a room there at a reasonable price the Empire is OK. Otherwise you can do better.
