In many ways you could not ask for a better location for a hotel in Dushanbe than the Guilstan. Owned and operated by a tour company, it is intended for groups more than individuals. But when you consider the breakfast(normal Central Asian), the location - 5 minutes to expat bars, nightclubs, half a dozen restaurants and more, and the responsiveness of the staff(room repair within 1 hour, taxi arrangements, careful billing - I was very pleased. It will be a pleasure to stay at Gulistan again if I have the chance.

Feb 2016 ATM/Bankomat machine right outside door was working dispensing somoni only.

Rooms are large but threadbare, bed not particularly comfortable. It’s a good location. Cash-only, but the ATM never seems to have cash in it, requiring a hike to the ATM several blocks away on Ayni Avenue. WIFI is spotty.

The hotel is on a corner block. Looks grand and pleasant. Rooms are very good sized with big windows over looking the streets and tree top. Shops and eateries near by. Walking distance to many exciting places. Would stay here again.

The hotel is situated right in the centre of the city with a lot of restaurants and sites within easy walking distance. It has a small-ish lobby with clean bedrooms. The bathroom is good with a shower cubicle. The dining area appears to be run-down with some of the seats seen better days. The buffet breakfast was acceptable with not much choice and things running out and not being replaced. The ladies working in the viewable kitchen try to be helpful but did not understand English but once you got across they were quick and got you what you wanted. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. There was free wi-fi in lobby area and in bedrooms.

We stayed here for 2 days on our way to and from the Pamir highway. Great location, close to the main rudaki avenue and park! Not too fancy but clean and very well maintained. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Walking distance from an irish bar - public pub.

This is a cheap hotel. Its location is central within Dushanbe. The rooms are quite big, the Internet is just about acceptable. But the only heating that was available was an oil heater. The windows did not really sealed the incoming cool temperature. The light in bathroom had to be changed twice during my four nights stay. The lobby was also very much effected by the cold outside. The corridors are lit by the energy saving bulbs that makes you even colder. Next to the lift there is a special air-conditioning device. Even in full blast it did not heat properly. The lift is slow.

All in all the hotel is good provided the weather is not cold outside.

I stayed in Hotel Gulistan Tour for over two weeks. It was quite an old hotel. It isn't lit well enough. Elevators go slow. The airconditioning in the room let me down several times. Breakfast buffet selection does not change. Not enough English channels.

But the pluses outweigh the minuses. The location can't be beat! You can get to the best city spots by walking. So convenient, really.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. Most of them do not speak English. But they have a ready smile for everyone. Despite the language barrier, they go out of their way to help. Special props to the restaurant staff for always making me feel at home, and Ahtam at front desk for giving me tips on where to go around in the city.

The hotel restaurant, Cafe Dona, did have some hits and misses. But I will recommend the Sicilian pizza and the Chicken Cream pasta very highly! These earn my two thumbs up!

Will stay here again.

One week in business trip in Dushanbe. The hotel is pricy for what it is. Breakfast really poor. The room was ok but noisy - looks like it comes from the exhaustion system. Had to climb 8 floors twice everyday (at least) as the elevator did not look reliable. Yes the room was clean and they served 2 bottles of water everyday. The staff hardly speak English - communication can be a problem.

Good mid range hotel in the heart of Dushanbe most of the sites are within walking distance, nice clean rooms, Wifi works OK.
The staff are very friendly and helpfull. the only thing they will need to improve is their breakfast which I would say quite basic.

The worst soviet type hotel. The hotel has central air but the management did not want to turn in on (possibly to save money), constant problems with WiFi, reception staff was completely not responding to complaints. Have to leave it for another hotel after 2 nights despite good central location.
