We stayed in the Yasmak Sultan in December 2021. This hotel is located very close to Gülhane metro stop, less than a minute's walk. It is also within easy walking distance of Sultanahmet (Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Basilica Cistern) and Eminönü (Golden Horn). There are a multitude of restaurants nearby particularly on İbni Kemal Cd. at the back of the hotel. The journey time from the new airport İstanbul Havalimanı (by taxi) was less than 1 hour. Returning to the airport took 35 minutes.

Reception was efficient although there are government COVID related documents to be completed on check-in. The reception area itself has plenty of seating as well as a bar area and a customer relations desk (concierge). The area is a handy meeting point before heading out.

The bedroom was equipped with a television, a fridge, a kettle and air conditioning. The en-suite also had a hair drier. It was very comfortable and even had a separate sofa.

We loved our stay in the hotel and it was nice that the room was cleaned regularly, and we received fresh bottled water every day. Through reception and customer relations (Nora) all our needs were dealt with. This included arranging PCR tests (which are completed in the hotel lobby in the morning, with same day results), arranging taxis and validated the Istanbul travel cards.

Breakfast is offered from 7am to 11am on the 6th floor and it has magnificent views across Istanbul from Hagia Sophia to the Golden Horn. There is a good variety of food from cereal to vegetables. Due to COVID restrictions, food is currently served to your plate by the hotel staff. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the endless coffees before setting out for the day.

I can thoroughly recommend the Yasmak Sultan. It offers a service way above its price range. All the staff, without exception, were friendly and exceedingly helpful. Nora (customer relations) went out of her way to make us feel welcome and deal with our endless requests. It was a very special 10 days in Istanbul.

My wife and I have a family home in Macedonia and we travel there once a year for a month or more. I doing so, we try to visit other places and surrounding countries like Turkey, Greece etc. In August of 2019 we decided to do a week in Turkey in Old Istanbul and visit all the historical places that Istanbul has to offer. We booked the Yasmak Sultan Hotel in Old Istanbul for that week and what a delight this hotel was. This is a 6 story hotel with a roof top restaurant in the heart of Old Istanbul . From that roof top restaurant you get an incredible view of the Ayasofya Museum and the always busy Bosperus River. The food and service in that restaurant was excellent. The hotel lobby was stunning and immaculately clean with a staff that was friendly, and instantly ready to help you with anything you asked them. They all spoke English and my wife speaks several languages so we did not have a problem with conversing with them. Our suite was called the Bezmialem Sultan #1104 and it was done in a "harem motif", that was a treat to stay in. The Yasmak Sultan Hotel is located in the central part of Old Istanbul and is walking distance to all the historical sites like the Grand Bazaar, Ayasofya, The Blue Mosque, The Palace,The Underground Cisterns, night life, the harbour, public transportation, etc The staff at the front desk gave us great advice on different tourist attractions and at one point they arranged for 2 personal tour guides for a walking tour (6 hours) and a personal guide for the Bosperus riverboat tour.I would recommend both of these types of tours because you eliminate all the long line ups and the guides were so knowledgeable, friendly and spoke perfect English. By the way, the Turkish languages is a very soft and easy to listen to language. It is nothing like the Arabic language I was expecting. When we left for Skopje Macedonia at 4.00am in the morning the hotel gave us box lunches for the trip to the airport, which was not asked for but greatly appreciated. This hotel is surrounded by the incredible history of Istanbul, the ambience of it's close knit neighborhoods and the never stopping water traffic of the Bosperus River. All of Istanbul's character is wrapped in a population of 16 to 21 million people. We were so impressed and will go back again.

.FYI: I took literally hundreds of photos while I was there. The only reason I have waited this long to do this review was due to a lengthy illness and for that I apologize.

