I was staying in the hotel for 2 weeks and in general I liked it there. First what I want to mention, the hotel is pet friendly as all NH hotels are. I have 2 cats, and I did not have to pay any fee for them. Also the price I paid for my suite (best type of room the hotel has) per night was reasonable (approx. $95 per night). The hotel’s location is really nice. First of all, the area where the hotel is located (Chico – La Cabrera in Chapinero) is safe and super clean. There are a lot of nice and different shops and restaurants around, also the big Andino Mall is across the street. Uber is super cheap in Bogota, so if you want to take it, for example, to La Concordia area (Old Bogota) or Monserrate, it would cost you like $3-4, and the ride would usually take around 20 min. Yes, I would definitely recommend the Chapinero area for accommodations in Bogota. So about the hotel. It looks pretty remodeled, but at the same time basic. Hotel’s lobby is small, there is a little restaurant next to it. I had breakfast there twice (they were included in the price I paid), and food was good for breakfast. Once I ordered room service from this restaurant. The menu was small, I chose Spaghetti Bolognese. Finally I did not like it, the pasta was dry and sauce tasted weird, kind of sweet. After that I never ordered food from there anymore. I liked the front desk staff. All the guys were friendly, nice and helpful. Especially Philippe! Say HI to this guy, he is the best! Hotel’s elevators were super small and kind of slow, I did not like them. Also the big minus in the lobby was the Christmas tree! It was decorated absolutely terrible! I hated it every single time when I walked into the lobby. The good news about the lobby and the rest of the hotel is everything was perfectly clean all the time. Also next to the elevators they had a space with free face masks, gloves and antibacterial gel – a big plus nowadays! Now about my room. Originally I booked a Family Room. It seemed big and nice on the photos on the hotel’s Web-Site. The reality was pretty sad. The room was super tiny and kind of crappy looking. So what happened was on the Web-Site they used photos of the Suite Type for Family Room Type which is obviously not the right thing to do to lie to the customer. Anyway, I could not deal with that room and upgraded myself to the Suite. The Suite was pretty big. It had a big Living Room with a small balcony, and a separate Bedroom which size was okay, but could be bigger to feel more comfortable. The bathroom belongs to the bedroom, and its size was super small. Basically the toilet was next to the shower, which I did not like at all. Also the sink was designed weird. When I turned on the water, the water hit the angled stone sink and splashed all over the floor. I also did not like the bathroom amenities. In general all NH Hotels have exactly the same line, same scents. And I do not really like this line, smells okay but kind of cheap, and looses its scent right away after the shower. The negative thing about the bedroom was the bed’s size which was a Queen. The bed was tiny for two people. What was funny was that my original Family Room had a big comfortable King Bed. Why would they not put a King Bed to the Suite!? I have no idea! Also the fake leather part of the bed was full of scratches. Not nice to see! Also I want to point out that the safe in my room did not work. The sofa in the living room was kind of small and uncomfortable, and it felt dusty. The refrigerator in my room was super small. I also did not like that there was no toilet brush. By the way, all NH Hotels do not put toilet brushes into the rooms for some reason. I find it cheap. Also the trash cans in all parts of the room were super small and did not open when I stepped on them, I had to open them all with my hands. In general, I did not really like my room’s design. Room was full of dark brown/grey colors (my original Family Room had same style and coloring, by the way), and it always put me into a sleepy mood. Wi-Fi was working fast all the time. Also housekeeping did a really nice job with cleaning every single time. I liked that the hotel has a gym on the top floor and a rooftop area where you can chill. Even with some shortcomings, I would still recommend this hotel for accommodations. For the price that was available when I booked it, this hotel is a good option when visiting Bogota. But is it 5-star level? Definitely NOT! Hotel name contains “Royal”, but there is absolutely nothing royal there. I would say that the hotel barely hits 4-stars. So if you want to book it thinking you are going to have the best quality, please, note that you will not and do not be disappointed when you check-in.

The staff is very friendly and professional. Other than that I have little positive to say about the hotel. 1) When we checked in we were told that due to COVID, so that we did not have to go the breakfast buffet, room service breakfast would be delivered at no additional cost. Great! But when we actually ordered breakfast, we were told that was no longer the policy because the hotel was too busy. NO HOTEL SHOULD SEND PEOPLE TO EAT AT A SMALL INDOOR DINING SPACE. This is among the highest risk activities for transmission of COVID. (After we protested that we had been told the policy was free room servce for breakfast, we were not charged, but for the first day only.) 2) It is extremely noisy at night due to revelry from Zona T, which is a block away. The noise lasted until 3 am. I could not sleep the entire night and greatly regretted leaving my earplugs at home. 3) The room was adequate but far from what you would expect for a 5 star hotel. There was nowhere to sit in the room other than a desk chair and a small one-person soft chair, there was no table or desk apart from a shelf on one side of the room, the pillow were cheap and uncomfortable polyester, and the leather from the bed's head board was ripped and peeling off, so that there were pieces of old leather on the bed. On the same trip we stayed in a different hotel that was rated 3 stars but was substantially nicer in all respects.
