Detailed Reviews
The airport had recently opened and it showed. The scanning system for immigration appeared to be having teething problems as one had to make various attempts at scanning one's passport before being referred to an immigration officer. The waiting area had seats with plugs for charging phones but it turned out that these had not been connected, which was frustrating

Right, first off let me clarify as it is pretty confusing if you are thinking of booking - yes this used to be called Aerotel but it is no longer - it is now simply Abu Dhabi Airport Hotel. I couldn't figure out how to contact them directly or how to book directly, so i booked through booking.com. The trouble is you can only book between 8pm - 8am through booking.com. Not sure if others may have found a different way of booking. Lucky for me this was ok - I messaged them to say my exact times and they were fine with me staying 2am - 9.20am so they are flexible.
But yes, this hotel is still open and functioning Aug 2022. I paid New Zealand dollars $386 for 12 hours overnight booking.
The hotel is located in terminal 1 and easy to find; it is the only hotel located within transit, so you don't have to exit security to get to it which is why I stayed there. I landed in terminal 3, and it took about 10 minutes to walk there from terminal 3 (although I think terminal 2 is further away so check that if you are landing there).
I had 8.5-hour stopover, in and out of terminal 3 and my kids still got a solid 6.5 hours sleep, and we all got a shower etc, so there is plenty of time. It took me about an hour to get off the plane, through initial post-plane security and walk to the hotel with three kids in tow. I left the hotel with 1 hour to go before the flight took off (at the boarding time) as advised by the nice check-in lady at the hotel, and that was plenty of time so give yourself plenty of time to use the hotel.
The room itself was good - spacious, clean, lovely beds - got 2 double beds for me and the three kids. Provided tea and coffee, water bottles for all of us and plenty of toiletries (including toothbrushes and toothpaste).
I had 2 issues. This first was a biggie - terrible curtains! They had weird blinds that overlapped. Hard to describe but just useless - let so much light in so I couldn't sleep. Seems like such a basic requirement to have black-out curtains at an airport transit hotel!
The second issue was wake-up call was 10 mins late. Again, accurate wake-up calls seem pretty important in a transit hotel. Luckily I was awake anyway but be aware, and if I were you put on a couple of your own alarms.
I'd recommend it though and would stay again if I had a layover. Getting that bit of sleep when travelling (especially with kids) is priceless (although they have put a very expensive price on it!). No food or lounge access included FYI.
Also, be aware we were flying onto Australia, and they check bags again at the gate and you arent allowed any liquids so drink those water bottles provided before you get there! We ended up having to throw ours away which was so annoying.

We had a 11-hour layover at the airport and this hotel is the perfect transit hotel one could ask for.
Check-in was straightforward as we made a booking prior (PRO TIP: MUST reserve as they have limited rooms available, I’ve seen them turning away guests due to this reason).
The room itself was spacious, clean and had all the necessary amenities (high speed WIFI, towel, toiletries, complimentary mineral water and tea/coffee making facilities) with comfy beds and power shower.
The walls are quite thin as we could hear a crying child all night (in the next room) and sounds of planes landing/taking off as our room was facing the airport parking area.
Price wise it is a little pricey ($170+) having the chance to stretch, rest, shower and nap is priceless!
Nevertheless, I’d still highly recommend this hotel.

background, lived and worked in NA, Eur, Asia and ME for just over 25 years. Manilla airport is crap, but this place is fundamentally worse. Treating non-arab brown skinned people as second class citizens (I’m cdn), like an inconvenience, no better than a slave reflects the culture and racist entitlement endemic to this part of the world. feel bad for anyone that has to spend any too me here.

Terrible experience, the room air conditioning was not working, room was quite hot, Wi-Fi not working, we were called in the middle of the night our time is over though we still had two hours left. I would highly recommend the sleep zone rooms , rather than this hotel.