It was our first visit to Istanbul, and I asked our travel agency to choose the best place to stay for three nights in this old city, to get the best possible impressions and memories of it. They suggested Yasmak Sultan Hotel, and it was the right choice, indeed. Here is why: Yasmak Sultan is not just an excellent hotel in terms of comfort, service, and the restaurant with great breakfasts and dinners, offering the nice views from its top floor panoramic location. Yasmak Sultan Hotel offers much more than that: it probably has the best location in the old city of Istanbul, for someone who visits the city for the first time. We have been to many places, and we know what does it mean. From Yasmak Sultan Hotel, in couple minutes walk, you get into the Topkapi parks and the fantastic Sultan’s Palace(s), which are the #1 attraction of Istanbul. Or, in 5 minutes walk you can see the most famous Ayasofia Mosque, and visit it even in the nighttime on your own because of a very safe location of Yasmak Sultan hotel near Topkapi and Aya Sophia. Also, from the Hotel you can walk (or take a couple minutes’ tram ride) to Galata Bridge with its open air seafood restaurants overlooking the Golden Horn and Bosporus, with dozens of ferries zooming around in the distance. We did it in the evening on the day of arrival, and it was worth the money, absolutely (see attached photo). Also, from Yasmak Sultan Hotel you are in a ten minutes walk right to the gate of a famous Egyptian Spice Bazaar (the must place to see in Istanbul), and further to famous Sulaymaniyah Mosque and to Grand Bazaar. Yasmak Sultan Hotel is also perfectly located for a Bosporus boat tour. Just take a tram ride (the tram stop is located in 2-min walk from the hotel door!) across the Galata Bridge, to Dolmabahce Palace (another must place to visit), and from there take a two hour boat ride on Bosporus!… Well, to cut the long story short, we were absolutely happy to stay at Yasmak Sultan Hotel, and we are glad to recommend it to visitors who come to Istanbul for sightseeing and relaxation, as we did.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and largely booked due to the reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel looks lovely when you enter the reception area, however, this all changed when we entered the room. As there were three of us, we had a three bed room, however, the room was so small we ended up almost tip-toeing around each other. The room was really too small for three beds, considering all the other hotels we stayed at in Istanbul were double or even triple the size. Also, the bathroom needed some TLC and refurbishment as the shower head was not working properly and the floor was mouldy and old.

The breakfast was good and had a variety of different dishes. They did have gluten free bread on request as one of us was gluten free which was pleasing. Juices and coffees were at an extra cost unlike other hotels for similar price levels. However, the food spread was well varied - not all foods are gluten free though so be careful if that is your position. However, what concerned us was that we saw the waiters actively speaking to their customers and asking them to write trip advisor reviews and include their name on the review (I assume that the waiters get a bonus for each review they get). I have no concerns with customers writing trip advisor reviews, but I am weary of staff actively pressuring customers to write positive reviews as this destroys the entire trip advisor experience.

Overall, an okay hotel - but for the price I would have preferred more space and a cleaner (and working) bathroom.

Dear Gabriele, We are deeply saddened with your comment and rating, that is why I wanted to give you an explanation. Regarding the room sizes, in the Historical Peninsula nearly all of the buildings are historical and for this reason the rooms are smaller when we compare with the other hotels in the other parts of Istanbul, also we have mentioned in our webpage size of our standard rooms and they are above average when we compare with the other hotels in this area. Sorry for not being able to meet your expectations during your stay. If you mentioned us about this, we would have helped you immediately. That is why it is very important for us to hear the problems during our guests stay so that we can provide a better stay to our guests. Also I regret you had an unpleasant experience during your breakfast. I want to inform you that we do not have any bonus system for tripadvisor comments. Our breakfast staff are working with us for long years and they are well known for their kindness to all our guests so you can be assured that there was no bad intentions. However, please accept my apology if their behavior bothered you. The experience you described is not characteristic of the level of service we strive to provide and I do apologize for this issue. We do not want you to remember us this way, if you are still in Istanbul, we would like you to give us a second chance to welcome you in our restaurant once again as our treat to prove that we can do better :) Best regards,

The hotel is in a great location, close to the Gulhane tram and also Sirkeci Marmary that can be used to cross the river and get to the Asian side of Istanbul.

It is a 5-10 minute walk to Sultanahmet, Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The area has great food options nearby.

Our initial room was way too small, we asked for an upgrade and paid extra. This was dealt with well.

