Nestled in a riverine forest in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, the area is a favourite for elephants coming to drink from the Talek River. Ilkeliani camp consists of only 1 2tents, each commanding views of the plains and the wildlife action throughout the day. The tented rooms are raised up on wood decks overlooking the Talek river and the plains. The tents are surrounded by vegetation and well spaced out and each one has been sited under its own cluster of shady indigenous trees and you do feel like you are out in the wilderness. The camp now has a suspension bridge for easy access to the reserve for early game drives

We stayed in 2 hotels, 2 camps, and a resort on our trip, and Ilkeliani Camp was by far our favorite stay. The food was excellent and service was unparalleled. Sara in dining was so friendly and very helpful. David took us on a visit to the Maasai Village behind the camp where we got a chance to interact with the locals and join in song and dance. Sylvestre was the most gracious host and checked on us every evening to ensure we were enjoying our stay. And our safari guide Patrick was the absolute best!!! We saw everything we wanted including cheetahs, leopards, lions, hippos, and baby elephants. The bridge to camp was unique and the riverside lookout tower a nice touch. The rooms were immaculate and they provided anything you could want or need including insect repellent, an insulated water bottle, a sewing kit, a shaving kit, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, etc. We had unlimited hot water for showers, flush toilets, and the fresh breeze from the screened in tent kept the room cool and comfortable. The bedding was luxurious and they even provided a hot water bottle to warm the bed during their turn down service so we slept like royalty. They also provided a wake up call service where they delivered tea and coffee right to our rooms to enjoy overlooking the river before our early morning game drives and packed us a picnic breakfast so we could spend extra time out in the camp when the animals are most active. We always felt safe with the support of the security guards watching for animals at night. We will tell all our family and friends about Ilkeliani and can’t wait to go back!!!

I spent 2 night at Camp Ilkeliani, and from the moment I saw the bridge I knew I was going to like this place. The staff there is very friendly and welcoming, especially
Daniel, Eric and Sara. After checking in with reception, I was escorted to my tent by a Maasai warrior. The accommodations are very comforting and relaxing. The meals that were prepared were always delicious. The staff offers wake up calls, were you'll be greeted in the morning with your choice of coffee or tea. I always felt safe knowing there were Maasai warriors standing guard outside the tents. The observation deck is great way to enjoy a few cups of coffee as you watch the sun rise. The bar/lounge is a great place to unwind after a full day out in the Mara to enjoy an adult beverage and review the days pictures. Or to talk to the other guest and share experiences. I'm personally recommending this location to my friends that will be planning safaris in the near future. Ansate Sana!

Where to start with how amazing this place is. I booked it for a surprise trip for my husband. After an hour flight on a 12 seater from Nairobi we were met on the airstrip by John Mark who was our driver for the next five days.

On arrival at the camp after 12 hours travelling we got a cool towel and juice. The staff greeted us beautifully and escorted us through for lunch. This was the first of many meals that were sublime.

Our tent (it barely met that definition!) Was beyond words. Luxurious, spacious, beautifully decorated.

I could type for hours about this place so will try to be concise. The game drivers brought tears to my eyes, we gasped and gaped and stared at incredible animals and creatures. The early starts were made special by the delivery of tea, coffee and biscotti to our room.

Breakfast was taken while on game drive. We ate with zebra, giraffe and hippos!

On return for lunch the delicious food helped with the tiredness. Nothing was a problem for the staff.

Evening game drives were followed by a shower in the tent overlooking the river. Enough to render you speechless.

Dinner was another epic meal beautifully delivered. A Masai keeps watch outside each tent through the hours of darkness and escorts you to dinner and your vehicle.

I literally cannot fault this place. Memories made for a lifetime.

Ilkeliani camp was our first accomodation in Kenya and it totally exceeded our expectations. Very welcoming and grateful staff always happy to interact with guests, clean food, clean and luxurious accomodation with beautiful touches such as warming the bed before sleeping, cleaning shoes, accompanying you to the tent when dark to feel safe or preparing gluten free and lactose free pancakes in the middle of safari. We also appreciated original refilling bottles of water as a gift and repellent. If we ever visit Masai mara again, we will definitely choose Ilkeliani or recommend to any guests that like high standard accomodation with high standard service.

