Detailed Reviews
I stayed at Nine Tree Premier Hotel Insadong for four nights. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall and right smack in the middle of the Insadong main street, so the location was quite convenient as a base for travelling around Seoul (nearest subway/metro station is Anguk, just a few minutes away), picking up things at convenience store(s) and shopping for souvenirs around the street. I think it may be a fairly new development - I don't recall seeing it when I had previously visited Seoul, pre-covid times.
It's a short walking distance from Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jogyesa Temple. Ssamziegil right across the street is a must visit, and aside from shopping crafts, I believe it runs some workshops which I unfortunately had little time to explore more on. There are also a lot of museums in the area. There are plenty of food options in the area, including vegan restaurant Osegyehyang, vegan cafe Maru and halal restaurant Nirvana Halal Indian Kitchen. You MUST check out the many traditional teahouses ("chatjib") in the area.
The hotel has a coin laundry facility including microwave oven (Godsend), business center, as well as a stored luggage area (will need to pay additional fees). The downside is that the shopping mall is only around 50-70% occupied, so it has nothing much going on there. There is also no swimming pool.
I found the room acceptable. The size is pretty much a hotel standard, and pretty clean. I felt that the general upkeep was a bit lacking, I could see paint on handles peeling off. There are amenities such as toothbrushes etc. though I must point out that I have been to many hotels and Nine Tree Insadong is the first hotel I've stayed at that does not have a comb amongst its amenities. I'm not sure if it's this specific branch, or Nine Tree branding in particular. The other hotels in Seoul have combs.
Communicating in English is no problem. I have not tried other languages.
If I were to stay at Insadong, I would stay at the hotel again.

I had a three night stay at this hotel and really enjoyed my time here! It’s perfectly located for tourists- palaces, Bukchon, Insadong, etc.. are all walking distance. Lots of shopping and restaurants right outside along with metro stops. It’s a beautiful new hotel. Employees are friendly with good enough English, the breakfast room is really nice with a great selection and they have a nice lounge with a coffee machine overlooking Jogyesa Temple. I would definitely stay here again. My only concern for travelers is the tub/shower- it’s a big step up to get in... elderly people would probably need to sit on the edge and turn to get in and out as it is a slipping risk. Great heated and auto toilet Japan style!

I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. The location of the hotel is like a 45 minute taxi drive from the Incheon Airport but possibly shorter/longer by the Airport train. It is almost dead centre of all of the popular attractions and also next to several subway stations which makes getting around Seoul very convenient and simple.
My room had a amazing view of the Jogyesa Temple and was pleasantly big and comfortable. The staff and service was up to notch and made my stay at the hotel all the best! This is a ideal hotel for anyone's first time in South Korea and willing to spend quite a bit of money.
The ONLY negative and reason why I haven't given this hotel a 5 star, is the breakfast. Now for anyone who is expecting a full range of options for breakfast, unfortunately this hotel only does traditional Korean breakfast. The is a restaurant connected to the hotel that is a short walk away and you are given a option of 4 Korean styled breakfast to have. While I enjoyed the dishes and like the idea of having a Korean breakfast, I wish there were more options to choose from or at least allow others who aren't as keen as me to have English or general breakfast meals such as your cereal, bacon, toast etc.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and I would defiantly come here again. I only hope/wish the hotel would open up more options for breakfast.
P.S. There is also a wonderful rooftop bar that you should defiantly try out!

We stayed for five nights in a suite.
The location is the best part; everything else was sub-par. The hotel is definitely not four stars. I would put it in the three star category. I’ll explain why-
1. Staff: though cordial, they don’t exhibit courtesy or service expected of a four star hotel. They don’t offer help with luggage or take their time to explain their amenities thoroughly. The front desk is tiny, tucked into a small corner on the reception floor (5th). Underwhelming overall. By the way, they required that they make photocopies of all passports beyond the primary guest, including that of a minor. That felt too invasive.
2. Amenities: tiny (not very clean or ventilated) gym. Ice/water dispenser on select floors. There’s a restaurant on the fifth floor that is currently not in operation. My reservation included daily breakfast- you’ll have to walk out to the mall section of the hotel to a partnered restaurant that serves Korean breakfast. Had I known this prior, I wouldn’t have paid extra. I don’t recommend it since there are plenty of restaurants/ cafes nearby
3. Overall cleanliness: below average. All the dark, wooden furniture and TV wall have hand prints. The comforter and pillow don’t look to be thoroughly cleaned. Tattered, ripped fitted sheet was visible in plain view. The housekeepers will ring the door even when you have turned on do not disturb, if they feel that cleaning is due.
By the way, check out the benches with beige cushions opposite from the reception. All of them have big stains.
The overall condition and management of the hotel were very underwhelming. I wouldn’t go back.

I booked the hotel together with my daughter for 10 nights (Deluxe Twin) on a city break. It was an excellent choice. The room and bathroom are not overly large, but this is normal by Seoul standards in this price range. The room was well maintained and clean with daily reliable room service. The reception staff, cleaners and breakfast area staff were discreet but very friendly and accommodating. Also worth mentioning is the breakfast buffet, which has something to offer for all tastes, is super delicious and very rich and varied. You may be used to a slightly different breakfast in Europe - but you travel to other countries to get to know something new. Especially the kimchi for breakfast - a treat!
My big thanks to all the staff!
The location of the hotel is also outstanding - between Jogyesa Temple and Insadong Culture Street with a lot of dining and shopping venues. Two subway stations a few hundred meters away, good bus connections as well as numerous attractions such as Bukchon Hanok Village, Gwanghwamun, Cheonggycheon and Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces are within walking distance.
I can absolutely recommend the place and would book it again immediately on another visit to Seoul.

