I stayed at Vikasa for a week in March and it was the most relaxing place I have ever been. I am not a massively experienced yogi but have practiced for just over a year and my practice developed so much in just a week. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging, informative and experienced and I genuinely enjoyed every class I attended. I especially enjoyed Ann, Chris and Mikey's classes. They all had slightly different styles and paces but it was fantastic to be able to try so many different classes during my time there as it is all included. Most of the classes are accessible for all levels as different options of difficulty are given for each pose. It has made me inspired to continue with my yoga practice more regularly as I have learnt so much during my time here. The yoga sala is really big so there is always tonnes of space and the view from the studio is stunning. You can hear the waves during your practice and it's very soothing during meditation. Not only is there yoga during the day, in the evening there are relaxation classes such as singing bowls and candle gazing, both of which I tried. They were fab and again, really well led and I loved the chance to try new forms of meditation.

The food was absolutely something else. I was honestly blown away but how delicious it was every morning and night. The spread of options is amazing and every single member of staff I saw or interacted with at reception or the cafe was super friendly, warm and spoke fantastic English. Thank you for making me feel so welcome! They have created such a wonderful community here. Even if you aren't massively into your yoga, I'd say it's worth coming just for the food, especially if you are vegetarian which I am. There are quite a few steps up to the restaurant but I was feeling so healthy from the food and yoga anyway it didn't bother me at all.

The accomodation and facilities were exactly as expected. My beach bungalow was basic but spacious for one person and as you can see from my photos the views around the resort are beautiful. Room cleaning service available every day if you wish, air con was very effective. I loved the infinity pool, super clean and well maintained with lots of shade and sun spots. I also paid for an oil massage at the bliss spa and it was the best massage I've had. Seriously professional, they know what they are doing, and you can hear nothing but birds and waves during the massage, absolute bliss. Big plus point as well, there are water refill machines so bring your re usable bottle for sure.

Reception will arrange for you to be picked up and driven back up to reception for check out as it is quite a hill with your bags. They use an app which is really great to be able to communicate with them directly and book any extras you need/ would like. I was worried before I came that Vikasa would be a little exclusive/ elitist and sure it's got lots of luxurious facilities but it is so inclusive and welcoming. I met lots of lovely other guests along the way too.

All I can say is, I can't wait to come back!

I spent 5 nights here and really enjoyed my stay. The standouts for me was the very delicious food ( i would make a return trip again just for the food) and the beautiful ocean views .... from the cafe, from the yoga shalas, from the rooms.
My yoga cave was very comfy; had a fantastic ocean view; the AC worked; only a few steps to the cafe and shared bathrooms. Amenities were very well thought out ... there was coffee satchets in room, kettle, cups and glasses and a mini fridge.
The only downdide was the very many steps.i am a relativelly fit person but even I got tired of climbing up and downntn3 stairs so many times :)
Overall, a good yoga holiday, with the food being the thing that I rave about most.

I stayed at Vikasa in January 2022 while doing a YTT (yoga teacher training). Vikasa had just re-opened after covid19, and I was meet by the most heartfelt, warm, kind, caring and genuine staff. I stayed in a "yoga cave", which is a private room with shared bath facilities. The room has A/C, a comfy bed, a desk, chair, mirror, hair dryer, robe, slippers, towels, a rack for close, a mini fridge and a big balcony with the most breathtaking view over the ocean. Both my room and the bath facilities was tidied up and cleaned daily, and the service was impeccable. I ate my meals at the Vikasa Life Café, which every day exceeded my expectations with their cooking. If you are a foodie, do not miss out on this café (which also is a great place to sit with your laptop and work while having the stunning view over the ocean). Vikasa offers several yoga classes during the day, and the yoga teachers are some of the best teachers, I have ever come across. They really walk their talk, and meet you whereever you are in your practise. All in all, whether you wish to relax by the pool or the beach surrounded by the most beautiful nature, have a massage, do yoga, or hang out in the café and eat delicious food, Vikasa is your place. It feels like home away from home, and I am definitely coming back. Vikasa has my highest recommendations.

Just so we are clear here, Vikasa is a 2-star accommodation (at best) with the price of a 5-star resort.

The whole place is run down and badly in need of renovation. They try to tell you that their accommodation is “modest” with their differentiation point/justification for charging so much being the excellent “yoga retreat”/ experience that they provide. The yoga and studios that they provide are 3 stars, in my humble opinion. They also open the doors to the public and groups that leaves very little room in the café and yoga studios.

The rooms and cafe/canteen area reeks of sewerage. The food is of a buffet variety wholesome, healthy and quite nice. There is a gym that guests can access across the road (Sky gym) it has a nice view but is basic, run down and rather grubby.

On one of the nights staying there was thumping techno music until 1am in the morning (not something you need when you are at a yoga retreat trying to relax)

I would recommend elsewhere.

