Excellent beds with peace and quiet at all times despite being close to a main road. Stunning breakfast setting right on riverbank to watch the river traffic and jumping fish. Hoteliers were attentive and kind. Breakfast refreshing. Air con worked well.

This place was so wonderful that I was sad to leave after a week! The staff was so sweet and accommodating and I felt very comfortable as a solo female traveler. There were adorable personal touches at every turn. The area around the hotel is also fantastic—very walkable, right on the water, packed with little gems and only steps away from major attractions like Wat Po and the grand palace. It was so easy to beat the rush at these spots and go back to rest or have coffee/tea in the heat of the day. Highly recommend, and cannot wait to go back!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was clean, well appointed, and the staff, especially Pan at reception, were very efficient, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions/temples, including Khao San Road. The river taxi (take the local one, not the tourist one which is 4x the price!) docks close by. Our room had amazing views of the river. It was good to go back and have an afternoon rest out of the heat of the day, before continuing sightseeing /shopping in the late afternoon/evening.

A beautiful stay in an incredible clean hotel with helpful staff. Couldn't fault this stay at all.
They were happy to provide us a takeaway breakfast for our early flight, and organised transport for us.
The hotel is right alongside the river, off the main road down a side street with cafes and a gelato shop!

When we arrived at the hotel after a long tiring flight we were told our room had not been booked. The booking error had been made by our agent, who had booked and paid for 3 nights stay in July instead of October. I do feel the hotel should have notified the agent that there was a 'no show' in July which would have given plenty of time for rebooking. The promised river view was largley obscured by another building. Otherwise a very central location for the Royal Palace and friendly service.

Aurum was an ideal base for our visit to Bangkok. It's a beautiful boutique hotel, with a great breakfast (with great service) right on the river. Such a great way to kick off each day. It's walking distance to the Rajinee ferry stop on the river, Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, and the Sanam Chai MRT stop. So lots of sights nearby as well as easy access to the rest of Bangkok. Lovely room (with great air conditioning, an absolute must in Thailand). Pan was very courteous and helpful with everything and we hated having to say goodbye. We're looking forward to coming back someday. Thank you!

I regret to say I do not recommend this basic bed and breakfast hotel in Bangkok. I was determined to stay on the River in thonburi and agonized over which hotel to stay. Based on availability and cancellation flexibility I went with this one but regret it. I wish I paid more and booked the hotel one street over.
The bad:
The common areas are not air conditioned. Every time we came to the hotel after being out, we walked through the stuffy hallways to our room. When we arrived our top floor room was HOT and very stuffy. Strong musty smell.
The small room was full of useless grossly stained old sofa and chair that left no room to place our things or move around.
Very old fashioned vibe and staff: leave your key at the front desk so you have to check in when you come and go. The matriarch overstepped our boundaries with her opinions and it became annoying. She made negative comments about other guests in the hotel. It felt like staying at my old aunt's house, with the old antique furniture that has never been updated.
DIRTY! Our sheets were stained when we arrived. The upholstery was filthy. And the bathroom hamper was stained and discolored.
The good:
Breakfast was generous.
Location on a cute side street with an ice cream shop (Ghee Gelato you must go). We had window that had a small river view and the river breeze. Close to Wat Po (my favorite Wat) and near the river ferry boats. Bed was comfortable and once the AC was turned on stayed cool enough.

Overall: Don't settle in Bangkok. Go with a place that will refresh you after being in the heat. This is not it.

We had a very good days in this hotel. The place is excellent, the view to the river very nice, the hotel is very confortable and the staff always want to give us the best of them. If I had to say something wrong it could be about the breakfast. The breakfast is very short and limited, you have to choose the kind of breakfast the day before and it is not a buffet. The rest, perfect.

I wasn't sure what to expect for my first time in the Far East. This gem of a hotel did not disappoint. Pan was a great hostess. You pick your breakfast the night before, but in addition there is yogurt, fruit and toast at a buffet table. Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking Wat Arun. The location is walkable from the main temples. There is a good selection of restaurants and food too bars right on the door step

We stayed at Aurum the River Place for five nights during our stay in Bangkok. The location was perfect and within walking distance to three temples and right on the river very close to boat pier. Good breakfast was served overlooking the river. The staff was friendly and very helpful and Pan was able to help plan with a few of our private tours. This is a great little hotel and price was very reasonable.
