We first visited Angelfish Cove Villas in 2017 and returned recently to find that it was just as wonderful as we remembered.
We stayed for 13 nights in Villa 9, a studio with beach view and plunge pool. The villa was spacious and very well appointed. The kitchen, whilst small, had everything we needed to prepare all of our meals. We appreciated the Nespresso machine and the BBQ.
We wanted a private, quiet and relaxing holiday and Angelfish was the perfect place for us. Snorkelling right off the beach in crystal clear water was a daily highlight. The sunsets were breathtaking.
The staff were wonderful. George organised transport for us to shop at Au Bonne Marche in Port Vila. Joy Lene, Mottie and the other staff made our stay special.
A big thank you goes to Anthony the manager of Vanuatu Luxury Holiday Homes, which we found to be a fully customer centred business.
Angelfish Cove is for you if you want to chill out at a low key property set in a beautiful location.

We only had three nights at Anglefish Cove Villas and we were all very sad to leave this beautiful place. We had the three bedroom Villa right on the beach. We were so glad we choose this place. Having a little private pool next to the patio was beautiful. The water was calm and quite shallow so we felt safe to snorkel and canoe. The beach is beautiful and private. Sunsets were amazing. There are two restuarants in walking distance and we loved having a kitchen to cook our big Breakfast and sit on the patio. We had a hire car from World Car Rentals. They delivered the car to us which made it so easy for us. While driving around I looked at the other resorts but I believe Angelfish Cove Villas is the best choose for a family of six. We will definately be back.

We spent 7 nights on Vila 3 at at Angelfish Villas and would recommend it to anyone. The vila had everything we needed, beautifully decorated, very comfy and clean. We spent much of our time on the porch chilling and enjoying the view.

The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly.

The beach is suitable for swimming at high tide., although it never gets very deep. The pool is quite deep, good for low tide. There is a charge to swim at most beaches at Efate so it is lovely to have a beach at the front door.

The kitchen has everything you need for self catering g. If you don’t feel like cooking can easily walk to nearby hotels that have restaurants.

Recommend hiring a car if you want to explore Efate. There are buses (mini-buses with no timetable) everywhere, but they don’t come to the door.

I stayed at Angelfish Cove Villas with my husband and two young children recently. We were thoroughly impressed with our two bedroom beachfront villa and resort amenities from the moment we arrived. There is a fully equipped kitchen with outdoor BBQ facilities. The bathroom was large and modern. There are no TVs in the villas (which we ended up appreciating) however their is a computer monitor that plays DVDs and included an ipod docking station. Wifi access worked fine for email and basic Internet access.

The resort consists of approximately ten to twelve one and two bedroom villas and has a real seclusion feel. The pool is lovely and clean, and the surrounding gardens are beautiful. The resort manager and family are friendly and extremely helpful. They can assist with your travel needs to local sites or shops and were always accommodating.

As mentioned in previous reviews the villas are located a 20 minute drive away from the shops. So definitely ensure you shop before you arrive. We organized transfers from the airport with the resort manager and on the way to the villas we stopped at a local supermarket. We also packed in our suitcase some of our children's favorite snacks as not all varieties were available in Port Vila. And if you fancy a yummy meal out Paradise Cove and Nirvana resort restaurants are only a short walk away.

Life just felt very easy and relaxed while holidaying at Angelfish Cove. Beach and reef access is directly in front of the villas. The reef has some amazing fish to see (reef shoes and snorkel sets are a must - kids too). Plus the kids loved walking into the reef when the tide was out searching for sea life. Starfish, hermit crabs, clown fish, they loved it. Kayaks are available for use at all times. Also there are plenty of geckos and creepy crawlies to see around the villas. Mosquito coils, insect spray, matches are provided by the resort. We recommend keeping all your food in the fridge as the pantry was often habited by cockroaches.

Overall we loved it and can't wait to visit again.

