My wife and I stayed at the Indra Regent Hotel in Bangkok from June 11 to June 15, 2022. We had previously stayed there long before the Chinese released COVID on the world. The hotel room was pristine and the few hotel employees that were still there were very courteous and attentive. But, as with the rest of Bangkok, the toll that COVID had taken on it was glaringly obvious. The reception desk had been moved from the ground floor lobby to the 4th floor. All the shops and restaurants below the 4th floor were closed, except for a Watson's drug store. Pre-Covid there had been a coffee and pastry shop, a jewelry store, a tour and travel desk and others. In addition, there was previously a lobby entrance to the dozens of shops, restaurants and kiosks in Indra Square. This entrance, along with most of the aforementioned facilities is now closed. The travel desk which was previously in the ground floor lobby is now residing outside in the parking lot. Sammy, who mans the desk, also serves triple duty as a tour guide and taxi driver. He is exceptionally helpful and courteous and knowledgeable about everything in Bangkok. His English is also very good as he grew up with American military kids during the Vietnam war. Because of COVID, there was no restaurant service. The breakfast which was included in the cost of the room was delivered to our door each morning in a small cardboard container. It consisted of 2 fried eggs (hard and dry), a couple pieces of rubber-like ham, 2 small frankfurter-like sausages, a few pieces of cold toast, a small container of butter, a banana and a container of coconut water. Every day! After the first day, we just left the unopened containers outside our room in the hallway and went outside the hotel to eat. I don't fault the hotel for this shortcoming because I have a basis of comparison when I was there previously. Although I don't fault the hotel, in fairness to any travelers who may wish to visit there, I felt compelled to give the hotel a mediocre rating. I should also add that each day the hotel provides free bottles of water, a hot water pitcher and packets of coffee, tea, sugar and creamer. The online booking was easy and the hotel cost was very reasonable. Despite any of my negative comments about the food, I would stay there again. It is centrally located near some great shopping venues and a leisurely walk to the Skytrain stations at either Asok or Siam.

The hotel is well located. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is good.

WiFi must be paid for separately despite being a 4-star hotel.

Main issue:
Cleanliness of room needs more attention. My floor was not clean when I checked in. Dust piled up behind bedside table. Stained bedsheet and bathroom mirror, the slit below was dusty. While neat, cleaning is sub-optimal.

I was in this hotel for a single night in last week of December 2019 with my husband and my 11 years son . Receptionists at the front desk which located at fourth floor of the building are very friendly. Almost all the malls are walking distance from this hotel and if you there for shopping it's a perfect place to stay.Because it is quite busy place you may not feel you are on vacation.Rooms are not bad but again the standard rooms that we stayed in are a bit expensive. If you are a person who enjoys the view of the outside at night this is not your place. I advis only visitors for business to stay here.

Thanks
Sinksar

from the check in to check out, the services was bad. when i booked the stay via MMT, we had requested for early checkin, they did not cater to our request and asked us to check in at 2pm or pay 1000baht.
when we reached the hotel at 11am, no one available to help us with the luggage, since the reception was at the 4th floor.
when we got back at 2pm, we got a room # 738, no welcome drinks, in the room, we realized that the water gets logged in the washroom, the towels provided was horrible,it was worn out, stained, no tissues given, no dustbin in the room, the remote was not working, curtains was stained, we got to see cockroaches in the washroom, the tea/coffee maker was junked, as if it was never used.
we had to call the manager to our room to show him the the issues, post which he moved us to room # 904, which was also not that great.
since we had already paid in advance, we had no choice but to continue with our stay, the staff could hardly speak in english.
Breakfast was horrible, cold and bad, 7 dyas, same menu.
at the time of checkout, i asked for an additional hour, for which i was told to pay 1000 baht, there is no concept of hospitality at all, and when asked for the receipt, they asked me to get it from MMT.
the benefit of staying in this hotel is for the markets around the area.

When you book a room at this hotel you are required to pay either :
3000 THB or
100 USD
as security deposit which can be reclaimed during checkout. After the deposit is made you are given a deposit slip as acknowledgement.

In my case after I checked out the person helping me at the reception said thank you and thats all. When i asked him about the deposit he said I hadn't shown him the deposit slip and so he didn't think of returning my deposit.
Basically this is a test of your memory and the ability to not lose things( aka the deposit slip) because if you do you are screwed.
I asked him whether the hotel provides rooms without taking a security deposit to which he replied that well there were exceptions.
So did he simply assume that I was an exception? even if i was an exception is it not the responsibility of the hotel to give back the deposit that they took?
The simple fact is that the guy tried to cheat me and got busted so he tried to cover it up.
Now on to other topics.
This hotel is massive (12 or 17 floors) so a lot of guests show up and the reception has 2 to 3 staff dealing with checkins and as you can expect they are tired and frustrated and it shows in their lacklustre display.
I asked ( at 8 pm) to change the bed in my room from double bed to single bed and was told that it couldn't be done on the same day and I had to wait until 12 noon the next day.
I think the bell captain does a better job of providing customer service than any of the other hotel staff.
The food is not good, the croissants provided were a joke( bread shaped into a croissant shape)
Wifi is not free ( you pay 100 THB per device or one device only).
The rooms are okay and the location is great( right next to pratunam market and lots os indian hotels and street food).
We stayed in Pattaya at sun beam hotel also a 4-star hotel and compared to this is miles ahead( no comparison at all)
And one last thing the website still uses adobe flash :)
so choose wisely.

