Huge rooms, very clean, and excellent staff. They looked after all our needs. Breakfast a bit repetitious but fresh. A 15-20 minute walk to the city centre makes it close except in the extreme heat of summer. The waterfall and outside sitting area makes this a wonderful setting.

I have stayed in Hotel Mercury several times since 2008, and it keeps getting better. The hotel is located in a decent and safe neighbourhood in Dushanbe. It has a large lovely garden very well kept, like a green and calm oasis before entering the hotel. In warm weather, you may have your breakfast outside. The hotel has big clean rooms, warm in winter and cool in summer equipped with electric radiators and ACs. All rooms have coffee/tea machines, hair dryer and mini fridge. Furniture, beddings and towels are new and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are spacious, renovated and everything is in working order (a rare treat in Central Asia!). Wifi connection is free and quite fast. We were even able to conduct meetings in the lounge areas located at both ends of the corridors.

The breakfast room is spacious with a basic choice of food and drinks. Hotel staff is always available 24 hours, helpful and friendly. Most of them speak English quite well. The hotel has a car and airport pickup/drop service on demand, on charge. It is possible to pay with major credit cards.

The only drawback for the hotel is being a bit away from the centre of the city, so be prepared to take a taxi if you are not ready to walk appr. 20 min. Room service is available for dinner through a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Hotel Mercury provides very good value for money and after experiencing some alternative accommodations in Dushanbe, I will certainly come back to here in my next trips.

Visited Dushanbe on business from January 27-31. I was very happy with hotel Mercury. Friendly staff who speak English and Russian. Easy to check-in. Room was cleaned daily. Modern facilities with sattelite television and internet in each room. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was very good for the cost (you eat in a dining room are on the basement level). I had room 101 right on the first floor, which was like a small palace...I did see one of my colleagues' rooms, and yes it was smaller, but still the same style/renovation/and amenities as my palatial room, just on a smaller scale. The hotel grounds are very safe and secure.

My only criticisms/cautions are 1) that the hotel is sort of set back from the main drag, Rudaki Street...currently it is very cold, unseasonably cold even in Tajikistan, and electricity is at a premium, and so most street lights aren't lit...and for some, the five-minute walk from the hotel gates to Rudaki street could be a little intimidating; and 2) I don't think the hotel has a restaurant...that is, they don't prepare the meals there...indeed, most of the breakfast choices aren't too complicated or are packaged yogurts, cereals, etc. There is a room service menu, but I think that after you order, they go out and pick up the food from somewhere else and bring it back to the hotel. I could be wrong about this, so please check on it yourself, but I didn't see any indication that the hotel has its own restaurant or bar (and maybe they don't do enough business to justify having one? or maybe it was closed for the winter season; I'm not sure). So plan on going out for dinner and lunch.

I think for Dushanbe, this hotel is excellent, and as of this writing there's not a lot of choice. I'm happy to answer any questions about Hotel Mercury or Dushanbe.

What I like most about the Hotel Mercury is the artificial waterfall, pond, and fountains, and the garden. Also, the room is quite nice, spacious, clean, with high ceilings and lace curtains.

However, I consider them somewhat dishonest. I arrived early in the morning on 24 June 2010, and came straight to the hotel. I thought they might say that they couldn't let me in, since my reservation wasn't until that evening. They let me in immediately, but then CHARGED ME FOR AN EXTRA DAY, without having told me in advance that by being there a few hours ahead of schedule I would be charged for a day that was not part of my reservation.

What was more annoying was that the manager refused to talk to me about it. They said he was about to come, I waited an hour and he didn't show, they kept calling him, he was apparently available to talk to his own staff, but wouldn't talk to me. I left the hotel a day earlier when I discovered they were (as far as I'm concerned) cheating me. It all left an unpleasant impression. It's too bad, because other than that I really like the Mercury, but I won't stay there again.

I visited Dushanbe again for business in the same year. The property was again excellent! The staff remembered me, my preferences, gave me my room of choice, and took care of every need. If ever visiting Dushanbe, I would highly recommend this hotel!

Dushanbe has two 200 USD hotels and all the rest are in bad shape or impossible to book online. Mercury is something in between, you can make reservation through email and single room would cost 80 USD which is reasonable for city with few options.
For this money you get room in very peaceful environment, you can really rest since no noise will bother you, not central but not far from the city center and main Rudaki street, I would recommend to put a table on Rudaki for taxi drivers to get familiar with direction.
Staff is polite and quite, rooms are big and comfortable, TV, PC, mini bar, wifi. Buffet breakfast is average to good.

The hotel was an ok one, comfortable big rooms with comfortable beds, desktop computers are provided in the rooms and also wifi is working properly. There is a tea kettle, haidryer, sleepers and bath robes available.
Breakfast is simple, but there are enough options to satisfy your morning hunger. The hotel itself is at the very end of the main street Rudaki and there is literary nothing of interest around it, no shops, no restaurants, and the hotel itself does not have a restaurant either, but the staff can arrange the delivery of local fastfood if needed.
To get to the city center, one needs to take a bus or a taxi (very overpriced if called from the hotel) or walk for about 15-20 minutes, in the middle of the hot day such a walk can be unpleasant, there is not much shadow in Dushanbe.
The positive side is that it is very quiet and isolated place, very good for relaxing after a busy day. Well guarded 24/7 as well. There is an ATM at the premises and a nice fountain in the yard.

I'm on business in Dushanbe and have spent the last week at the Hotel Mercury. It is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Central Asia. It is clean, spacious and has wireless internet and desktop computer in every room. I'm impressed by the friendliness of the staff. It is a bit far from the center of the city, however, this lends to its serenity. I would highly recommend it for the Dushanbe traveller.

For this area, The Mercury is one of the nicest hotels available (as of Jan 2008). The rooms are very clean and the staff is responsive and helpful. Each room has a computer with internet, minibar (prices equal to prices in local stores), and satellite TV with 200+channels. Not all rooms are as large as the other reviewer had, as seen by attached photo. They offer secure parking if you have a vehicle. The waterfall with seating within is very nice during the warm weather, as is the large outdoor bird habitat full of song birds. The location is close enough to everything to walk, but outside the city center so it's quiet at night.

The hotel is conveniently located and - compared with the international chain hotels available in Dushanbe that are HORRIBLY overpriced - with a very good rate quality/price. The staff is tentative, the breakfast rather very modest but fresh. Rooms are spacious, the only problem is a strange step in the bathrooms that seems to be there to cripple the guests. No lunch, dinners etc. available in the hotel, but you can order junkfood and a bit of local cuisine from two or three restaurants around through the reception desk with no delivery fee.
