Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The great - location. Short walk to the old city. The mediocre - service was, at best, mediocre. Food was mediocre. The bad - the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, and I've slept on Army cots and sleeping bags on the ground. Felt like rocks in the mattress. Actually slept on the floor, which was more comfortable than the best. Asked for another room and the bed was slightly better, which made it the second most uncomfortable bed I ever slept on.

Uggg. We stayed here begrudgingly for one night after they moved us out of our initial room due to visible mold. There was visible black mold in room 311 and also in the 3rd and 2nd floor hallways and the gym. The kitchen area in the basement, near the gym, was disgusting and we did not eat at the hotel restaurant. There was also blood on the chair in room 311. Experience Jordan put us up there and made us pay for our own rooms when we moved out - I wouldn't recommend them either. The gym wasn't very good, either, as most cardio machines didn't work. The front desk also lied to us and made us wait in the moldy room for 2.5 hours before they found us a new room.

My recent experience at the National Hotel was excellent. The room was comfortable, the rates reasonable and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. I'd like to recognize the phenomenal efforts of Hayat at the front desk. Her smile and genuine warmth each morning helped to make my day. She was helpful and represents the National Hotel very well. Thanks, Hayat, and all employees who made my stay so enjoyable.

We had a fridge confirmed beforehand, but didn't arrive until day 2 and only after 3 reminders. Dinner was 6.30-9 but on day 2 we arrived at 6.30 and food wasnt ready! Kitchen staff told us to come back at 8pm. Kids were hungry and 10 mins later food came out. Other guests had same issue. Room was a bit of a mess - house keeping came and did half a job, didn't clean the room properly and left no towels! TV was outdated and not working - although they fixed it straight away Shower door was loose which was a hazard but hotel sorted it. Best thing was the buffet style breakfast and dinner was good with plenty of choice In general the room needed some maintenance - missing spotlights, shower cubicle tray dirty, curtains need replacing Would avoid this hotel - was not good value for money

First, we were in the basement in a room that was not newly renovated. There was a strong mildew smell, and the rooms were secluded from the rest of the hotel. We then moved to the main hotel. The rooms are older and spartan, but the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is good, but it does not change. The front desk was helpful at times, but not everyone was helpful.

The pictures on their website are quiet deceiving , its nothing like it in reality , very dated ,the owner need's to start spending some money on the decor and carpets in the lobby, and get rid of those hidious plants in the upstairs dining area. The location is very noisy all throughout the day and night . I take my hat off to all the staff i give credit to them 100% , very very helpful ,thank you guys .

The hotel was great in so many ways, staff was friendly and helpful, room was great, took a minute to figure out you had to put your room key in slot to get power, comfortable bed and personal products were top notch Dead Sea products. Nice sitting area to plan your excursions and large windows. The restaurant was amazing, breakfast bar was loaded every morning with fresh everything, could have stayed there all morning, the view didn’t hurt either. Tamar was head and shoulders above in every area of service, and was at the restaurant most times we ate there. All meals were amazing. Best of all was only a few minutes walk from the Damascus Gate and anywhere in the old city or public transportation. Will stay here again and recommend to anyone. Thanks to everyone at the National.
