When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.

We stayed in a few top hotels in our recent trip to Thailand, but The Siam was heads and shoulders above the rest. Nick, the General Manager, introduced himself on our arrival and made himself available throughout our stay in case we had anything that needing fixing. But that

We had an incredible one-night stay at the Siam in late August and were awestruck by the look and feel of this amazing river-side property. We stayed in a sprawling Siam Suite and had more than enough space. We spent lots of time walking around the hotel and admiring its

Its true that some guests experience mosquitoes more than others and they are always around Thailand. We do have spray at the hotel. However should you have your own personal spray preference, it would be worth bringing for your Asian journey, not just in Bangkok. See you soon! Nick Downing General Manager.

We were there about 60 days ago so I can't say for sure if there's a seasonal issue, but we never saw a mosquito when we were there. We used the outdoor pool and dined outside so we'd have known if they were a problem at that time.

Does this resort offer airport pickup?
We booked a pick up through the hotel. It was a little pricey but worth it.

I don't believe it's walkable. The area is mostly government buildings and temples, including the palace. Best to go via boat (which the hotel provides) up and down the river for shopping. Lots of restaurants up and down the river. Just ask concierge. I did go to chatuchak market on a sunday, so no traffic. Took me about 20-30 minutes. Going to Sukhumvit though on a Sunday night took 1 hour!!! Using the boats beat the traffic.
