About Us: LA COLINA Hotel Cottage is an eco-sustainable boutique located in a set of country houses, probably the only one of its kind in the northwest of Bogota. Tucked amid the forest reserve of "Hills of Suba". Five double rooms where space is dominated by a remarkable decoration characterized by works of art, painting and sculpture. Each room has a beautiful view towards gardens or private patios; the stone floor of black slate from the Andeans mountains is beautiful and preserves encrusted animal fossils. The beds have anti-allergic blankets or down comforters and 400 thread count sheets of white cotton providing a soft, quiet rest and intimate welcoming atmosphere. Our Commitment: We are a boutique hotel committed to the environment, which offers a unique experience where accommodation is just an excuse to wake up embraced by the colour, the beauty and pleasure of aesthetics; these, framed by art, nature, good food and a warm service.

Very nice Hotel with beautiful view. Even if your in the middle of Bogoto the surrounding let you forget that. It's a family business which you can feel from the moment you arrive because of the warm welcome. Breakfast and Dinner are excellent - never had such a nice variation of breakfast served to me. The hotel owner has a lot of good tips what to explore in Bogota. I will keep this stay in my heart forever and i wish all the best to you and your family for your beautiful hotel. P.s. yes i am the one who travelled with the friend who brought a coffee machine to colombia

Hotel's Favourite
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying for five nights in this family-run boutique hotel. When we are traveling, we normally rent an apartment in the city center. However, we are both very happy that we made an exception in this case. The five nights during which we stayed here were our first nights in Colombia. La Colina is a beautiful and peaceful place, and was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge after a day of exploring Bogotá or the surrounding area, while adjusting to the time zone and the altitude. We were made to feel welcome from the moment that we arrived. It was wonderful to dine, relax, chat and drink wine amongst the art work created by Federico’s father and brother. It was even better, truly an honor and a privilege, to get to know Federico and his mother Marta. In addition to being kind and welcoming people, they are refined and well-educated. We had many interesting conversations with them and, by the end of our stay, had become quite attached to both of them.

Stayed 3 nights at this well-run, pleasant & comfortable little boutique hotel. Rooms are homey, breakfast is excellent, dinner is awesome (maybe best ceviche in town). Owner Federico is a very obliging guy & a living encyclopedia Bogota and Columbia mentioned. Some of his tips and hints helped us a lot during our Columbia- trip. And as he is a foodie- he and his wife know all the great restaurants in Cali, Medellin, Cartagena, ......... These were the pros. But there are 2 cons as well. La Colina Hotel is more or less part of the approach path of Bogota airport. And Bogota airport is a busy one. So aircraft noise starts at about 5:00 a.m. and lasts till late night. La Colina hotel is the middle of nowhere & the closest Transmilenio- stop is about 15 to 20min walk away. So a taxi would be a good idea. But Federico doesn´t trust in regular yellow cab- drivers & has a cooperation with a very special & very expensive (compared with regular columbian taxi fees) carrier . So you just have the choice between walking or using the expensive carrier .......... During our next stops in Bogota we stayed at "The Orchid´s" in La Candelaria- and our stays there were more convenient.

Dear Josef, Thank you for your warm words about my wife and me. Also about the quality of our restaurant and the hotel. About the cons let me say a couple of things. first we are located in the north-west side of the city, in the path for all the planes leaving to any destination north of Bogota. But unfortunately the air routes cross all over the city, so if you decide to stay in the south, east or west it will be the same. So regardless of the area you stay in Bogota you will have air traffic on top of your head. its a problem of the entire city, not us. And second, about location of the hotel and transportation, you are absolutely right, we are located in the middle of nowhere, in the hills of suba. In the middle of a forest reserve. The name of the hotel says it all (LA COLINA, means literally The Hill), so there should be no surprises about where you are coming to. And about transportation from here, you are again right I don´t trust at all the regular taxis 🚖 of Bogota, they are not safe or reliable (so many problems along the years have given me that knowledge) and Im not going to risk the security of my clients so they can save a couple of dollars. An airport shuttle with us is aprox 30-35 USD, and a trip to downtown is aprox 25 USD. Both are absolutely rational prices for the VIP service we offer. Bogota is one of the biggest cities in the world, is bigger than London. So crossing the city for that price is not a bad thing Best, Federico

As usual, another wonderful experience! Federico, his wife and all the staff are to be complimented for such detail in service to their customers! The food... breakfast, lunch and dinner if you so choose is an awesome delight! A great nights sleep on a comfortable bed is always appreciated. The attention to any detail you have need for is communicated very well. Being removed from the downtown or airport areas is not a problem with excellent transportation offerings to anywhere is immediately available and all are handled expertly by hotel staff. Thank you for a rich experience and you have my commitment to stay with you again.

I must admit that my first experience on landing in La Colina was a bit of unease due to 45 minute drive from airport in chaotic Bogota traffic- and location in suburbs seemingly far from everything. However our 3 day stay convinced me and importantly my family that it was the best decision we made - especially for first trip to Bogota/Colombia. We were looking for more of hand-holding and advise on how to plan the trip esp in light of some issues with safety of hailing taxis and no uber and learn about the country and culture. The hotel rooms reflect warm and friendly environment , environmentally sensitive considerations (great use of sunlight), expertise in art and scuplture of Federicko's family and comfortable sleeping areas. Flexibility to use the kitchen or request a specific preparation was extremely handy. All the staff had smiles on their faces all the time. Federicko did not just arrange transportation for us - but kept a track which provided peace of mind. In couple of instances when we left some valuables in the car or needed a car to carry luggage from hotel- pick us up from downtown and drop at airport ; it was efficiently coordinated by him. I cannot imagine if it could have been managed if we were staying in a normal hotel. Essentially you cannot go wrong with La Colina if you are looking for more a family stay with peace of mind.

My dear, You can't imagine how comforting and enjoyable it is to read this generous comment of yours. It was an absolute pleasure for us to have you with your whole family at La Colina. Without a doubt, you are the type of guest that we love to serve. A nice family, very respectful and with very good family values. Always putting respect first. That for us is invaluable. Although we are only 14 klm from the airport, in rush hour it can take up to 45 min to arrive. But as you may have realized, it is worth staying in this little country oasis hidden in the middle of the city. Bogota is very chaotic and frenzied, but fortunately you can't feel it here. For us it is not a problem to organize all transport within Bogota, we even do it throughout Colombia with the same ease. We hope to see you again very soon. Don't forget the way back to La Colina. a hug Frederick
