Baan Noppawong is the finest small hotel located on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road, in the middle of Bangkok historical district. In the past, it was a two-story wooden house exquisitely built in the 19th century, during the reign of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), for M.L. Ditsaphong Noppawong and Mrs. Salee Noppawong Na Ayudhaya. Nowadays the dilapidated house has been renovated by preserving its original characteristic and gorgeous elements.

We stayed here for the first three nights of our trip to Thailand and it was perfect! The staff are so friendly and helpful and the guesthouse is impeccably maintained. Rooms are clean with working AC and comfortable beds. The location is perfect: within walking distance of all the main attractions, but set in a quiet neighborhood that lets you escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Thailand!

We loved our stay here!
Small family owned hotel with traditional Thai furnishing, in a great central location.
Peaceful and calm oasis amid the excitement and turmoil of central Bangkok, with friendly, hospitable and welcoming hosts. Morning birdsong an unexpected pleasure.

We’ve really appreciated our stay in Baan Noppawong. This is a cozy house good located in the heart of Bangkok. From this place you are at walking distance from Khao san road, the river and various restaurants. We stayed in two different rooms because we slept there our first and last night in Thailand. Both rooms were clean, quite and comfortable. We will definitely come back there! Thanks a lot for the pleasant stay.

Cozy clean room. Mattress and pillows were very comfortable. Cheap and good massage shop two doors away. Cafes, restaurants and street food within walking distance. Khao San market within walking distance for food and drinks. Despite the convenience, it was on a quiet and safe side-street.

Lovely, quiet hotel near to the Grand Palace, the National Museum, Khao San night market, and several temples. The rooms are beautifully furnished, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I come back to Bangkok.

This hotel is perfect for seclusion and tastefulness. As a traditional Thai house of not inconsiderable heritage, its rooms are cool and welcoming and provide peace and calm away from the street bustle. Nice little house dog by the name of Bibi keeps the guests company too, and the management are both decorous and very obliging. A place to revisit.

This is a difficult place to review because it is so different to a standard hotel. To me that's a huge "plus" in most respects: It's a much better and more authentic experience than staying in a boring Western motel or hotel room. My room was on the ground floor and one of the closest to reception with attractive old antique furniture, an attached bathroom which felt partly outside with potted trees and an open, screened wall. Also, separately, I had an amazing sunken stone spa bath; also attached and outside of the room and screened off, with a waterfall down one wall. Very romantic.

The property is in a residential area and while it does give the feeling of being in a traditional Thai home, it is very close to other houses and this is not always a plus. A loud domestic argument raged in a courtyard just metres from my bathroom as if it was going on right in my room. Also, while staff are incredibly helpful and as quiet as possible the walls seem paper-thin sound-wise, and noise echoed around the room from staff walking and working outside and from the room above me - could hear every footstep. A minor grumble is that the tiny room combination safe is not attached to anything and a waste of time using - it could be carried away easily - while there is a very insecure old lock on the door. Surely the staff are trustworthy, but I felt much more secure merely locking valuables in my bag or taking them with me.

My wife and I stayed here for three days in late January/early February. We like to move around to hotels in different parts of a city or country during our trips, but I really missed this place when we left. It's in a renovated Siamese traditional house, and has many of the old fixtures (lightswitches, etc.). Quite rustic, but also modern and clean. The decor was well-done as well.

It's out of the way, but still near many of the great sights - Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arum, National Museum, Museum of Siam, and Khao San are all within walking distance if you're healthy (except Arum - you have to walk and then take a very short boat trip). However, the grounds are beautiful and seem isolated from the hustle and bustle and pollution of that part of the city. It was a great place to retire to at the end of the day. This fits our style of touring - one big sight and another one or two smaller ones per day, then back to the hotel to digest.

The free breakfast is small, which suited us fine - It kept our stomachs ready for great cusine elsewhere. The regular staff has limited English abilities, but are very kind and helpful. On the day we left, one of them went out to find a taxi driver that could understand English and/or our limited Thai - They didn't just call one over the phone and have us deal with whomever showed up. The manager has impeccable English and was extremely helpful and efficient, recommending sights to see and the best ways to get there before we even asked.

As for it being hard to find, yes, it is, but if it were, say, right on Khao San road, it wouldn't be an oasis in the city. We did a little research ahead of time and found a bus route that took us to Baan Noppawong's neighborhood from the airport without too much trouble (two transfers, as I recall). We had looked at the neighborhood online before we left Thailand, so when we got to the neighborhood, we knew exactly where to go. However, you might want to bring its phone number and address in Thai so you can show it to bus drivers or others so they can get you to the right area.

Problems? A couple, but they are to be expected given the location and the building. It's an old building, and you're not supposed to flush toilet paper. This is run of the mill in old buildings (and some modern ones) all over the world. If that really bugs you, then you'll probably have to stay in a newer place.

Also, and this was more of a delight for me, there are little critters running around here and there. We found a few snails and geckos (up to 10 cm long, perhaps) in our bathroom, part of which is open to the sky (nice touch!). I love these creatures and can study them for hours on end. My wife is scared to death of them, but held up quite well. If she can deal with them and still come away loving the place, anyone can. At any rate, complaining about such critters while wanting a place with some semblance of nature on its grounds just doesn't make any sense at all.

Me and my wife stayed here two times for two days. The hotel is located in a little street close to all the main tourist attractions of the historic center.
The ladies who run the hotel are very helpful in every way and make you feel right at home. It's a small scaled hotel with just a few rooms with allows a real personal service. The rooms have all the comfort you need like airco and they serve a superb breakfast.
If we come to Bangkok again we will definitely try and stay here again!
Highly recommended.
Many thanks.

Hello, is the suite spa/private pool cool or warm water?
Answer from Baannoppawong
Dear Irma R, Following to your question, please be kindly informed that our reception hours are between 8.00Am - 9.00PM. After these hours, we will arrange security guard to escort you to your room. Normally we always recommend the guest to take an airport taxi meter to us because it is more cheaper than the private taxi. The approximately cost is 400-500 THB (depend on the traffic and this cost is including toll way fee). But if you prefer to have your own private taxi, the price is 1,000 THB and this has to be prepaid in advance in order to confirmed. According to your location, the approximately time (by taxi) is around 30 - 60 minutes (depend on the traffic). If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us. Best regards, Baan Noppawong