I stayed there with my 5 year old son for 2 nights. We loved the location - truly in nature. There are masais to help drop you to & from your room in the night. Our room was big, clean & with a Talek Review view. There is hot water facility, electricity at night, mosquito repellents. We also got mosquito nets on request. We had a wakeup call both the mornings that was accompanied by bed tea/coffee & biscuits. We had packed breakfasts for both the morning safaris. Our driver cum guide Patrick was just outstanding. He was well connected over radio phone & mobile phone with the others & was constantly on a look out for the big 5. We could see 4 out of big 5 (didn't see leopards). We were lucky to see a Rhino. The guide was very well aware of different types of animals / birds & shared his knowledge with us. We enjoyed the breakfast in the Savannahs!
The entire staff - Mr Musa, Ms Silvia, Ms Diana, Mr Edgeon & all others were extremely helpful. The chef offered special preps to my son & the veg option was very good. I liked the set menu style. There was also a common terrace / viewing deck where one can just relax.
There is a bridge that connects the camp to the other side of the Talek river where you board the safari vehicles. This saves a lot of travel time as you do the safaris. We also enjoyed the guided nature walk.
For sure we will visit Ilkeliani again!!

I can't say enough positive words about Ilkeliani Camp! When we arrived, we were greeted extremely warmly by Sylvester and George. They sat us down in the common area for a briefing and they served us delicious fresh juice. From the moment we arrived, my friend and I felt like family. All of the staff we interacted with daily were warm, friendly, engaging and incredible: George, Erick, Martin, Sylvester and Cynthia made us feel like we were at home during our entire stay. George and Martin always greeted us for meals and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our amazing conversations with them. All of the meals that were served at Ilkeliani was positively fresh and delicious- we had lots of options for each meal, and they served meals with a lot of variety and fresh ingredients. Each meal was beautifully presented. We ate SO SO well during our stay! Kuddos to the chef for the amazing meals!
We were so impressed with our beautiful and spacious tent. The tent had modern brass fixtures in the bathroom and the beds were cozy and comfortable. Each night there was a warm water bottle placed in the bed for turn down service. It was a wonderful way to end our busy adventure-filled days. We loved hearing the sounds of the Maasai Mara at night, including the hyenas!
We loved the activities we engaged in during our stay. We had daily game drives with the BEST driver, Jamlick! We were immersed in the Great Migration and it was the most breathtaking experience. On our 3rd day we were taken into the local Maasai village by Erick. This was an unforgettable experience, as Erick took the time to help us learn about the Maasai culture by guiding us through the village, introducing us to the people in the village, and making us feel like we are family. If you want a life-changing and unforgettable experience in the Maasai Mara, book your stay at Ilkeliani Camp!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at IIkeliani Camp for such a warm welcome and for making our trip so memorable. We laughed, exchanged stories and celebrated creating an unforgettable safari experience.

Apologies if I have spelt any names incorrectly but a particular shout out to Serah, George & Natasha for looking after us, mealtimes were always fun. Jared & Eric, for helping us settle in and Joseph our excellent Masai guide/driver who shared his knowledge, ensured we were not disappointed on our game drives and that we made the most of our Masai Mara experience and had the best sightings of all the animals including a wonderful sundowner with a pride of lions. Also a big thank you to the Masai who ensured our safety through our stay particularly in the late evenings and early mornings.

This eco- friendly oasis in the middle of the Masai Mara offers the best of safari with a modern twist. We stayed in a premium tent which was modern, spacious, well furnished and clean with all the amenities you needed, including repellent to ensure your space was bug free at all times. I also loved the lemon soap and shower gel so much I bought some to take home!

We had access to a pool, Wi-Fi in communal areas and spa treatments were available for a fee. Mercy the therapist offered an excellent all round service in the comfort of your tent.

