The excellent service began from the moment our transport pulled up in the driveway. The staff swiftly greeted us with warm smiles, enthusiasm and floral wrist bands. We were escorted to the check-in, which was efficient, friendly and fast. Our private escort continued to our room, where our butler introduced themselves and outlined the services available (offered to unpack our luggage, turn down service, etc). We stayed in a Mandarin Room with views of the city and the river. The room was spotless, lavishly appointed and without fault. The Japanese style toilet a nice touch.
My son had an Oriental Signature Massage at the Oriental Spa. Remarkable service here from start to finish, with a special mention of masseuse Bella for her professionalism, skills and warmth. The treatment was well explained, tailored and the facilities truly impressive. The complimentary shuttle boat service to the spa, gym and Icon Siam is frequent and the staff sensational. The boat staff are particularly helpful, offering to take photos, as well as helpful and engage playfully with guests. We also had a Thai meal at the Verandah Restaurant. Faultless service once more, with the food being some of the best Thai we've ever had (Green & Red Curry + Pad See Ew). We also used the pool - staff escort you to the cabana or relevant pool chair. Staff very helpful, offering all day replenishment of ice water and sometimes snacks through the day (e.g. ice cream).
Breakfast by the river definitely the highlight, truly amazing. Wide choice of food items, with the selection varying each day. Special mention to the Assistant Restaurant Manager - Suppakarn. He was perfect, pre-empting our every need and also escorting our food back from the egg bar. Restaurant Staff Supharat was equally impressive - very friendly, replenishing our water quickly, offering more juice and collecting cutlery and plates promptly. We hope both staff members are recognised for going the extra mile, a remarkable achievement at a hotel of this calibre.
We were apprehensive the Mandarin Oriental could live up to its lofty reputation, however it exceeded our expectations in every way. If people ask what separates Mandarin from it's competitors it is the staff and service levels. They are beyond compare and the hotel is honestly in a league of its own.

We stayed here twice for several days each time during our month long trip to Thailand. Service truly sets the Mandarin apart. Everyone was gracious, helpful and provided excellent service. From arrival to departure everything was perfect.
The concierge was always helpful in making recommendations and booking various things for us. Their car service was wonderful. We used them not just for airport transportation but other needs we had during our stays. Mr. Nong was our preferred driver and such a kind man full of useful information about Bangkok. It says a lot about this hotel that he has worked there for over 25 years.
Our butler seemed to know what we needed even before we asked. He provided great service and took good care of us.
Housekeeping and room service were also very good. Our room was comfortable and clean with a nice balcony.
The pool staff continually provide iced water and cold cloths all day. We did find the pool itself a bit deep. Great for swimming but not for just lounging about.
Breakfast buffet provides an extensive variety of fresh, high quality foods. We also ate at several of the restaurants on property and all were very good and had excellent service.
Location on the river is perfect. The views are incredible. Their shuttle boat provides access to the spa and some of their restaurants on the other side of the river as well as to the Icon Siam shopping mall.
This is the only place we will stay when in Bangkok.

The concierge gave us accurate information about our destination, which was a relief as we didn't have to make a long detour by train. When we told them we had an early morning flight and would miss breakfast, they brought us a bento box just after 6am. They provided the best service, such as cleaning our swimsuits on the same day and the concierge for our floor coming right away. The hotel is far from the train, more than 10 minutes away, but it's along the river, so it's convenient to use the ferry. For families, a taxi or boat would be more convenient than the train. It's not a very large hotel, but it has great tradition, prestige, and service.