My partner and I have just returned from our stay at Angelfish Cove Villas after a 10 night stay. Our initial response driving along Pango road in a taxi was quite unsettling, I had read reviews mentioning this road but I was obviously ill prepared for the true state of it. Enormous pot holes and bumps, obviously not meant to be tackled with a Sedan, our decision to hire a Luxury 4WD several days in proved an extremely wise decision as the Tarago style vans you are driven around in are in a very poor condition and feel unsafe (not to mention the lack of road rules and dangerous driving but hey! this is Vanuatu!). After the shock of the road wore off we were shown to our Villa by the manager Peter, he was always helpful in sorting transport our for us in the form of local minibus driver Sam. We were charged around 7000 vatu per day trip for Sam to drive us which we did twice to 2 different locations (Blue Hole and Mele Cascades.... AMAZING!) I'm not sure if we were overcharged or not but to us it was worth it Sam was a lovely local guy who never minded stopping on the way back for us to pick up groceries! The villa itself was stunning and fitted out beautifully, I don't think it had actually been stayed in, the open air bathroom was a pleasant surprise although the hit and miss hot water was irritating but a cool shower was sometimes welcomed after a hot day, it never really bothered us. The women came and cleaned the villa each day unless we opted for a day in! The pool was gorgeous and we often felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We also took the kayaks out on numerous occasions. The only reason that I'm not giving the villas an Excellent, rather a Very Good, is due to the fact that there were some minor works still going on at the property and being woken up to buzz saws isn't the nicest feeling on holiday, wouldn't have minded if this was made apparent to us when booking. Also the villas are still yet to be completed in some aspects, little things like fly screens over the wooden shutters were on some of the villas but not on our just yet, it was either deal with the bugs at night or close them up. A scary incident with 2 giant huntsmen in the air conditioner warned me off using it, but the ceiling fans were more than enough most nights. The beach was nice but reef shoes are 100% required, much like most of the beaches in Vanuatu. We took full advantage of the bar and restaurant at the lovely Paradise Cove Resort a short walk up from the Villas and were always looked after by the extremely lovely staff! You will need to be prepared to pay slightly higher than western prices at the Au Bon Marche (supermarkets) to stock you Villa because there is literally nothing around, you cannot simply pop to the shops. All in all the villas offer a peaceful, relaxed environment away from crowds of bogans we discovered at the major resorts (Hideaway Island, go for the snorkelling but don't hang around, noise noise noise!) As a young couple the Villas fit us perfectly, I loved our time there, just watch out for those potholes!

*** It was unknown to me that for young women (I'm early 20's) it is a bad idea to wear standard holiday clothes (denim shorts, singlet tops, mini dresses) outside of your lodgings. The men tend to stare and it made me quite uncomfortable and uneasy, although I don't believe it was done maliciously. Opt for at least knee length + no cleavage, I wore a maxi dress instead of short shorts and felt a lot more comfortable in public areas! Just a tip! x

The 6 of us stayed in 2 of the 2 bedroom villas. They had so much space! My wife and I in one and her three sisters and a boyfriend in the other. One was beach front and the other was poolside and we often ended up eating altogether on the large outdoor tables in front of the villa. TV only played DVD's as far as I could tell. We loved the open-air bathroom at the rear. It had high walls for privacy but a cool breeze could flow through.
Our villa was 10 metres to our own beach, with excellent snorkelling. We saw clown fish, a sea snake and fish flying out of the water and was a perfect place for watching the sun set. We had our own bus driver who we could book a time with and would take us on day trips or you could go into to town for $AUS3 each. At the end of the paved road is Ramada Breakas Beach Resort and then it is under 10 mins van ride over a dirt road with pot-holes through Pango Village. Angelfish is close enough not to be a bother and far enough out of town to really enjoy an Island rather than a dirty town. That said, we tried to shop for food to last us 3 days at a time so we only needed fresh bread. Half of the villa's have their own private plunge pool and there is a large enough central pool. These are fully self contained with good air-con and you can wander 500 metres up the road to two other resorts if you can't be bothered cooking.
Morris our bus driver was fantastic and on-time or early every time. The manager Morrison even gave us his spare mobile phone so we could call our driver when we were out on a day trip. Ex-pat Caroline was really helpful with local knowledge and all our questions and the gardener caught the odd spider or two for the girls.
The last of the buildings are now basically finished so there was very little building activity except for painting and some landscaping at one end. Overall it was a wonderful relaxed place where we could fully unwind and loved to come back to after day trips.