Dear Mr. Kiran, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize that Reception had forgotten to remind about your deposit and for any misunderstanding caused. We would like to inform that most guests allow credit card authorization as deposit hence they need not be reminded to take back their deposit. However, we will ensure this staff member improves his performance. We would like to explain that your request to change room could not be done until next day due to hotel was fully occupied during the period of your stay. We are glad to hear that you are pleased with our location and the service from our bell captain. We hope you will reconsider booking our hotel again on your next trip. Warm regards, Management Team

We spent 2 wks at Indra and found the hotel to be great but the standout is the staff on hand at this hotel especially given the current global crisis.
Most mornings when we left our room the lovely lady from housekeeping, Chapen, greeted us and was always happy and helpful. Chapen also made sure there was nothing we needed in regards to our room.
Almost every morning we went for breakfast Joe and his friends made us feel like we were long lost family and their service could not have been better. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
Then as we left the hotel the bell captain Choom would also greet us happily and enquire about our plans for the day. When we finally had to return home Choom made sure we were ready to go with a hotel taxi at the prearranged time at a great price.

Hotel reception photo is totally difference with actual situation

Even check out at 11pm, the reception forced one of our fenale family go with them and cannot let other go together.

It took more than 40 minutes for check out.

Even the rubbish bin is full, we chase for staff to clean up. But after 5 hours, they still do not willing to clean and said they will just clean up once per day

No one will answer the telephone call from the hotel room.

Although already email hotel inform that we have a baby before arrival, no reply received. But suddenly upon check-in, hotel request charges for a 1 year old baby without bed which will not happen in any hotel in this world and no such information stated in Agoda.

If pay by credit card, they will charge us 4% which is double than actual bank charges of 2%.

Even just check in, this will take 1 hour for just 3 rooms and without apologies.

Swimming pool water will never circulate and clean and without cholrien for clean up.

Breakfast will accept order at 9:50 but just at 10:00 they will ask you go away as times up.

Some items from previous guests will still remain in room even after check in

Dear Scenic, We sincerely apologize for your disappointment with our service due to the high volume of guests during your period of stay and for any inconveniences that has been caused. Rest assured the staff mentioned has received additional coaching to improve their performance. Your Agoda booking did not show there was an extra child in the booking hence our hotel did not know to inform additional charge for additional child in advance. We appreciate the time you have taken to review our hotel and share your experience as it helps us improve our services to our guests. We hope you would come visit us again so we can have the opportunity to regain your confidence with us.

We had a great 2 nights stay at this hotel. It’s quite old already but they have good hotel facilities. Rooms are clean yet the bed is small and a bit hard. Location is ideal for shoppers and food goers. They had a nice breakfast selection. Kudos to Winno, the F&B staff, as he is very helpful and keen. He is an asset of the hotel. The internet is not free in the room. You need to pay 100Batt for 1 day subscription. Even the luggage weighing scale at the floor where we stayed is payable by 10Batt.

Perfect location for those looking for a nearby restaurant to dine or simple eat whatever the bangkok offers. Because its in the center of almost everything, you can ride a bus, a train or a boat just by walking a mile or less. The hotel though needs a lot of improvement especially in installing room wifi or the like. They only have lobby wifi, its saddens me. But the employee that work for them are favorably friendly and pleasant with their guests. They are willing to assist you for your DIY itinerary, like in our case. Chitish (the trainee), a receptionist who welcomed us warmly right after we arrived is easy to talk to, he can speak and understand english well. He is charming, neat-looking and always smiling.

Dear Gurmeet S, Thank you very much for your feedback. Your previous support to our hotel has always been appreciated. We are sorry to receive this complaint on your recent visit however our staff have been trained to follow the conditions of each guest booking accordingly, including the late check-out policy. We would like to explain that your booking via online third party booking agent was stated for 1 person, hence a surcharge was applied for a larger room for an additional person for 2 nights equaling THB 2000. We do apologize for your experience during check-out, the staff mentioned will be given additional training to be courteous whilst following our hotel policy. For regular guests, we recommend to book directly through our website or direct e-mail to hotel which includes exclusive benefits such as inroom WiFi and late check-out until 4pm. We do hope to welcome you back again soon. Warm regards, Management Team

Yes there is a taxi stand straight out the front of the hotel. Ask for Lucky or Jerry, they are both drivers and very trustworthy. We use them all the time.
