We stayed at EcoIstHan for a week with a large group. On arrival rooms were impeccably clean, the hosts were all so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time in Istanbul.
The locations is superb, cool little street with cozy coffee shop across the road. Highly recommend.

+1
I stayed as a solo traveller in EcoIsthan and i was very delighted each day of my stay. Sonay, the owner, is one of the best people i've met in all of my travels. Very down to earth and has a good advocacy with being green and caring for the earth. She made sure that i was alright the entire time and even served me free (very delicious) vegetarian food as they are testing out the new menu for their restaurant.
The rooms are as clean and bright as you see them in the photos. The beds are comfortable. Each room has been designed by Sonay herself as she is an architect in profession.
The location is just perfect! Literally 20 steps away Galata Tower, 5 mins walk to Istiklal Ave, 10 mins walk to Galata bridge. It's very central and easy to find.
A good and memorable gesture also is that Sonay gives a gift to her guests when they stay at EcoIsthan. What is the gift? It's for you to find out when you stay.
I highly recommend this for anyone who wants an affordable but very convenient accommodation.
I have not only stayed well in this good accommodation, but also gained a new friend in Sonay.
I will stay here again for sure.

We recently visited Istanbul with a large group of people and stayed at the EcolstHan hostel. First and foremost, our hosts were a couple of great, friendly guys who made our stay in Istanbul very pleasant. The hostel is located close to the Galata Tower and almost everything you might need during your trip. Restaurants, stores, tourist attractions, bars and more are all just a few minutes away. The rooms were clean and cozy and there's also a rooftop terrace with a nice view. The hostel also has a great selection of vegetarian food. The hostel is well suited for friends and family. This is a very pleasant, underrated place with great service at a reasonable price. I recommend EcolstHan to anyone thinking of travelling to Istanbul.

Staff was gracious and available, food was above and beyond, and the dorms were clean and comfortable. Without doubt, the time here was like a cherry with whipped cream on top for my stay in Istanbul!

We just happened to stumble upon this place on our way out of Karakoy and were so glad that we did! The food is amazing and HEALTHY which can be hard to find sometimes around Turkey. The staff members were extremely friendly and everything we ate was so good. I got the falafel plate with eggplant and zucchini falafel that came with a side salad and hummus and my husband got a falafel wrap and a latte with homemade peanut butter milk. We topped it all off with some vegan apple cinnamon muffins. We will definitely be back!

Very good vegan Food. Small Place, very Alternative and authentic. Cool People, small menu. Fresh Food, Smiling faces. Little chaotic atmosphere but friendly and good feeling. We did not stay in the hotel but we bumped in the restaurant and visited it again the day after.

I stayed here because i wanted to explore Galata area and this hostel is perfect for that if you dont mind walking up a hill. The beds were comfortable and exactly like photos. However the terrace is being renovated, the tables are now part of a cafe serving vegetarian food in the evening, and the picture with the two couches is now a make do office. Basically no common areas which did not bother me but i believe the pictures are misleading. The wi-fi was working perfectly.

It was not easy to find veg friendly food in Istanbul. While walking around we stumbled across ecoisthan and were sooooooo grateful and pleased. We have been there 2 nights in a row so far. They have a set daily menu and it is great. A little hard to find and yes, it is on top of a steep climb. 12 TL for the meal. Very good deal. Friendly staff/service.

We had a bit of trouble finding the hostel on our way into town but this was seriously was one of the BEST hostel experiences we have had during our travels. Lots of good vibes here with the owner treating you first as a friend and second as a client. Everyone who works here seems to be friends which makes eh experience even more welcoming. This street is our favorite in all of Istanbul with cute shops and located just around the corner from the Galata tower. Also, it is SOOOO reasonably priced. $17 USD per night, per person for a mixed bunk room...Breakfast can be purchased in the morning and is very reasonable (traditional Turkish breakfast, egg, bread, coffee). Loved loved loved our stay here.