We stayed at Angel Fish Cove Villas in January this year. We had booked 11 nights and I wish we could have stayed for 11 more! The villas are self contained with basic cooking facilities (studio unit) and we managed well. The transfer driver will take you to Au Bon Marche for basics on arrival. We took a trip into town on our second day and shopped for enough food for a few days at the local supermarket, and more importantly the fresh food market in town, which is cheap, with amazing fresh fruit and veg.
There was no BBQ on the first evening, so we asked the wonderful Zilo and he arranged one for us.
There are two resorts within walking distance via the beach or road close by should you not want to cook for yourself, that have nice meals at a not bad price.
Coco beach resort also has a water taxi into vila should you want to go into town. Otherwise Zilo will call you a taxi, just make sure that you order it earlyish.
The grounds and pool area are quite lovely, and the beach sublime. The snorkelling is really good and accessible, and the coral is regrowing, with HEAPS of fish around! (Kerry even saw a lion fish!)
The units themselves are clean modern and well maintained.
The road to Angel Fish is in poor condition, and it is a long way out of Vila, which suited us! However the one day trip we did, we were still picked up and returned to the resort with no additional charge.
If you want a holiday that is quiet, with a beautiful position, then this is the place for you. We have been to Efate many times, so this suited us down to the ground. We weren't interested in wandering around the shops or eating out in town.
Angel Fish Cove Villas is one of the best places that we have stayed in our numerous visits. Planning our next trip already!

We were intitially a bit disappointed when we booked Angelfish cove villa's. We had booked it as a Mystery Hotel on Wotif and it was described in Port Vila. The location is actually a good 10 minutes out of town at the end of a very quiet road.
Having said that once we got there we had a very pleasant stay and were sorry to leave. On the plus side for us was
* the villas are lovely, near new, airconditioned for humid weather and well set up with inside and patio furniture. The Kitched is basic with a microwave and two burner cooktop for cooking.
* We had a great shower in our villa - honestly the best shower I have had for ages!!!
* the grounds are lovely, vey tropical feeling and a nice pool in the centre
* a nice coral and sand beach out the front
* Kyaks provided and a good protected coastline to paddele out the front
* if you go about 80m off the beach to where the reef drops off there is good snorkelling with a lot of reef fish - it gets better as you continue NW along the beach.

A few things to bear in mind
* there are no local shops (within walking distance) so bring provisions or plan to do a provisioning run
* there is not much info in the villas other than tour brouchures - could benefit from some info on whats around the immediate area, info on local health services, doctors, what to do in case of fire etc.
* The villa managers were happy to arrange a bus anytime we wanted it and they would pick up and return to. We used it to town, to Hideway, airport etc and it was never a problem.
* There are two restuarants close - we ate at both but they are not cheap. Nirvana which is 100m away - food was great @ about $25 each, and Paradise Cove - location was much prettier but food was not as nice (IMHO) @ about $30 each.

I would sum up Angelfish as a great value, very nice place.

The water views beckoned us down to the beach, where we sat on the sand under a shady tree and watched the tide come in. It was the perfect way to transition. We explored the coral pools abundant with fish and crabs and then headed to the large swimming pool, to cool off and stretch the kinks out of our overworked bodies, as we submitted to island serenity. Activities include poolside relaxation, snorkelling, sailing and kayaking.

1 - 3 bedroom villas with charming palm thatched rooftops, kitchen, some with plunge pools and all air-conditioned. I loved the bathrooms with pebble accents, monsoon shower heads and destination spa feel. Timber louvered shutters kept out the tropical sun til we were ready to greet the world. Each villa is furnished with a practical yet luxurious beach charm.

Answer from Michelle H

There is no regular bus service but a lot of private buses run. We walked along the road past Paradise Cove and a bus came by. Speak to the on site manager and I am sure he will give you good advice on how to catch the buses.
