If you are looking for a lovely place to spend a few nights, it will be Vila Chaumieres. Just 20 minutes away from the airport. You enter from the parking space through a beautyful flower walkway. Everything is green and colorful. The main building with reception, bar and restaurant is located directly at the water. We choose the room on first floor with a good view along the waterside. The hosts and owners are very nice and good hearted people. They were quite kind with rearranging some nights, because of our flight issues with Air Vanuatu. They also run a really good restaurant. You can sit directly above the water, surrounded by lots of fish with a fantastic view. The chefs chocolate mousse was very delicious. We enjoyed all our evenings there with different main courses. And if you need tour guides or recommendations to visit, they explain all and organize it for you. We also did a little kayaking along the waterside. It was a good and wonderful time the…
The bungalows of Vila Chaumieres lie in a beautifully landscaped garden through which a path winds its way to the restaurant over the water. All is well-kept and maintained and looks tidy and clean. The couple running the place is very hospitable and kind. Some art pieces she has made herself can be seen in the garden. There is also a small pool, aside from the direct access to the lagoon . Kayaks can be used for free at any time. Laundry services are provided. The restaurant over the lagoon is just lovely with its views. Food is good though not fully living up to European standard. The staff in the restaurant could be a bit more attentive/faster but they are still friendly. I would definitely recommend Vila Chaumieres for its beautiful setting and comfort!
There are so many things that make this place unique. But the gardens are what really thrilled me. You enter the property by meandering along raked paths through lush densely planted garden beds full of colour. Once through reception and down to the restaurant over the water there are added garden ornaments and hanging art made of mosaics and ceramics that are artsy and whimsical. Our accommodation was upstairs in a lagoon view room with a huge wooden balcony that looked out over the garden, restaurant area and lagoon. Because you are amongst the trees at this level the shade they afford is what makes it so cool and pleasant. Ursula and Richard are the perfect hosts. The advice they gave us for getting to know Vanuatu in a week was invaluable. They are lovely people, considerate, kind and generous. I couldn't fault this place in fact. The beds are firm and comfy, rooms a good size, service excellent, facilities very good especially for the price you pay. It's quirky, charming and very appropriately designed for the climate. The breakfast included each morning was substantial. Fresh fruits, croissants and toasted batard, juice and coffees. We had 2 meals here during our stay as well as breakfast each day. I cannot recommend highly enough the Fishermans Feast. I binged on crayfish, coconut crab, calamari, wahoo, coconut crusted prawns.....All of it fresh and the light pernot flavoured sauces and chilli lime glazes were exquisite. I still salivate thinking about it. The restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening. Ursula and Richard provide you with something special when you stay here. Yes it's 40 years old, no it's not a fancy schmancy resort. It is so much more than that! It's a whole experience. We have LOVED our stay and have made wonderful lifetime memories during our stay here. …
We loved our stay with Ursula, Richard and staff at Villa Chaumieres. The accommodation was clean and quite spacious, gardens were beautiful, staff friendly and the restaurant meals top quality. The value for the accommodation is incredible with restaurant meals and beverages on par with other quality resorts throughout Vanuatu. We loved spending time reading on the jetty in beanbags, kayaking along the lagoon and swimming in the lagoon. Water was clean and safe to drink meaning no plastic bottles required (hooray!) and minimal mosquitoes or flies. This is a special little hidden place in Vanuatu.
Lovely and quiet, lagoon view room was the best with large balcony to relax, the restaurant serves beautiful food, with a great view over the water and watching the fish below. Staff are lovely. Ursula and Richard are fabulous hosts, giving great advice and stayed up till late waiting for us to arrive after long delays. The pool was relaxing, and as there are only 5 rooms with no children, it was perfect. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a nice quiet place to relax and wind down , I also had the BEST massage. Thanks Ursula and Richard :)