Before starting an extensive trip to Southeast Asia my wife and I wanted to spend a few days in Bangkok. We opted to stay at the Mandarin Oriental and while pricey, it exceeded our expectations in every possible manner. First and foremost, the staff are unbelievable and the staff to customer ratio is the highest of any place we've ever stayed. You are literally treated like royalty.
The location on the Chao Phraya River is excellent with frequent water shuttles to nearby Icon Siam, one of the best and most unusual malls in Asia. Every room has a balcony and it is delightful to sit on it at night or day and watch the traffic on the river.
The rooms are not overly large, but the bathroom is with double sink, deep bathtub and separate shower. There is also the world's smartest toilet with heated seats and multiple functions that you need to experience to find out what a pleasure it can be to sit on it.
Toiletries, linens, pillows are all world class. The attention to detail each day by the staff as they rearrange everything into perfect order is something to see. Each day you get a new selection of different fruits plus the hotel's famous macarons.
There are many restaurants of which we tried just a few. The pizza at the Terrazo is great and so was is anything we had at the Verandah. The real highlight is the breakfast buffet. Catering to guests from North America, Europe and many Asian countries, the buffet has something for everyone. The pastries are outstanding. Only negative was the coffee which was too strong by North American standards, but diluted with warm milk was much better.
The Mandarin is a sophisticated hotel with sophisticated clientele so at first it might seem intimidating, but the staff make sure that every guest is treated specially whether you are a movie star (we saw two), an oil sheik or just a couple who want to experience life at the top for a few days.
I often have friends ask how we can justify spending what it costs to stay at a place like the Mandarin and I can only reply - try it for yourself and you'll find out.

From check-in to being shown to our room, Japanese staff members were available, which made us feel very at ease. The open feeling of the lobby and the beautiful displays are overwhelming, and you feel relaxed from the moment you step inside. If you looked even the slightest bit of trouble inside the hotel, someone would immediately come and speak to you with a smile. No matter where you are, everyone is friendly and smiles. The breakfast buffet on the riverside terrace was very pleasant, and the food was all really delicious. It was a comfortable and wonderful stay.

Located on the banks of the Chao Praya River, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Worthy of its top 10 hotel status on World’s Best 50 Hotels. It is located a short walk away from Saphin Taksin Station if you want to take the Sky Train and Oriental Pier for the ferries.
The service is phenomenal. What makes a good hotel, great, is the small things. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, we felt like special guests. At the buffet breakfast, the servers would always offer to bring you juices and coffees even though you can pick up the juices yourself or housekeeping leaving a bookmark in a book left in the room. Nothing seemed too much for them and expected from a hotel of this calibre but the surprise and delights are above and beyond.
We stayed in a Deluxe Premier Room with twin beds. It is oversized lead in room with a very comfortable seating area with a curved sofa and amazing river views. Our room overlooked the outdoor pool as well. There is a Nespresso machine in the mini bar area. The beds were very luxurious and bedding was of high quality. The bathroom is also large and has a separate bath tub and shower. It has a Japanese toilet with all the modern features and even an automatic toilet lid. Very high tech and loved it. There was a welcome fruit plate which is changed and replenished daily. It was my birthday during my stay and I received a fruit plate with a happy birthday plaque during breakfast as well as a slice of cake in the room. I was impressed with this level of detail as not expected but very much appreciated.
Breakfast is at The Verandah Restaurant. The prime seating is outdoors near the buffet which is right on the waterfront. If you get there close to opening time you will be able to snag one of these premium tables. The indoor seating is actually further away from the buffet so if the weather is nice, the best choice is to eat outside. There are a myriad of choices to choose from. There are Eggs Benedict made to order, western choices, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, waffles/pancakes/crepes made to order, cold cuts and cheeses, fruits, bakery, and juices. The quality is outstanding and could have spent a long time here.
There a choice of a lap pool or a wading pool to enjoy your time in. The fitness centre and spa are a boat ride across the river so didn’t get to experience them. There is also the same boat that will take you to Icon Siam shopping centre.
If I am back in Bangkok I would definitely choose to stay here. If you visit and want to have an ultra luxury hotel, this is definitely the place to stay.

The service was very attentive and welcoming from the moment you got off the bus. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly. The view from the room was very good and you could directly see the Chao Phraya River. The bathroom was fully equipped and there was bubble sea salt for you to take a bath and relax! The fruits on the table will be changed after staying for two nights. The breakfast is really satisfying. You can enjoy breakfast comfortably next to the Chao Phraya River. The traditional food rice noodle soup is really delicious. There should be 15 kinds of bread provided. The hotel also has a free shuttle boat to icon Siam on the other side of the river, and you can also visit the Royal Fragrance on the first floor. Every corner of the hotel is so beautiful that people keep picking up their mobile phones and want to treasure every moment in the hotel!