Hi Digynomad, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I apologize that we did not meet or exceed your expectations. Please keep in mind that our room rate includes unlimited yoga plus a daily healthy brunch and dinner buffet, therefore, you will find our pricing higher than other 3 star venues on the island. We pride ourselves on offering a superior yoga experience with a highly trained international staff and offer up to five different classes and class types daily. Our food is made with top quality ingredients and our culinary team is expertly trained in a wide range of dietary lifestyles. Keep in mind our offering is a wellness experience and not simply a room. We have four sea view yoga salas, groups get their own private salas for use which makes for plenty of space to accommodate all of our other guests. As for any outside noise, we are aware the wind can carry the sound from across the bay at times but this is out of our control unfortunately. There are no neighboring night clubs in close proximity to our venue. Thank you for sharing your feedback. The Management Team

There was no water in the rooms bathroom. In the sweltering heat, no way to take shower, cannot use toilete, cannot brush your teeth..and they charge upwards of 180 USD for this???? Worst part is that when reported to the hotel staff, they keep replying back with inconsistent messages. Sometimes they say, it is fixed even though it is not. Sometimes they say there is jo water supply to the area of Vikasa. Somwtimes they say that engineer is working on it and will be fixed tomorrow. And if hy chance there is some water, it is gutter water in the toilette, in the sink as well as in shower.

Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Unfortunately there were circumstances that were out of our control and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The main water pump that supplies water to our hotel and others in the area had a fire which resulted in a broken pipe. We have been able to connect water for temporary usage while the main pump and pipe is repaired. Thank you for your patience and we apologize again for this unfortunate situation. Sincerely, Vikasa Yoga Retreat Management Team

One of the best holidays I have had. Starting with the stunning ocean views as you walk in, to the level of service at both the front desk (especially Fatima) and the restaurant all the way to the yoga classes.

All the yoga teachers were excellent (particularly Banks and Michael) and all follow a similar style of Hatha yoga for all levels. Classes generally start with breath work/meditation and follow on to the practise. Highly recommend the morning (7am) class in the white Shala (roof tent which allows you to fully take in the view and the sound of the ocean). There were only 2 and occasionally 3 yoga classes a day but I was told they are looking to increase this shortly.

The rooms are clean (I stayed in a lotus pad), spacious and the beds comfortable. If you stay at the resort brunch and dinner are included. I love meat and was surprised that the vegetarian menu was excellent. Occasionally for dinner there would be some fish. If you really can’t survive without meat you can order (at an additional charge) from the a la carte menu.

I would definitely go back here and would recommend booking well in advance as it does get super busy.

If it is busy you can book the Merit next door and then pay to use Vikassa’s facilities/classes etc.

The perfect place to come and stay if you want to immerse yourself in yoga for a week or more surrounded by positive energy. The whole place is set up with excellent teachers and equipment and everyone smiles. Food is also very good in the Life cafe and the whole place just has that friendly vibe so that if you go alone you always end up chatting to other yogis. I stayed in an Ocean Room superior overlooking the sea.

We had amazing few days at Vikasa. Although the bungalows, the beach and the swimming pool are rather simple, the yoga experience and the restaurant made our experience exceptional. The daily brunch was full of delicious dishes that would satisfy any dietary requirement. And the rest of the menus was an explosion of flavors. Looking forward to coming back.

Whether you are here for a vikasion, a retreat, a YTT or just want to experience some yoga - do it! This place is truly magical, transformative and set up to make you feel as part of a loving community. The YTT teachers are phenomenal in every way, true professionals who teach with technique, knowledge and real interest in you developing as a person. The Salas, the rooms, all of the staff are incredible and always meet you with a smile. The life cafe caters to all guests (breakfast/snack/dinner) and has a very well thought out, healthy, vegetarian and non vegetarian menu designed by an amazing chef. Watch out for the vegan treats and the smoothies, you just might get addicted. I would recommend Vikasa to anyone, traveling alone, with family or as a couple, friend group. You’ll make friends so quickly, you won’t even realize. I just extended my stay & will be coming back for sure.

Vikasa was my home for a month when I studied for my 200YTT. The most incredible bubble of paradise; the location is spectacular, the sunrises stunning from wherever you are at Vikasa, the teaching and care, attention and love for all of the students was just incredible. Hard to describe the passion and support that is given consistency through a challenging but highly rewarding experience. I went to Vikasa to develop my practice, I had no idea I would feel so transformed, revitalised, energised and cared for, one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Highly recommend this beautiful, unique place and experience.

Hi Natalee, Yes, you will need an adapter coming from Canada. Thailand operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. You can purchase adapters here or an electronic store at home should have one for you. One Love, Sarah@Vikasa

Hi Anneke, Bathrooms are indoor. Hairdryer is provided upon request from reception. We cannot guarantee a mosquito-free room as Vikasa is nestled amidst dense vegetation. We do, however, provide natural insect repellent. Namaste.