Great location that’s quiet yet close to attractions and subway. The hotel itself is modern and clean. There is a convenience store attached that you can buy subway cards and also top them up when needed.
There is an attached restaurant and a tiny fitness centre. Wi-Fi is free and works well. The room is quiet and the service is very good.
We paid the rate for the “‘included minibar” which is a bag they deliver each day with 2 beers, 2 cokes, a sprite, small can of Pringle’s chips, a snickers bar and a bag of beer jerky. The issue was we don’t drink non- diet pop and you cannot make any substitutions so we ended up leaving a bunch of cans in the room as we were there for a week.
The negative is that the white wallpaper in the room is quite marked up and dirty in spots. There’s a sign in the room saying it’s Hanji Korean paper made from Mulberry trees and the wall staining is from the natural fiber pattern of the bark. This may have been true when first installed but there’s lots of obvious repaired areas and marks which takes away from an otherwise nice room. It also takes 2 elevators to get to your room as the reception is on the 5th floor and you have to switch elevators. This makes it slightly inconvenient as you have to wait twice to go up or down. However the elevators were quick and the waits were never long.
The other complaint is that the a/c can’t get the room cold but it was a very hot week there in the low to mid 30C’s.
To summarize we would totally stay here again when we visit as we did enjoy the property.

Avoid this hotel like the plague. It is not a 4 star hotel, no room service, no services at all, room very basic, everything very restricted and there are no amenities or services.... if you do not eat by 930am, you cannot get anything until lunch- nothing. I have no clue how they got 4 starts. The excuse is that they removed some services during covid but covid is way over. The worst 4 star hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world and I have traveled to over 50 countries. I was not expecting a spa or anything but basic stuff, like a spoon in the room for making tea, or even room service is not available. No attention to detail. Only stay here if you plan to never be in the hotel except to sleep, since the only plus is that the room is very clean.

Dear nadiamQ7791TX, Thank you very much for your post here on Tripadvisor which I have read with a measure of surprise and disappointment. Firstly, I was disappointed to read of the issues you encountered during your stay and I can assure this is not to the standard that we as a hotel pride ourselves upon. To that end, I wish to make a sincere apology to you for the inconvenience caused. Naturally without you sharing this we would not know where we need to improve, and I shall definitely check and share the areas for improvement you have highlighted with the team in our daily meeting. You are an important customer to us. I am writing to you in the hopes that your experience for this stay will not affect your passion and desire towards staying at another Nine Tree Hotel in the future. Once again, nadiam, on behalf of hotel management team, I apologize for your experience. Hotel Management

The location is good, the sheets were clean. Loved the luggage locker system. The amenities in the room were not replenished after a previous guest. The biggest let down of all though was the City Bus Tour that was included with my reservation. The check-in is not until 3pm, I arrived around 12. While I expected having to wait and was perfectly fine storing my luggage, I did want to collect my hop-on, hop-off ticket so I could do the tour while waiting for the check-in (my reservation was 100% pre-paid). The receptionist informed me that I can only get my ticket at check-in. Looking at the bus schedule, I should have had about 1.5 hours until the last bus at 4:30 and one of its stops was 10min away, so I said I’ll wait. I returned to the hotel at 3 and was given a voucher that I was supposed to exchange for a ticket at the bus company’s office. Unfortunately, I could only do it at their primary location - 50min walking from the hotel or taking a subway. If I got this information and the ticket at 12pm, I would have gladly tried navigating the subway system with plenty of time to spare. However, after already wandering around for 3 hours and limited time until the last bus left, I had to bag the idea. What a waste of money. If the ticket exchange process is explained somewhere on the website, I apologize. If not, there should be a disclaimer that tickets are not available prior to check-in and the pick-up location is miles away from the hotel. This matters for guests who have only one day in Seoul. Knowing this ahead of time, I would have opted for a cheaper reservation and purchased my own City Bus tour.

It was very disappointing. The rooms were small and the sink is in the hallway which is very weird. None of the pictures of the hotel was showing the sink was in the hallway. They only give you 2 pillows for 2 people so if you need more pillows you need to rent it from the pillow bar! There is only 2 English speaking tv channels Chinese global news and a movie channel, that’s it! Wallpaper is old and dirty. The towels are rough and smells bit weird. For the price of $400 (Australian dollars) per night it was it was very disappointing. It’s more like a 2 1/2 star hotel. Not coming back here again

Hotel has a great location. It's located just a block from the Anguk Station and the Airport Bus stop. For tourist its the perfect spot to start there trip in Seoul with the Royal palaces within walking distance and historical streets of Insadong just out the back of the hotel. Rooms were clean and had the basics in them. Sink is outside the bathroom in your living room area. Rooms have traditional bathtubs in them. Towels were starting to get a bit rough around the edges.
Check in is on the 5th floor and the building seems to function as an office tower as well so it was a little confusing at first. The 5th floor has lots of lockers you can use to store luggage if you have a late flight or arrive early. Only draw back was that if you do get a temple view room, the monks start the day at 4:30am and you can hear the light "doooong" of the bell in the morning.