We were met at the airport by the hotel staff and taken to the hotel in one of their limousines.
On arrival at the hotel we felt like royalty. There were at least 5 people to greet up and all were very friendly. We were handed fresh flower bracelets that smelt amazing.
We were shown the lobby and the fresh flowers within it and then whisked straight up to our stateroom. We were checked in and had the hotel explained to us from the comfort of our room.
We dined at the Veranda restaurant in the hotel and had a great meal on the first night.
The pool was amazing and very nice and clean. Water was tipped up and changed frequently when the ice melted.
We absolutely loved staying here and it was magical.
There was one small point that I don’t like. We had breakfast included but we’re still asked to sign a bill with the prices on it. This always makes me uneasy as I’m signing a legal document that says I agree to pay that amount. There was no issue at checkout unlike some hotels where this has happened.
One of the best stays of our trip. We have stayed in 10 hotels in November.
Thank you team Mandarin.

There are places you visit and places you experience. The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is without a doubt in the second category - a place that turns every stay into an unforgettable experience.
The service at the Mandarin Oriental is incomparable and redefines perfection. From the first moment you are received with real warmth. The employees seem to guess every wish before you express it themselves, creating an atmosphere that is both luxurious and incredibly personal. Every interaction feels honest and sincere – an art that few hotels master.
The rooms are a masterpiece of elegance and comfort. With a successful blend of traditional Thai style and modern luxury, you will immediately feel at home. The view of the Chao Phraya River is breathtaking, especially at sunrise. Details such as freshly picked flowers, handwritten greeting cards and thoughtful amenities raise the stay to an incomparable level.
The hotel's restaurants are worth a trip alone. From the exquisite breakfast buffet with a variety of international and local delicacies to the first-class restaurants - every dish is a revelation. The attention to detail and the perfection in the preparation make every meal an experience.
The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is more than a hotel – it's an institution. The combination of historic architecture, modern sophistication and the idyllic location on the river gives the hotel an atmosphere that is second to none. Every corner of the hotel tells a story, and the attention to detail is palpable everywhere.
Conclusion – A legend that deserves the reputation
The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok sets standards for hospitality and luxury. It is not just a place to stay overnight, but a destination in itself – a place that creates unforgettable memories. I have visited many hotels worldwide, but none has impressed me as long as this one.
If you are looking for the best of the best, there is no better choice. The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is not just a hotel, but an experience that will shape you forever. Unrestricted recommendation!

Making choice for a recharge vocation on a busy national day is not easy, particularly when travelling alone. This is my 3 visit back to this hotel and never had any doubt on service excellence, but surprising a new look into the rooms, bright, spacious and user friendly while maintaining the traditional service from before, the attentive butler on each floor for sure is one of it and as well the management cocktail no longer find in any new places. Even more important to consider a hotel to stay in nowadays will be the sustainable initiatives which is really a credit to have in this experience that all bathroom necessities, linens and room turndown are well thought of. Breakfast at The Veranda is the most iconic thing to do for a layback morning. Even more, an internship named Peed not only offer assistance to help to carry my coconut over my table but also introducing me to the local desserts on the counters with great passion. The MO experience will not be completed without a Spa treatment at the legendary MO Spa to fully recharge with a reasonable price and extensive selection. It’s just a truly ME moment for this stay.

I’ve not used My Way but for my recent stay I booked it directly via Mandarin’s website and to get their breakfast inclusion all I had to do was sign up as a member (free). I enquired with other tour operators prior to see if they could get me a better rate/deal etc. but there was no advantage booking via them (at the time).
Also a day or so prior to your arrival, MO will provide you with a WhatsApp service for you to ask any pre-arrival questions/changes which I found very handy.
There are more places to choose from in the Bangkok area.
