By hotel standards internationally, this place is wildly over priced. Old rooms, not overly clean. Only one restaurant operating during my stay, meal choices were limited and arrived at table cold. Curious how far away the kitchen is from the dining room.

Security/porter walked me to my room and seemed to begrudge having to do so. Safety issues were a concern when I saw how many security staff were present. Room door didnt lock properly, it looked like it had been forcefully opened too many times. Solid metal bars on window. Still not thrilled with the amount of drunken people who tried to get into my room throughout the night, big party scene for locals, and a bit of a rough environment to be honest. Reception staff weren't particularly helpful or friendly. They even seemed to be put out when I asked any questions.

I would not recommend this hotel if you're looking for an actual hotel (by international standards). But this is Honiara, you're going to pay way too much no matter where you stay. I would suggest avoiding Honiara all together unless you have to stop over on the way to somewhere else. Hopefully this hotel has scheduled some massive renovations and that's why they charge so much.

End on a positive note: Caesar the hotel airport shuttle driver was awesome. Friendly and informative, whatever you're paying him is not enough.

The building is old and tired, probably needs to be gutted and rebuilt. Rooms and fittings are barely satisfactory . . .and I suspect some are not habitable.

Carpets and the whole place stink of cigarette smoke.

Bars and restaurants are 1960's vintage and just Ok. Staff are operating on ancient service models which involves active withholding of information, and offering service only when persistent enquiry is made.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, budget comfort but good value for money long term. Ask for rooms along water which are newer and are fully tiled, have separate lounge rooms, and overlook ocean. Restaurant has great meals at cost.

Stayed at Pacific Casino Hotel for business for several weeks, as I was on a tight budget. Good food, good pool, good internet, and reasonable price per night, and the taxi cabs to town were always prompt and low cost. The place was burnt by rioters a few years ago, and after rebuilding the owners painted the outside the same ghastly salmon colour as before. The rooms to seek are upstairs facing the sea. Ground floor rooms are Smokers Last World haven - and really if you stay in one of these it is not necessary to smoke because what you breathe will do. Everything about the hotel is like an old fashioned Australian pub i.e. corridors and stairs are like a russian cruise liner - noise from the bar is there but not tooo bad - the food is huge portions and good at each meal. The full breafast would certainly be a farmers friend for size and it is all freshh cooked no tired 'ban marie' items at all. The Front desk rules are that the full amount for the stay must be paid in advance, even if using a credit card, and if you want to charge hotel services to the room, another small administrative hurdle must be gone through. The descriptor heading this review is wrong - the hotel has been fully open for business for over a year. Overall, everything needed is there with a smile - laundry - phone - room service - and The Pacific Casino Hotel is a place that is relaxed and where the hotel guest need not perform like a movie star to feel accepted - sure the Restaurant has non stop Christian music, but my room had a nie sea view and a quiet airconditioner and the power stayed on all the time and the hot water was really plentiful in the shower (after I removed the scale from the shower head with my small pointy scissors). I would stay there again, for its cheerful unpretentiousness and low cost - it wouldnt suit people who want a luxury holiday in a dream hotel but it was "what you see is what you get".

Liked this hotel the best out of the 4 that I saw in Honiara.
Went to Mendana, Honiara Hotel and King Solomon Hotel and the facilities at Pacific Casino were better than anywhere else. Despite being a little way from town (5kms) I was impressed by their rooms, restaurants and the casino.

The good; air conditioning worked well, the television was great but the reception of channels was constantly unwatchable, the laundry service was good and reasonably priced, the pool was good.

The Bad; Poor service and incompetent reception staff who were lazy and unhelpful, WIFI is free but the signal is quite bad and very frustrating if using for work, the room was dirty, I watched a dirty mark on the wall near the toilet roll for the entire time of my stay and it is still there now, the restaurant is OK but the food is very expensive and not worth the money, the sunday I was there the hotel ran out of water which meant no flushing, no showers no hand washing the staff seemed unwilling to help sort it out. reception staff lazy and poorly trained. Noise from fishing ships in the harbour is very loud and disrupted my sleep on many nights, OVERPRICED HOTEL, AVOID IF POSSIBLE, WILL BE GLAD TO LEAVE!!!!!

We stayed just one night at the Pacific Casino Hotel. It was a very unpleasant experience. The hotel is tired & worn out in every respect. The shower & bathroom in general was dirty & moldy. The entire hotel had the lingering smell of smoke & in one room we were offered the smell of smoke was so strong that we rejected the room. We were not confident that the bed sheets were actually fresh??? Who knows???
The one redeeming factor was that the staff were very willing & accommodating in trying to help us find a reasonable room. I would say that even the room we stayed in was well below reasonable.
It's unfortunate that the owners aren't in tune with what a nice clean, neat & pleasant hotel is!

Firstly, restaurant staff are lovely and despite the language barrier they will assist you where possible. That is when you can get over how expensive food & drink is there.
We stayed here twice - the first time we explained at check in that we needed WIFI access and were told that we needed one of the more expensive rooms facing the pool/ocean as those room offer complimentary WIFI. This worked for 4 hours, then when we woke up in the morning the web page was asking for a voucher code. We approached Reception and were told that the 'free' internet was down because of the rain(!) "Ok can you give s a free voucher then?" was our question to which we were told a tall tale that the internet company hadn't supplied the hotel with vouchers. We walked away frustrated, but this feeling quickly turned to annoyance when our colleague told us they had purchased a voucher from the same receptionist 5 mins before we spoke to her.
So aggravated at being lied to, we were no longer forgiving of the hotel's short comings.
- rooms are a lottery when it comes to what they smell of. You can get cigar/cigarette smoke or urine in the raffle. Of if you are very lucky, you can get a combination of the two. Also note that you cannot open the windows to air out you room.
- the towels must be 10 years old. They are so old an worn that they are almost see through.
- our colleague left some food in his fridge that went missing in a room change. The Reception staff were very quick to tell us of their system or logging all 'lost property', however when we said it was cheese brought from Australia (you cannot buy cheese in Honiara) the Receptionist simply smiled at us in response. Someone obviously got a good feed out of us!
- guests and hotel staff do not appear to be aware of the volume level that carries into your room at all hours. Infact they don't actually care.

The final hurrah from this joke of a hospitality establishment was when checking out we wanted to change our leftover Honiara dollar as to another currency. Standing by the sign that boasts 24hr money exchange, the Receptionist advised us that the person who deals with that was on a day off, so we couldn't exchange our money on check out.

We had asked to speak to the manager after the WIFI saga, and were told to wait in the Restaurant. That was fine because we were going for breakfast....but he never did show up despite us spending 6 hours sat her doing paperwork throughout the day!

I would also add that the photographer they got to supply photos for their marketing did a great job! The hotel is dirty, old, run down and falling apart, but the photos make it look exotic and pristine.
