Hotel Le Lagon is like a family run French auberge - but with a Pacific touch. If you are looking for a resort hotel with a large swimming pool, and all day dining restaurants - then Le Lagon isn't for you. However, if you are like me, and prefer more intimate surroundings, then Le Lagon is a perfect choice in Noumea. The reception is very friendly (and bilingual), the lift is quick and efficient, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the little Pacific touches (prints and other small references here and there) give it a unique flavour. The breakfast room allows you to take a traditional French breakfast, or a larger buffet. If you prefer, two patisseries are in easy walking distance. I took an upgraded room option that provided a living area, a small table and a kitchenette in addition to the bedroom. It was on the interior of the hotel with a view to the pool and well worth the extra. The rooms facing the road do pick up some noise. The bed was supremely comfortable with a pillow top on the mattress. A bonus for me was Australia TV that allowed me to watch the news and the AFL finals! Le Lagon is a short stroll away from the Anse Vata restaurant strip (and beach), but far enough away to dispense with any nightclub noise. Noumea tourist restaurants are not cheap ... but with a small French breakfast, and lunch purchased from either of the two Asian owned supermarkets nearby, it doesn't hurt so much paying $15AUD for a small beer on the strip. The trade off for the high prices is that Noumea isn't overrun with tourists - making it a breath of fresh air after Bali or Noosa. I had a wonderful time in Noumea and Le Lagon was an integral part of that experience.

Our second stay and as good as the first nine years ago. The rooms are small compared with other places we stayed being more European in size, but what they may lack in size is more than made up in terms of service and quality of the room. Not apparently linked to any chain, this is a stand-alone hotel that stands head and shoulders above its neighbours, with its own charm, and obvious and well-deserved pride.
The rooms were clean and all the equipment serviced and functional. Even the plugs in the handbasins worked – something that most plugs in hotels fail to do. A nice touch is the hotel’s logo and colours embroidered in the linen, on the crockery and uniforms.
The hotel provides breakfast in its own restaurant which is probably is one of the best in New Caledonia. The small risotto potato cakes were excellent.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful on finding a few things in the area that we were after.
The hotel is about 200 metres from the beach on Rue de l’Anse Vata and really close to the restaurants and cafés on the beachfront. Time spent in the cafes or on the beach really gets you into the Noumea vibe.
We really like this place and its discrete levels of service. We can’t think of staying anywhere else both for location and quality of stay.

Hello and thank you for your comment and your loyalty. What a joy for us to offer you a stay 9 years later still up to your expectations. We have constantly improved our establishment and its services, we have created new suites with private SPA POOL, offered unlimited high speed internet, changed our mattresses and bed linen, created new relaxation areas, and reinforced our commitment to sustainable tourism by offering a buffet with local colours and without waste. A big thank you

Excellent cuisine, pleasant surroundings and very welcoming staff. We had a most enjoyable time as a family. The staff is attentive, comes to see you to ask if everything is going well, the dishes are regularly refilled when we came for an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast

It's functional, the location is good, and the front desk staff are kind. The room is equipped with a microwave and other cooking utensils, so it looks like you can cook your own meals. There is no supermarket nearby, but there is a small shop where you can buy small items. It's also conveniently close to the Ambasta bus stop. There is a stone steak restaurant next to the bus stop. The staff are thoughtful and will lend you an umbrella if it looks like it's going to rain, and they will also hold your belongings from the previous night for you. Since the flight is late at night, I asked for a late check-out on the day, and it was more reasonable than the tour company.

◆Good location About a 3-minute walk to the beach There are many restaurants along the beach. If you walk in the opposite direction from the beach, you will find a delicious bakery, grocery store, and pharmacy that are open early in the morning, about 1 minute away. (As an aside, I bought some French cosmetics as souvenirs at the pharmacy. They were cheaper than what I could buy in Japan.)
◆You could see a little of the ocean from the balcony of my room (4th floor) (on the road side).
◆The room is well equipped There is a small sink and plates, cutlery, knives, etc. are provided, so it looks like you can do some cooking. There is also a microwave.

Very classy on Trip and probably a little overrated: standard room (street view with work) with balcony which is not of much use given the environment; small room with a good level of equipment which allows you to have a little “dinette”. The swimming pool (too small) is heated as indicated in the brochures but not very practical in the wind (it is in the shade 3/4 of the day). Reception a little outdated (payment collected on the 1st day of the stay - trust reigns? - and not validated in the internal system on the last day..) therefore correct but must do better to obtain 4 stars (for the rainbow shuttles prefer the AEC website it will be cheaper..)

Big thank you to the team at Hotel Le Lagon during my recent stay. A big thank you to the team at Hôtel Le Lagon during my recent stay.
I would like personally to say thank you to the owners for their understanding during the situation in May 2024. There was no question of concerns about extending my stay and they ensured that we had all the recent communications for information. Even with reduced staff, they made sure that breakfast was available and supplies were provided when requested. Pension on TOP! Caring hotelier (especially Grizelda), cleaning service and always cleaning in a good mood, the food service is very complete, enough to satisfy everyone. As for the rooms, they are very clean, well maintained, typical seaside decor. I recommend! 😁

We enjoyed our stay at the Le Lagon, despite the variable weather and (as we knew in advance) the Noumea beaches being closed to swimmers. The hotel has the advantage of a small heated pool, gym/sauna, very friendly and informative staff (worth some double checks on details) and the suite we had at the back was comfortable and quiet - important since there were road works at the front. Rather than use their breakfasts we found the excellent patisseries shop round the corner and the hotel is also very close to a range of restaurants and to car hire locations at Anse Vata.

Our final night in New Caledonia was spent at the Le Lagon in Noumea. We thought the location was super, just a very short walk to the beach and to a large number of great little cafes and restaurants. We also liked that the hotel had bicycles for rent right out front and we grabbed a couple for a great ride along the Noumea coastal cycleways. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and check-in and check-out were a breeze. Our room on the 3rd floor was nice but a bit on the small side, felt a bit claustrophobic at times. The bathroom was also quite small, however everything was clean and comfortable. The hotel is definitely starting to show some wear and tear and will need some renovations soon. We had a nice little balcony with a couple of chairs but no real view to speak of. The TV, AC, and Wifi all worked well. We were a little upset that we had to pay extra to park our car in the car lot. You’d think that being guests of the hotel, we’d have free parking. Very strange way to welcome your guests! There was a small pool and a little fitness center which looked a bit tired but reasonably equipped. Overall we had a really nice stay and would recommend it to other travellers.

Hello,
We do have bathrobes in our room located on the garden side of the establishment.
Otherwise we have a package with two bathrobes, slippers, coffee machine and two bottles of water for an extra cost of 3 000 xpf.
Kindly,
Caroline - Reception manager
Sorry saw some kids enjoying the jacuzzi with their parents but don’t know about a particular club. Check with the hotel directly, they also offer a short boat trip to the little island in front which could be fun for an 11 year old
Good morning balasubra,
I do think the best would be to rent a car with GPS to avoid the hassle of bying a sim card. Or you could also preload the maps.
For the parking, we do have free off street parking free of charge or we also have a car park closed and secured for 1007XPF per night. You will need to book this in advance.
Do not hesitate to contact us on resa@lelagon.nc for any enquiry.

There are more places to choose from in the Noumea area.