We stayed on an all- inclusive basis and we’re not disappointed with the variety of food and drink on offer. Mealtimes were exceptional, with three courses made to a high standard and as a vegetarian I did not want for anything. Kenyan coffee is a must as was the Kenyan Cane. Meals at lunch time were fun, you could spot the animals across the river watching you.
A huge thank you to the chef and his team for the birthday cake and ensuring we had a special evening.

Game drives were, both exceptional and exciting beginning with the walk across the hanging bridge over the river into the reserve. This all made for the safari experience. We woke to the sounds of the Mara and smell of masala chai, the evenings were spent under the stars, sitting around the ignited fire pit with a drink recollecting all that we had seen during the day.

If your budget allows, we’d recommend the hot air safari, although an early start, it is an amazing experience not to be missed.

IIkeliani surpassed our expectations and we have visited some amazing places. This is luxury camping with a personalised service at its best.
We highly recommend IIkeliani, do not hesitate to book you will not be disappointed. This was our first safari and we look forward to visiting again!

Settle in a riverine forest in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Fantastic place to stay with their immaculate camp rooms. We are so lucky to stay at the family Camp.
A five-star property provides flawless guest services .The staff are great!

Ilkeliani camp was one of the four places we stayed at during our recent visit to Kenya.
The unique style and architecture of the camp with brand new tents that we got to occupy made our stay very pleasant and comfortable.
The choice of food was excellent and there were many options for vegetarians and pescatarians alike.
There was always a guard accompanying us to and from dinner or if we wished to step out after dark and there were guards outside our tents throughout the night watching out for animals that could be lingering in the wild.
I felt the location of the camp being within walking distance to a Masai village was advantageous as well.
Ilkeliani camp was undoubtedly our favorite and we would definitely plan to stay there during future visits to Masai Mara.
The warm hospitality of the cheerful, friendly service oriented staff most certainly contributed to this fact.
Mara was our final stop during our two weeks in Kenya and being at Ilkeliani helped end our trip on a high note and have the best memories .
Hence callling ilkeliani camp a home away from home is certainly not an overstatement!

If you’re searching for a 5* safari experience paired with a 5* luxury stay, this is the place for you! From the moment we arrived at the landing strip we were greeted with the biggest smiles from Dominic and Patrick. These guys were amazing safari guides and so knowledgable! They knew all the best spots! Within 5 minutes of driving we had a cheetah prowl within a metre of our truck, and the remaining days didn’t disappoint either - numerous lion encounters, giraffes, herds of elephants and even hippos. When we arrived at camp we were greeted by robin who took so much care in making sure we had a comfortable stay, he even surprised us with a complementary cake to celebrate our honeymoon! I can just picture coming back in 5 years time and he’ll be be running the place!
Eric took the time to show us around the camp and told us all about his culture and life experiences, we had such interesting conversations and could have spent hours chatting with him.
The location of the camp is out of this world, you feel as though you are right in the heart of the Masai Mara, yet with luxuries we couldn’t of even imagined! The ‘tents’ were beautiful, I feel as though you can’t really call them a tent as they were nothing like you would expect! Airy, comfy, beautifully designed and completely spotless!
The chef/catering team deserve a huge round of applause! We have NEVER had food as good as they serve at this place, and we regularly dream of the meals they served! Even as pescatarians we were given so much choice and the ladies who served us were so helpful and friendly!
We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Masai Mara! We can’t wait to visit again!

They do offer the service for an added cost. You can book it through the camp or through your tour company. Usually tour companies are cheaper than the camps.

I don't remember since I never use one and my grandson lets his hair dry naturally. I agree that it is a wonderful place which should have them available.

We hired a personal driver who used a Toyota Land Cruiser for our family of 4. These are the best vehicles as there is a lot of viewing room and they are tiered (higher in the back row). Also, they do great in all terrain. There were some vans, that got stuck and had to be towed out. If you are booking game drive through the hotel, I would contact them and ask for more details. They will be very accommodating to what you want.
