Detailed Reviews

This "hotel" is in the worst condition I have ever seen in civilisation. All of the over-the-water units were out of action due to disrepair yet they were still on the brochures and poster in town. The beach is horrible and the whole place looks like a ghost town. It must have been a lovely place 30 years ago but now it should be pulled down.

We have just come back from an idyllic morning and lunch at Kuendu Beach Resort. What a find. So quiet, sheltered, relaxed and not too far off the beaten track. Sure there were dogs roaming and the place could have done with a good tidy up - but this is the South Pacific! We had lunch at the Resort - magnifique, one of the our most memorable meals in Noumea this time. Will be back Friday for another morning in the sea and lunch at the Resort.

We stayed at the Resort for 7 days in Dec 14. The hotel is not old, it is falling apart ,should be closed; aircon & internet did not work; dirty microwave and cockroaches, stray cats & dogs or phones.

We were given a superb over the water bungalow the first night then went into a thatched chalet for the rest of our stay (listen to the geckos chirping in the thatch at night). The Kuendu Resort cover many acres of park like grounds. The immediate beach leaves something to desire but a good swimming beach is a short walk away. We had a breakfast deal for our trip but found the prices for meals in the restaurant were very expensive. The resort is a 10 to 15 minute drive to Noumea and once you return you are "at the beach again". The resort is situated on the DRY side of the island which is what we were looking for.

We stayed in the resort for 9 days over Xmas 2014 and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had heard conflicting reports about Noumea and did not know what to expect. The resort is older, but the bungalows are more than adequate (airconditioned). We had a bungalow right near the beach and could go and float in the lagoon only metres from our door or watch the sunset every night. We hired a car which is essential, otherwise you rely on buses. We went to the market and supermarche in Noumea every few days, but found the centre of Noumea very busy and we were happy to return to our quiet, peaceful resort. The staff were friendly, but not intrusive. We went to the tourist strip in Baie de Citron on Xmas Day for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at a large Tapas restaurant and bar. Very busy area and we were glad we did not stay there, the beach was packed - at Kuendu Beach we virtually had the beach to ourselves most of the time. However, there was a public beach next to our resort if we wanted to join the crowd. The resort was reasonably prices and we found Noumea itself not too expensive, we took $1,000 aud worth of francs in cash and didn't spend it all! Would definitely recommend this resort and would go again.