Our new suite room was much better, with views of the mosque and far more spacious, but halfway through the stay there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom. It was mainly noticeable when you first enter, but it definitely needs sorting. I didn't bother mentioning it as we had already changed rooms once.

The breakfast was great, lots of options and stunning views of the city from the roof terrace. The breakfast options were great too. You can order certain cooked breakfasts like omelettes/fried eggs, waffles and pancakes made to order. We only realised this on our second day, it would be nice if there was someone there to explain that. Also I found it a bit difficult to order it, sometimes you just had to grab a member of staff and tell them. It would be nice if they came to your table and asked.

It's great that the hotel has a pool, but it's a shame they charge for things like the Sauna. I would think that should be included, it was 10 euros, which is quite a lot if your only going to use it for 10 minutes

The roof terrace is one of the highlights of the hotel, go there to enjoy a coffee or tea in the evenings.

Other than the bad initial room and the bathroom issue overall this was a really good hotel.

Would I come here again? - yes for sure

Just got back from 5 days at Yasmak Sultan and very happy with the experience.
We arrived late at night and the reception was very quick. (there is a decent restaurant just 50 yard away that is open really late if you arrive late just turn left out of the door and you will see it)
We had booked a suite and were in room 2503 on the rear corner (top floor) the room was large and had views of the Bosporus from two windows.
4 Wardrobes one with free mini safe and plenty of seating. Bed was very good.
The bathroom had both a separate shower and Jacuzzi bath with shower over. The room was spotless and was kept so throughout. please tip your cleaner as you go as we had the same brilliant guy everyday except for the checkout day so if we had tipped at the end the wrong person would have received it.
The location is superb, you can walk to most places and for everything else the tram system is literally 200 yards away and very easy to use via Istanbul Kart which you can buy and top up from the machine on the corner opposite, there are also around 15 Bank machines at the same spot.
We found it a very safe area to be walking around late at night.
The only (slight) let down was the breakfast service which was very hit & miss trying to order the items from the menu (gave up twice and just went with the buffet), but the breakfast was very good in general with lots of choice.

Stayed here for a couple of days and it was awesome. The location is great, walking distance to the most important landmarks and good restaurants. The breakfast buffet was a great assortment of food, fruit and sweets. The hotel room was cleaned and restocked every day. The staff was super friendly, always went the extra mile to make sure we have everything we need. We didn't get the chance to try the spa unfortunately.

NOTE: I just have one warning, avoid the small shop selling tea and spices across the street from them, they tried to scam us, so stay away from them at any cost.

Definitely recommend Yasmak Sultan.

We booked the Yasmak Sultan Hotel for 4 night stay which due to snow in Istanbul ended up being 6 nights. From stepping into the hotel
On our arrival, to leaving fir the airport I could not fault this hotel for its friendliness and helpfulness during our stay. The help I received when we had a medical emergency was first class and the concern from
The staff when we returned from hospital was very welcoming. When our flights were cancelled due to bad weather it was no problem to stay in the rooms we were already in.

The hotel is situated in an ideal
Location for Topkapi Palace, Gulhane Park, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and the tram stop was at the end of the street. The hotel has a lovely restaurant on the top floor with spectacular views and entertainment some nights as well. Breakfast was buffet style with a huge selection of hot and cold foods. The spa and swimming pool was spotless with a good sized gym
Area as well.
There are lots of restaurants in the side streets next to
The hotel so if you fancy a change there are plenty to choose from.
would I stay here again…..absolutely Yes. The staff are a credit to this hotel every single one of them. A big Thankyou to you all.

Stayed in the Hotel for 5 days with my wife. I got a complimentary upgrade by hotel as it was our Anniversary.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Old Istanbul. All the major attractions are really walkable (Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, Grand Baazar, Spice market all are within 1 km walk from hotel). Tram station is just a few meters from hotel so location wise this is perfect.

Hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. They provided us with the best service possible and even catered to any additional requirements (Regarding charging stations, room service, tram card etc). Rooms were really neat and clean and the breakfast spread was awesome. You can get a view of Aya Sophia as well as Bosphorus Bridge from the breakfast area.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Istanbul
