Stayed at January 2015. Great location - just off Illampu Street, near to Santa Cruz Street. Approx. 10 min walk to San Francisco Church. Mini shop and casual restaurants nearby.
Room is clean and decent, hot water is working fine. No heater but it was not that problem for me. I am able to manage when I sleep at the night. Area is quiet at the night so you can sleep well.
Breakfast - as someone already mentioned - not much to expect but just basics.
The best of all is the view from rooftop -AMAZING - both day and night.

We initially booked with las brisas but was moved her due to a water leakage with our room. The hotel is quite old and the rooms are very old and feels a bit dirty. However the staff are exceptional and will go out of their way to help you despite unable to speak English. Google Translate helps heaps. We blocked out toilet because we didn't realise we weren't meant to flush toilet paper down. The hotel was willing to change our rooms which was amazing.

The breakfast was quite limited with bread, fruits and jam and butter. For the cost it's not too bad and the location is pretty decent, quite central. The Wi-Fi is quite strong so you don't have to worry about it that either.

It's still quite loud but I don't have trouble with noise.

Tested ''Hotel Diamante Azul'' for one night.
Well appointed room but unfortunately poorly insulated, therefore noisy (we could hear conversations from reception) and the lights from the elevator passed through our window and the curtains.
Well located accommodation with many restaurants nearby and streets to visit (Linares...)
Very pleasant staff
Good Wi-Fi connection

Basic but clean, comfortable and well located hotel. All the staff were good, but Cielo at reception went above and beyond: she always helped us with our multiple questions, gave us good recommendations and always with a smile on her face!!!

When in La Paz we usually stay in Sol Andino, but when this place was full upon arrival we decided to go to Diamante Azul across the street. We ended up paying 250Bs for a tiny room without windows (it was clean however, I must admit that) and the breakfast was very limited with old bread.

Besides that the service was just plain terrible. We made a deal that we would stay here for the price mentioned above, only if we could check out at 5pm the following day since we had to take a nightbus. This was all good until the next day where they tried to get us out of that room several times and kept on trying to make us pay more, for the room and later on also for the breakfast which was already included, even though we were literally the only guests staying here.

Therefore I'd advice you to just stay across the street you only pay 160Bs for a significantly bigger and nicer room, with lovely service and great breakfast. I'd definitely not recommend this place.

We stayed here a year ago and bargained for a lower rate where we didn't get the free breakfast. For that first stay, the WiFi was spotty, but other than that it was okay, the room was clean and we were given a heater to use in our room during our stay.

We ended up staying here again when we showed up in La Paz without a reservation and were unable to find something else reasonable with heat and WiFi in the same neighborhood. For our last stay we also bargained for a lower rate and got 10 bolivianos off the price per night for 4 nights and paid for the entire stay up front. We rarely tried the WiFi but it worked when we did. The room was clean and comfortable.

We asked for a heater upon arrival and it was promised to us, but we were told we needed to wait until later when the owner arrived with the key to the room with the heaters. We went to bed early that night and never heard anything. The next day we asked again about the heater. We again were told that we could get it that night. Again, no heater. The next night, finally, we saw the owner and he brought a heater to our room. He plugged it in and it didn't work. He went to find another and apparently there was no other. He promised to have a technician fix the broken heater the next day. Nothing was ever fixed, we never got a working heater.

The breakfast "buffet" consisted of old bananas, a few rolls, a few slices of ham, some cereal, some flavored yogurt, cheese, butter, jelly, milk and orange juice. They were very stingy with the breakfast, only putting out a few rolls, a little meat and cheese at a time. So we had a little to eat, and then when we were almost finished with breakfast and another couple showed up, the new customers had to ask for more rolls to be put out. The workers guarded the remaining rolls in a basket which they kept at their own table where they socialized.

The bathrooms off the breakfast area had no toilet paper or soap. The third morning while eating breakfast, I noticed the lady who served up breakfast go use the bathroom, and was a little grossed out, because she was serving breakfast and I knew there was no soap in the bathroom.

My disgust with the breakfast server's hygeine practices intensified on our final morning. There was no ham and only a little milk that morning, so I asked for more milk and for ham. One of the workers left the hotel to buy milk and ham and arriived about 10-15 minutes later, while I waited for the ham to make my sandwiches. She arrived with a bag of milk and no ham, saying no stores were open with ham. Oh well. Then, while sitting there, waiting for more milk to be put out, I saw the server open the new bag of milk with her teeth! I didn't touch the half glass of milk already sitting in front of me, nor did I use any of the new milk in the pitcher! Gross!

Stayed total 3 nights. Breakfast isn't much tbh but at least they provide something :) there's no heating and room could be cold but the bed is pretty comfy.
Staff don't speak English but if you try to communicate, they are very helpful.
Location is awesome and there is a nice English pub nearby.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and it was terrible. The bathroom almost fell apart. The toilet fell over when you sat on it. There was water coming out of the joint of the shower head so the whole bathroom was wet when you showered. We payed to do our laundry and one piece was covered in nasty stains afterwards. I couldn't remove them. The location is horrible: in a dirty, dark street in a neighbourhoud where you don't want to walk around at night. The whole style of the hotel was ugly kitsch. Breakfast includes: nasty instant coffee, weeks old fruit, dry old bread, ...
